    New Organ at the Joe

Filthy. You have a filthy mind. I loved hearing the new organ music last night. That's hockey man, organ music belongs are hockey games.

    Ozzie

Nice spot! I didn't even notice. Well clearly he's playing fantastic in them, so why change a good thing? If keeping the Brians pads works for him then there's no reason to switch (he's already struggled to find more of his favourite helmet, so why not be super picky about old pads too?). Are those pads out of production now or something? Did he ever say why he switched?

Agreed. The successful 5-on-3 kill really set the tone for the night. If that ended in a goal it's a completely different game.

Nah. I'm just too bizarre to nail down with a single personality. The voices in my head told me so.

haha I hadn't thought of that. But yeah, broken glass sodomy does sounds unsavory. I know right? At this point it looks like they made a non-retarded free agent signing. Oh yeah, the Sharks will be a great regular season team this year. Maybe they'll make the second round this time!

I just laughed out loud for the first time today. Thanks.

You clearly implied it by saying Malkin wouldn't be on the ice to send a message-- who puts him on the ice in that statement? The Zamboni driver? (and yeah, at this point I'm just being a piss-ant and taking potshots from the distance )

Jesus that sounds filthy. We'll see after 82 games. Gaborik is made of glass.

Only in America. The rest of planet Earth lists the date correctly. As far as the non-Wing games go, the most interesting thing for me was in the Edmonton Calgary game I'm watching-- Iginla bumps Souray who's going back to touch the puck and is facing the boards. Souray slides into the boards awkwardly and gets a concussion. Both went down and appeared hurt at first, although Iginla was fine. Iginla gets a penalty then later ends up fighting Moreau over the incident. They say the concussion is mild, so hopefully he'll be back soon. Still, this kind of play on a guy facing the boards is what the NHL's been calling out pretty loudly. The odd part is that Iginla seemed to do it very innocently, so I was a bit surprised by the penalty.

I'd get married just for that gift, but ten years is a long way off. I'd vote for Jake Ryan just to witness the chaos.

Can May play defense? I mean he can skate and he can't be worse than Lebda...

Hard to imagine you breaking up a fight like this. What'd you think of May tonight? I thought he was great. He fought, he didn't hurt us and he was +1. Nothing bad anyone can say about him.

Hjalmarsson was good tonight, I agree. I wouldn't downplay the cap trouble, though, because it will hurt you-- it's impossible for it not to. Whether it's a killing blow or a simple set-back remains to be seen, but you would be fine if your GM didn't blow his load early by signing a bunch of expensive free agents over the last two years. He shouldn't have screwed with a team that was already jumping ahead by leaps and bounds. It remains to be seen what the end result will be. All I know is you guys will lose depth and at least one star. Based on the fact that Bowman is making some of the calls (and I mean the hall of fame Bowman, not the capologist) I have a hard time believing Keith will be the one to go. So basically-- bye bye Kane.

    1. Sure, help him out by restraining the other guy. 2. No, you just don't agree with Doc. 3. So? That doesn't make is correct or something people don't have the right to gripe about. That ruling was something either side was going to question no matter what the result was, all it meant was the Wings fans got to complain this time. Although to be fair, we have at least we have a leg to stand on since our guy was the one who got attacked.

All I'm saying is that the star treatment s*** is retarded-- that's why Neidavacation took liberties with Datsyuk in the Anahiem series- he knew he put too many points on the board to get a suspension for it. If you're going to ding a goon you have to ding a star. Simple as that. And Malkin's fight was 100% about sending a message, not the same message as a goon tries to send, but a message none the less. Malkin doesn't just fight out of frustration all the time here, and Zetterberg is hardly an instigator.

I'm not saying I'm complaining about it-- all I've bitched about was the bulls*** moving of the finals to a week earlier and thus denying the most banged up team in the playoffs a chance to heal, but people do have a point. If a minor player on the team did what Malkin did you know he would have been suspended. Malkin got the star player exception there since he clearly did exactly what the NHL said they would harshly penalize players for doing-- start a fight with less than 5 minutes left in a losing game simply to make a statement (especially since he jumped one of the Wings' star players). All I'm saying is we both know a 4th liner would've been suspended for that.

He blocked a slapshot on the pk and was hobbled. Babs said after the game that he'd be fine. I'm currently using my patented voodoo-doll-of-Lebda-soaked-with-goat-blood method to heal Ericsson.

Yes. I really like these lines you have put together. Datsyuk and Leino seem like they would be very dynamic together, which in itself could be lethal, but inturn would also create a lot of opportunities for Franzen. There would be a similar balance all the way down the top three lines. Thanks Too bad Babcock won't return my calls. Talk about an awkward first date-- he ordered the lobster!

    Updates from today's practice

Article from Bruce MacLeod's Blog: So in summary: --> Meech will play in Lebda's spot (as previously reported) --> Eaves will not be playing --> The forward lines are staying the same --> Helm's still recovering from his injury (as expected-- with the way he plays he shouldn't come back until he's 100%) I'm not terribly surprised that Babs is sticking with his original line combos. He's intent on breaking Dats and Z up to maximize scoring depth and he's probably thinking that the early injuries to Z's line helped stall their chemistry. I do expect that he'll try mixing things up tomorrow if the boys continue to look like they did in Sweden. I'll throw the lines out here that I'd like to see Babs try (these lines include Helm since he's coming back soon)... Eurotwins Split: Franzen-Datsyuk-Leino (Franzen playing the net crasher/screen, Leino playing on the boards and retrieving the puck) Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary (let them work together a bit more to make up for lost time) Williams-Filppula-Holmstrom (keep Holmer on the 1st PP, but reduce his overall minutes) Draper-Helm-Eaves/Maltby Lidstrom-Kronwall (give Kroner a chance to try and learn more from Lidstrom's defense, keep Lids-Raffy on the 1st PP) Rafalski-Ericsson (the top two pairings would see an even split of playing time) Stuart-Meech (I'm not a huge fan of putting two rookies on the last pairing, plus this saves Stuart for more PK time) Eurotwins ACTIVATE!: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Leino Bertuzzi-Williams-Holmstrom (the "defensive disaster" line) Draper-Helm-Eaves/Maltby Edit: (Torri) Spelling

    Updates from today's practice

I thought about this a bit when I was posting it and I decided it'd be a polynomial approximation based on throwing his stats in a spread sheet but the problem is that his stats are as of yet, incomplete, as well as the fact that he'll retire long before he dies so we'll get an incomplete sample of data if we're taking a limit as t approaches infinity. I think it's safe to say, however, that as t approaches infinity holmstrom would certainly be producing zero points for quite some time. After all, his production is at zero permanently once he retires, so time is on my side in this case. Based on this I'm sure I can say that the limit of y as t-->infinity is zero. I'm using a more nebulous method here since describing a function of this sort is far from trivial. Still, I'm very confident my final results stand. I can't help but laugh at us talking about a function used to prove that Jake hates Holmstrom, especially after the hot start Homer's had.
