It's mostly because he looked so bad it felt like he was out there for all 5 goals. He's just that good at being bad.
-
Agreed. We definitely miss Filppula-- how couldn't we? But Franzen was the #3 forward and at times he played like the #1 guy. Franzen had the ability to score timely goals and was as clutch as they come.
-
I guess Babs is trying to give Ericsson the maximum amount of time to develop as a young player? That doesn't excuse having Lebda out there, though.
-
Huh? Did you watch Q before he was waived? He was horrendously bad. FOR 18 MONTHS STRAIGHT. He got a wake up slap in the face when he was waived and he responded with the kind of play the Wings asked from him earlier.
-
If Babcock gave up early just imagine when you'd have given up!
-
Nope. Rafalski's been absolutely brutal defensively. Plus, like I said before-- no point in wasting the veterans late in the game when it's well out of hand. On a winning night you'd see Rafalski and Lidstrom far higher up the list.
-
I can understand why Rafalski and Lidstrom were out less-- the game was out of hand with tons of time to spare in the 3rd. Why burn out vets for a game that's not winnable? But Lebda should've been told to go tape some f***in' sticks.
-
At least Kopecky would fall down instead of staying up and blockin Ozzy.

This. Or abduct one of his kids and mail him the kid's left pinkie. Tell him he'll keep getting pieces in the mail until he starts playing like an NHL hockey player.
-
It's sadder that at the time Quincey couldn't outplay Meech or Lebda for a spot... then he goes to LA and plays out of his mind Talk about a mindf***.
-
The sad thing is we'll get Meech for a few games then Lebda again. Switching Meech for Lebda is a lateral move at best.
-
How do you know when a game is out of reach? Lebda's on the ice in the last 2 mins.
-
Maybe he's trying to play Lebda to death?
-
Sure, throw me under the bus. :lo:
-
Lebda's been learning from Holmstrom. The problem? He's applying it to the wrong net.
-
-
This just in: Lebda is BRUTAL. How, as an NHL defensemen, does he not know how to avoid blocking his own goalie?
-
It's sad that I can't justify picking Lebda over an 85 year old with one arm.

Mindfly you dumb f***** it was HELM who backhanded a pass to the Leafs on the PK. He could've passed it to a teammate who could've cleared the ******* zone but instead he passed it to the ghost of Christmas past. Ericsson did nothing wrong on that PK. Your constant negativity is ******* ANNOYING. Stop expecting our rookies to be veterans, our veterans to be superstars and our superstars to be Wayne-*******-Gretzky. I'd like to see you do better on a ******* PK that's gone 1:30 without a ******* change.

OH SNAP.

Gah... all three of Babs' favourite defensive pairings have been on the ice for a goal against. Time to throw them in the blender...? Looks like Babs decided to in the 2nd and BAM-- no more goals. Keep the pairings mixed up Babs. Please? Rafalski plays better when he isn't counting on Lidstrom to bail his ass out. Man that 1st goal sucked... Ericsson steps up on a guy to lay him out-- ok no biggy since Draper was there to cover him... Kronwall makes that play half a dozen times on any give night. BUT Draper falls down on the play then Lebda sets himself up as the worst shot blocker on Earth-- he didn't block the shot but he screened Osgood flawlessly. If you're blocking a shot just drop to the ice and block the shot down low. Don't set yourself up as a moving screen.

Acording to Mlive Eaves will miss tonight's game with a sore left foot (injured blocking a shot last game). He's listed as day to day, so it's nothing too serious. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...ves_bruise.html

You're probably right. Speculation on his GR stint was that it was intended to give KHL teams a look at his current level of play.

I doubt Gustavsson will be playing Saturday given that he won the game tonight Back-to-backs pretty much guarantee you get to see the back-up. I'm excited to see them shoot on Toskla. Can't wait for this game! I'm hoping Leino gets some PP time and some time up on the 2nd line to replace Williams (who was crap last game). Leino was buzzing last game he just didn't convert (see: Bertuzzi). Let's go Wings! I'll be marking tests all day tomorrow so this game will be a much needed break (assuming the boys keep playing like the have been lately).
