So this must mean Sopel's been dumped on someone or waived. They don't have the tagging space to add more than 18 million to next season's roster without making a move.
-
That was actually an impressive feat. He was last in the AHL in +/- that year.

Lilja's been skating without contact for months.

Either you're ignorant of the Wings' prospect pool or you're confused about the meaning of the word "pathetic". Howard is a former blue-chip prospect playing well in his rookie NHL season. Larsson is a standout who won the SEL's top goalie award 2 years ago, was named to the AHL All-Star team as a rookie last year and is on the All-Star ballot this season. He's done nothing but play outstanding hockey. This month he's 5-1, 2.14 GAA and 0.926 SV%. McCollum is a 19 year old 1st rounder who was one of the top 2 goalies in the OHL last season. Now he's playing his first season of pro hockey. He looked good early but has been struggling more lately. Still, the entire Wings organization's been buzzing about Thomas since he showed up at training camp and blew their socks off with his technique, size and ability. Pearce just entered the system as a college standout. He's playing in the ECHL right now where he's struggled but should hopefully adjust as he gets used to the game there. He would be playing in the AHL but the Wings already have their top two goaltending prospects there. I just can't understand where your comment came from. Do you really think many organizations have more than 3 kids playing pro hockey right now?

Agreed. I deleted them from my twitter after a couple of days of seeing them take their news from other, reliable sources and pass it off as their own. Plus they seemed to be about as discerning as Eklund.

You love trolling these people, don't you?

Exciting! Can't wait to see Kindl get a shot. He has to play in Detroit next season because he loses his waiver exemption after this season, so they have to get a look soon. It'll be interesting to see if his defensive play is acceptable or not. It might be during a call-up because he'll be playing in that extra gear you see when a kid is trying to earn a spot, but in the long run it will be entertaining to see how the people who complain about Ericsson's rookie mistakes react to Kindl's defensive missteps. Ericsson's averaging one turn-over a game and getting s*** on for it (despite the fact that the top four d-men on the team average about the same aside from Rafalski who's got more than one a game)... just image how someone who wasn't defensively dominant in the AHL will be treated. Kindl will look great on the second PP-- his offensive instincts are excellent and he's got a great shot. I'm thinking the PP pairings will be: Lidstrom-Ericsson Stuart-Kindl I doubt Babs would put too kids on the same pairing for the PP and at this point he'll have a hard time looking Ericsson in the eye and saying he won't get PP time with Kronwall and Rafalski out. Hopefully this should force his hand with Ericsson.

Yeah, you can't take risks with your ticker. Hopefully his condition doesn't further interfere with his hockey career.
-
Well he was no worse defensively than the rest of the team He was great offensively-- he nearly had a second goal on a bullet he rung off the crossbar.
-
The team played horrible defense on a team and individual level.
-
Bah! Tatar had a couple of dangerous chances and he was part of the play on the PP goal (but wasn't one of the last three to touch the puck). But no points for him tonight. Still he wasn't a minus, which is good considering they lost 6-2. Scoring streaks have to end sometime. Time to start a new one Tatar.

McGrath isn't a top sixer. Emmerton is and he'd get consideration too. Williams is a spare part the signed after the Leafs released him. In my mind a call-up for Tatar would be a case of the Wings dangling a reward in front of a kid who's tearing it up. I'm suggesting they call him up for a brief look. Emmerton's a good choice too-- all depends on who's hotter at the time.
-
I think you're getting the Wings confused with the Thrashers. Holland doesn't ruin prospects by pushing them into the NHL before they're ready.
-
Cleary and Bertuzzi play with our top 2 centres and they don't have 10 goals combined.
-
While that's a sexy D Neidermayer isn't much younger than Lidstrom so it seems like a terribly short term fix for the eventual Lidstrom retirement. When Lidstrom retires I expect the Wings to go out and try and pick up a big name d-man to take up the minutes (depending on when this is-- Kronwall might make another leap up to become a legit top 5 d-man in this league, also Ericsson will likely be a #2 or #3 d-man by the time Lids retires).

The Caps would sign Semin to that deal in a heartbeat. The only way we'd get him is if we overpay. Also note that he'll be a RFA so that overpayment comes with draftpicks. Edit: spelling (again!)
-
Tied for 1st on the team with 10 goals. Save the hate for when he inevitably slows down as his body wears out over the course of a full season. If you pray enough he might end up with a crappy goal total. Right now you don't have a leg to stand on. Edit: spelling

Hey. Today voting opened for the AHL All-Star teams. There are a few Griffins on the ballot with five Wings prospects among them: Planet USA: 1. Larsson (Goaltender) 2. Kindl (Defenseman) 3. Tatar (Forward) Canada: 1. Emmerton (Forward) 2. Pyett (Defenseman) Get these kids on the All-Star team! They'll have a confidence building experience and it will make them (slightly) move valuable prospects if they ever get traded. Vote here. All three of the Planet USA kids deserve a trip to the game so don't be lazy VOTE NOW.

I think he was referring to a shorter term consistency...

One Hart isn't exactly equal to dominance of his era. I can think of a dude that just won back to back Harts, though. j/k no need for us to start taking shots at each other again. :haha:

He got a game misconduct earlier in the week. I don't think he was suspended then.

Wings Prospects up for the AHL All-Star Teams

So you voted? I've voted twice so far-- I used my work address for one. Now I've got to vote under my gf's address then once under my parent's address. After that I guess I'll have to start making things up. -
I dunno. You'll have to email Kenny and ask. Realistically, they'd want to see Tatar keep this pace up over a few months before they'd reward him. But then again it depends on injuries. If we lose another top 6 forward I'd expect a call up from GR since they're already stretched thin on scorers and the guy getting scratched each game is never a scorer.
-
True, but didn't a Penguins player (Cook?) just get suspended for the same hit?
-
Laraque's was worse and he's been suspended before.
