I doubt he'll be up this year due to the comparitive depth we have in forward right now, but he'll definitely be on the radar next season. He's been red hot so far this season, something the Wings brass are surely aware of. Can't wait to see more of this kid.

I remember reading that too. Helm's got the kind of skating talent you just can't teach... he's a brilliant, gifted skater who makes it look easy. Just imagine if Hudler could skate like that. Edit: Not that I want to imply his game is all talent-- he's also dedicated, hard-working and willing to sacrifice his body.

Agreed. Just because they're at a higher risk for catching it doesn't make it fair to steal the shot from people who are at a high risk for dieing from it.

Ericsson, Abdelkader, Helm and Leino all get passes on making rookie mistakes this year since they're rookies. Lebda's technically an NHL veteran, so he deserves to get razzed for making rookie mistakes. Hell, Meech still hasn't played much in the NHL so I can forgive him too.

Once his headaches are gone it's definitely an option. He'll see the maximum time in GR for conditioning though, given that he hasn't played a game in like 6 months.

Defensemen are afraid to make a quick move on him because he's such a good skater he can walk right around them. If that kid had hands he'd be a superstar.

He looked good but didn't get much puck-luck. In terms of offensive chances created he was definitely one of our top six forwards-- he's just snake-bit right now... a lot like Bertuzzi, actually. Part of it is he doesn't really have much to work with in the way of linemates and isn't on the PP much anymore, but he's got to earn it and I'm sure he will with time. He's a rookie with minimal experience at the NHL level so he's still feeling everything out.

Another game of strong defensive hockey and great goaltending. Leino and Ericsson both had strong offensive nights but didn't get numbers to show for it (both had shots that were inches from being goals and both produced more than one quality scoring chance). Ericsson fell to the ice at the worst possible time and Ozzy let a softie in on that play, but hey, one goal against in the entire game is nothing to complain about. Can't complain about the D or the goaltending. Helm had a brilliant night-- that kid is the best skater we've had since Feds left. If you could put Hudler's hands on Helm's legs we'd have another superstar. Helm is such a beast! Eaves had a great night too. Datsyuk and Zetterberg were both great, with Zetterberg the more impressive guy tonight. Bertuzzi continues to miss goals by inches-- something that's driving me NUTS. Overall tonight was beautiful. In the last three games the Wings have only let 2 goals in. Let's keep up the good work against the Laughs on Saturday!

Most people thought there was no way the Pens could retain Malkin last year and they managed to sign him, so there's no reason to think the Caps can't retain Ovi and Semin... the big question is where Backstrom will fit in since he has to be kept.
