I'm still happy about this trade. Can't wait to see Pronger goon it up in goon town where he belongs.
-
You also got the equivalent of 3 first round picks. Congrats man- you guys came out on top there.
-
It's true. Too bad Kronwall didn't spend more time watching Nick's defensive play
-
Man, I feel bad for Braden. He just fell into the black hole of hockey that is LA.
-
I liked Kane a lot. Hedman seems cool by his body language, but he's held back by the language- I can't hold it against him. I loved the shop talk with Duchene
-
Malkin will deal with it better than Crosby. Crosby's emotion and competitiveness plays right into Pronger's hand. He loves to get you off your game and make you start hacking at him.
-
That was hilarious. Everyone said Crosby except the smart kid who picked someone he actually watched growing up.
-
Oh man! The bad blood between the Pens and Flyers is about to get much, much, much more exciting
-
Now you know why they want to dump his ass. The Flyers are the masters of overpaying.
-
Ouch. That's got to hurt the bread crumbs out there.
-
Hahaha. Sweet. The Pens finally have to deal with a high end d-man on a regular basis.
-
A 6 million dollar cap hit over 10 years would make Hossa overpaid, yes. That could include him making 9 million next year, that's not the point. The point is what the cap hit is at, and we can't afford to give him a super long term deal with a cap hit at 6 million.
-
I didn't even have to look to my left to know where you live. Stupid Brett, went from beloved to goat in one summer.
-
Nope. 'cause the Wings would sign him to an RFA offer under 3 million anyway. (unless they end up signing Hossa)
-
No room for another 6 million dollar player on this roster Sorry.
-
Sounds good to me. He's a great mentor to have in Grand Rapids and would be a really cheap call-up for injuries. The most important point is to keep him in GR where he can help the kids down there and show them how loyal the Wings are to their players.
-
19th round? That could be one of us!
-
I agree. If Hudler stays he'll sign a cheap but very short term deal. He knows he's got better years ahead and would rather gamble on cashing in then than sign a crazy long deal now. Plus Hudler is a very reliable player injury wise, so he won't likely be derailed there.
-
'cause we all know once he meets my upper limit of expectation he'll throw himself a lavish party and drink so much the hangover will derail the rest of the season. Val makes the Canadians players look like freshmen.
-
True. But if the Wings are trying to shed salary they can't carry 8 dmen again. Unfortunately the two least useful players have retardedly low cap hits. At least that makes them marketable for trades.
-
The smart people have been saying this all season long. >90% of the league's revenues were in before the economic meltdown, so it was pretty retarded that some writers and bloggers thought the cap would drop dramatically. Add to that the fact that the NHLPA had the option to inflate the cap by 5% and you're looking at the potential for only a minuscule change in the cap. It's surprising how little some 'experts' understand about the CBA.

This. I'm sad Feds couldn't pad his records more, but what's done is done.

Chad LaRose is a great addition for the price and the grit he provides. He's good for a few goals too. I like that call Wasabi. Don't forget that Leino's going to be in too. So we've got one more spot open. Let's say LaRose gets 1.2 million and Leino gets 1 million. Meech is traded off for whatever we can get in picks or 'project' prospect (something that's suited to the Wings given how long they season their prospects). So we've got 3.1 million left over. In that case we don't dump Hudler at all and sign him to a deal just like Filppula's. I'd say he'd be happy with the equivalent deal to Val. But you're being difficult and making me follow rules here... So sign Pahlsson to a 3 year deal at 2.4 million a season. Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Leino Pahlsson-Helm-Holmstrom Maltby-Draper-LaRose Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lebda Osgood Howard LTR: Lilja And we're carrying 700,000 in fun bucks. Now the problem is that we'd have to dump Lebda before bringing Lilja back into the line-up. And of course, once Lilja is in there's not enough cap space for an injury call-up. I'm conflicted here. Let me rethink it.

Tell me about it! Shoving Price into the pressure cooker as a starter based on a handful of NHL games was a masterstroke!
