I agree there. Once he's in his 30's we'll definitely see him banged up more.
-
Well I recovered from last week's trainwreck. Hopefully I'm back up near the top of the rankings.
-
He'll still crack 60. He started crazy slow last season and ended up scoring at a retarded pace through the last half of the season. There's no reason to think he won't do that again. I'd still pencil him in for 60+ goals given that he's already at 14. Edit: A month is about 12 games, give or take, so he'd still have around 70 games to score his 60. He's already at 14 in 14 games played, so that means he'd have to exceed 46 goals in the last 56 games. That's a pace of 0.82 goals per game. Two years ago he scored 65 in 82 games (0.79 goals per game). Last year he hit 56 in 79 (0.71 goals per game). So far this season he's cruised at a 1.00 goal per game pace. All he needs to do is get back in 12 or fewer games and he's on track for another 60+ goal season.

He missed 2 games due to injury in his first 4 years. Based on that I can't say this injury is necessarily a sign of things to come. He plays a rough, reckless game, yeah, but he's only been seriously injured once in 5 years.

With all the injuries, how much can we realistically spend?

I guess they're determined to use this year to evaluate the current crop of rookies to the largest extent possible. I love that Abdelkader got some PP time last night. He wasn't able to produce, but if he can the confidence could make him take off. He's definitely got some untapped scoring upside. -
Wow-- well now we know who can play Bettman in the movie adaptation of his life story.

Andy Strickland: "Wings and 'Hawks lead Forsberg race"
Drake_Marcus replied to The Mule's topic in General
I imagine he's doing a book tour since his book came out about a month ago. -
And that would be why the Wings didn't re-sign him.
-
Because the Wings believe in giving back to the community and bottom feeders have fans too damn it. If someone doesn't bow out to them a lot of people will be bummed at the 0-82 record.
-
Hey now, it did boost the average age of the team. Significantly. ZING!
-
Seeing that trail of blood at the end makes my groin hurt.
-
If he wasn't tortured when he dented the Cup he's probably safe.
-
Ask him to pilot a rocket to explore the sun. Trust me... he'll be gone a while.

Williams out 8 weeks with fractured fibula

At this rate it looks like a banner year for disappointing injuries. Mindfly will love it. Hell, at this pace I'd say Gaborik is a model of superstar durability. -

I'd be pumped if they could do that... but I think he needs some more seasoning. Like you said, though, he does play better with better linemates. -

With all the injuries, how much can we realistically spend?
Drake_Marcus replied to Viking_Erection's topic in General
We can't really spend anything unless we: A) Plan on dumping them when the injured person(s) come back B) Know Lilja isn't coming back this year and the person in question makes as much as him or C) Plan on trading some other players to make room. Why? The cap relief gained due to players on LTIR disappears when they return and is not a cumulative bonus you can spend later. -
What makes me think it'd just be a Polaroid of you flipping him off...

*sigh* Hopefully this is the end of the injuries. Judging by the clip reel they rolled out at the end of HNIC the entire league is dropping like flies. -

That depends.... what does she look like? -

Dude I'm 100% right here. You just don't agree because you're obsessed with the prospects first and foremost. Prospects end up with an unfair advantage in your mind because you're so wrapped up in them. Tons of people like to think he was showing people up left right and centre but the fact remains that he played himself off the team. He didn't outplay his competitors and he failed to do so for a year and a half. As far as Holland was concerned at the time-- you can't keep betting on the horse in last place forever.

Ritola's looked great in GR so far. I foresee you getting your wish.

Franzen @ 3.9 mil >> Hossa @ 6 mil Both score about the same number of goals, one is a ppg player in the playoffs and is good for at least a 0.5 goals per game in the playoffs. The other has had two poor and one excellent playoff run in his last there post-season appearances. Add to that the fact that Franzen is a bit younger and a homegrown prospect and you just can't ignore the difference in price.
