Depending on how the PK plays against the potent PP of the Hawks I'd drop Abdelkader for Maltby. But it all depends on how we fend off their scorers when down a man.

Pronger obviously showed up at her house that night to seal the deal. -
Has to start somewhere... lots of Detroit fans started watching hockey when the Wings began their renascence in the early nineties. Lots of those people remain hardcore Wingnuts to this day. Who's to say it isn't the same situation there? It's sad that the Wings struggled to get fans for so long, but all the power to them now that they've got players worth watching

Gold. Hope he brought his clubs with him. -

Don't forget- it wasn't a missed call at all in this game. The rule all the Ducks fan quote only applies to situations when the goalie controls the puck. A loose puck is subject to a separate rule, one I forget the number of but TSN showed it after the goal and their panel unanimously agreed the goal was good because of that rule. This other rule says the player can push the goalie (within reason, which this small nudge certainly was) when attempting to play a loose puck. -

Bad for that fan, awesome for the game of hockey Interesting that she refused to press charges... I wonder who talked her into that and what they used to bribe her? Had to be either the company she was working for, the Wings or the Ducks. Either way, I can only assume she got some free stuff -
12 is being generous.

There are more families effected by the american economic crisis than that. In Canada our dollar was worth more than yours before the economic s***storm happened. Hell, it's not just the dollar that's hurting here- the entire province of Ontario is as intertwined with the big 3 as you guys are! The auto industry employed TONS of Canadians in Ontario. Tons. Moving outside NA, everyone's been hit by this. Fricking Iceland went bankrupt because of it. A country went bankrupt! I'm just saying- this isn't about the US economy- this is about the WORLD economy.

You're really underestimating Chicago's top pairing.

Salary cap. Sucks to be a team that had all of their talent come in at the same time. You guys should've spaced Kane and Toews out by a year... f*** dude- look at your roster... you have a terrifying set of RFA years coming.

Huh? The Flames played horrible at the end of the season and are known choke artists- as in they've only passed the first round once in their team's history. The Canucks thought pretty highly of themselves put possessed zero experience playing real playoff hockey. I'm not saying the Wings will roll you, but they're the first veteran playoff team you've faced. This is your first really tough series. The first opponent that walks in with the advantage. I was pretty confident the Hawks would beat the Flames, sure even, and I was confident they could beat the Canucks, although I wasn't sure they would get past Luongo, but I knew they'd at least give the Canucks a run for their money. The Wings? This is a whole new ball game bud. Again, either team could take this series- it's the conference finals, but as it stands now you're the underdog.

Indeed- the scariest team in the east is now gone. I'm still not sure who I actually want to win the ECF, but I can at least be glad it won't be Boston!

What happened to the Bruins last night is what could've happened to the Wings- they lost in game seven to a team that refused to give up. The Bruins have nothing to be ashamed of and neither do the Ducks... game sevens are always heartbreakers like that.

Dude- we're saying the same thing, I just said Draper had slightly better hands than Helm, aside from that they're dead on.

Datsyuk deserves the credit for that goal... his no-look behind the back pass was right on the tape of Sammy's stick.

I think we watched different series... 'cause Neidavacation, while he didn't completely shut down Pav, definitely shut him down at times.
-
First of all, they signed Feds this summer so he's not going anywhere (I believe it was a 2 or 3 year contract?), and regardless- they like having him there to tutor Ovechkin and he seems to have a bond with Ovi. Next, I think your free agent forward numbers are too low, but you've made good choices in who to go after. I love the changes you've proposed for the defense.
-
I'm still not sold on Howard either, but the Wings need to give him at least 30 NHL games before they send him to the glue factory. You know how it is with goalies
-
The Hawks are surprisingly good defensively when they clamp down. Phalsson is still fantastic a shutting down opposing forwards and the Hawks have an excellent top pairing that can shut forwards down effectively. Their defensive depth isn't as great, though.

That's the equivalent of just ******* off at work all day for 8 months (not pulling your weight, etc) then showing up and doing a month of fantastic work and telling your boss and co-workers they were idiots for questioning your work. Sure you pulled it together and did great when it counted, but that doesn't mean people are idiots for questioning your work back when you were doing s***-all. So, in summary: OP-- thanks for dragging a thread up from April 14 and telling us you were right. That's 5 minutes of my life I can't get back.
