To be fair, it's probably tough to spot something subtle like a shoulder impingement if you're doing a cursory examination. I imagine you'd need a physiotherapist to discover something like that. I've got a nice little shoulder impingement that's been bothering me for 3 years now. I can workout like normal, but my flexibility is significantly effected and there is a big difference in the relative strengths of my shoulders. I still can't do a flat bench press using a barbell. I've had to use dumbbells for bench ever since I messed that shoulder up. Plus I can't scratch that side of my back much at all. That shoulder even hangs down and forward too much, so when I'm doing deadlifts one side of the bar is noticeably hanging lower than the other. Then again, I suppose it must be something your average spots doc would look for given how common this type of problem is in baseball (and I'm assuming most sports docs would treat athletes from a variety of sports). Who knows? If I had to guess I'd say this injury would be caused by the following activities, in order of likelihood: 1) Playing NHL hockey 2) Weightlifting (as a means of maintaining his physical fitness for NHL activities, and thus part of his contract) 3) Breakdancing 4) Other non-hockey related activities.

Hey man, it's just something that tends to annoy people on forums. It's considered the equivalent of shouting. *shrugs* I'm just telling you how people likely will view it.

A full line of text in all caps? This will end in tears.

Just another reason why kids suck. Rookie of the Year candidate, Ricky Romero (of the Blue Jays) was injured by a sneeze. Seriously though. If you're a doctor looking at Hossa's chart with no idea when or why the injury occurred, isn't the most probable candidate playing Hockey? Where was he playing hockey for the last year? I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but it's definitely the most probable thing.

Because the King is one of the best goalies in the NHL. No way Lundqvist loses the spot to Gustafsson.
-
Yeah, he might've injured his rotator cuff signing that contract in July.
-
I wonder why this was kept from the public in Detroit? Any team that was serious about signing Hossa would've done their due diligence and had an extensive physical done, so this wouldn't really be something hidden from his suitors on July 1st. Any ideas why they hid this from us? Would've been nice to know when I was busy making excuses for the Wings loss to my family and friends.

If my understanding of rich people is correct, that's the point where you start dabbling in exotic pets. Tyson bought Tigers (because he's insane and apparently wants to have his face mauled by an apex predator) and trained pigeons. And of course, the playboy mansion has a large collection of exotic birds. Umm... yeah, those are two examples... anyone know of other ones? If Mike Ilitch doesn't have a monkey butler he's insane. That's like #1 on every kid's list of things to buy when they get rich. That and a robot butler. A cyborg monkey butler would probably clinch it, add rollerskates and you're laughing. Happy B-day Mike! Hope you're around to be the best owner in pro sports for at least another 20 years.

I don't think it's a bad signing. 3 million isn't terrible for a RFA d-man that had the season he had for them and is being retained in Edmonton. Too bad it isn't longer term. This kid looks like he'll be a good d-man... ~40pts for a 25 year old d-man is pretty damn good, especially on the Oilers. That's about where Kronwall was when we signed him for 3 mill... of course that was a long term contract (thankfully, since he's worth much more than that now). Now Kroner's a top 10 in defensive scorer and Holland looks like a genius again. But at the time it was definitely a risky signing.

In that case don't take Liv whatever the circumstances!

NHL Network's Top Shootout Goals of 08-09 Season

Bah. Hip checks are something we need to see lots more of. (but not checks on Wings players) -
True enough.

Of course not. The thing about Ericsson is he's got better uses for his hands than swinging them at people. He should be fighting in moderation. I'm thinking like 4 or 5 fights a year? I'm no expert on fighters, but those are more 'spot picking' type numbers, right?

Anyone else think spin-o-rama moves are given too much credit by hockey commentators? Uggg. Maybe it's just Campbell's nightly use of them that ruined it for me. -
The Pens have more to worry about those two teams than we do Finally the East is getting tougher. Chicago is welcome to try and goon it up and crash the crease... I'd like to see Ericsson get more crease clearing experience in the NHL.

Anyone else enjoy the commenter saying "What's that hanging from the rafters? A big jockstrap". -
This. (I'm waiting for someone to call you a softy so you can point out that you're an American soldier and they can do a complete 180)

No wonder we let Joey go- he's a fighter.

I'd put Larsson over Liv... but I guess since this isn't being played on NHL sized ice we can let Liv slip through there. (I'm still mad at him for letting us Wings fans down)

All great hits, although I don't think #2 should've been ranked that high. That was a really dangerous play... I'm surprised they glorified it like that.

Red Wings look toward the post-Chris Osgood era

Correct. -
I'd much much much rather have Yzerman leave to work for another team than Nill. I'm most worried we could lose Nill when his contract is up. That would be a MASSIVE blow to the organization. I think people here are forgetting that Yzerman is a Hall of Fame player, not a HoF manager. He's done a good job here so far, and we'll see at the 2010 olympics how good he does when he's head honcho (hopefully he brings us a gold). Nill's been outstanding and is a huge part of the Wings' success. We can't afford to lose him.

Former Russian President, Putin, wants to see KHL expand to Europe

On a similar note, I'd love to see a serious effort to link the Czech, Swedish and Finnish elite leagues together with some frequent interleague play. Does that happen often? That'd help establish more parity between those teams in terms of competitive quality and would help the prospects in all of those leagues. -
Not me. I'm really enjoying reading it, though!

Oh the M-16 is a fine piece of equipment, but it's also much more difficult to maintain and fix than the AK-47. The AK's real brilliance is in it's amazing durability, simplicity and ease of repair. Of course I'd rather have the M-16 if I had to choose one of them to use in a firefight (assuming I knew how to shoot), but if I had to choose a gun to supply a bunch of guerrillas with I'd have to pick the AK.
