Last year. He's definitely a battler... it'd probably be tough as hell to nearly die out on the ice and not have that in the back of your mind whenever you're in the corner and teammates are flipping around with their skates flashing in the light.

Heh- no one wants to be the goalie in a highlight goal Joey's had some great games for NY so far this year- really great considering the team he's playing on. Hopefully he sticks around as the backup to the world's most injured starting goalie.

To be honest- I think Ozzy would really benefit from the Wings bringing in his off season goaltending coach (not the current guy they have in Detroit/GR). All of Ozzy's great changes and improvements in his game came from his off season goaltending coach.

? So you feel that Ozzy's performance isn't worrying? Sure our defense hasn't looked great out there, but they aren't getting that last line of defense goaltending you expect from your goalie. In the games where they do get that (ie. when Conks is on his game or Oz is having a good night) the score is very low. A few times Ozzy has played great but got killed by the defense in front of him. No question on that- it's happened. BUT those nights are much less common than the nights where Ozzy just isn't there for us. Team defense is definitely troublesome right now, but goaltending is definitely the most impactful change one can make to solve this problem in a single move.

Haha it did make Dave Lewis seem more scholarly when he stroked that mustache. I can't, however, support a man who's mustache shrunk in width every year until it was dangerously close to the forbidden mustache.

Dude... no way the Wings can sign Hossa AND Franzen without a miracle- I have a spreadsheet I tried to make it work in. Dumping Filppula's albatross of a contract would let Holland keep Hossa, Hudler and Sammy while keeping a decent enough cushion in the cap.

There's a difference between a rumour, retarded conjecture and a probably event. The first is something Spector posts, the second is something Ek posts and the last is what you seem to expect people will post. Agreed. I'd rather Bouwmeester than Hossa or Franzen. He's a stud that would really anchor the D on this franchise for 10+ years. Seriously- he's that good. There's a reason why every GM in the league will offer him the moon.

I've got to agree 100% with HoH here. That was a ticky-tack call that Mickey would've been enraged by if it were called on the Wings. I'm happy that Nick scored so I can't say I dislike the call. But... I would be doing the same thing as Gretz if they called that on the Wings (see the BS call on Dats that was identical to this situation in the finals against the Pens).

Holland would pick him up at the deadline, and that'd most likely be in a case where someone is on LTIR until the playoffs start I can't see too much of need for a Schnieder type player, but he certainly couldn't hurt the second power play. Spector is a respected trade deadline rumour guy. He's the anti-Ecklund.

I'm going to have to assume there's a good reason why Leino's sitting out tonight. I do want to note, however, that he's sitting instead of being sent back down to GR. If they weren't still going to give him more playing time they'd bring someone else up with the cap room (a goalie or d-man).
