Watching the Oilers vs Sharks game tonight? (12/6)

I say the Wings trade for Rollie just in case we end up playing the Sharks in the western conference finals That guy is a Shark killer. -
A pretty entertaining game so far. Rollie is playing at his best right now. He just weathered a pretty intense chunk of Sharks pressure.

Is a 24 to 4 shot total dominating? *sigh* Yeah- they're playing fantastic right now. Scary team. We'll see how they look after 82 games, but they're definitely a great team. -
7 of 8 on Saturday is pretty impressive!

Football is completely different from Hockey. Remember that a hockey player plays a 45 second shift at most. The body is working HARD and exerting the maximum energy in the shortest, most effective time possible. This hot-cold-hot-cold action really does magnify lingering issues. Note that I'm not saying football players don't work hard! Just that you've got more jogging and down time in between the periods of intense activity (running down a player in a defensive situation or staying ahead of an aggressive defender). Your body sees more continuous activity- less hot-cold action.

Hossa's the good kind of cocky. The kind that doesn't prevent him from being the hardest working player on the ice.

Using whites at home is as close to a 3rd jersey as we're going to get

8 for 11 so far- wow dice are my thing! Ok- I admit that sometimes I reroll because it's an online applet and it comes up with far too many consecutive 1's or 2's for my tastes... then my bias toward one team or another will leak in Still- over the last few weeks I've clearly been a crappier predictor than a set of dice. I'm pretty happy with dice now Edit- 9 for 12...

Buy his Team Canada jersey then Just don't get one where he had #19 (were there any?).
-
Well it was Hossa-Zetterberg-Kopecky for a s*** out there. That being said- Hossa-Datsyuk-Kopecky was pretty good for a game.

Huh? The 3rd pairing is +1 tonight. Lidstrom's pk pairing was on the ice for both pk goals. Like it or not- the defensive issues are top down. And to be fair- the first two goals were very nice plays. Conklin should've had that third goal- but any goalie is entitled to a the odd "should've had it" goal. So far Conklin's made more great saves than he's made mistakes. The BS "catch-up penalties" are to blame right now. Both those penalties were asinine calls. The Hawks played the last ten mins like they wanted it. That's the difference.

Maltby's been a great player on the pk... we're definitely missing him right now.
-
Tell that to Crosby and Datsyuk! Assists are lesser points.

He had a hip injury... just a strain type of thing. His numbers have trailed off because he's never played games this packed together at this level of physical intensity. European leagues have far fewer games and are less of a physical grind. First year European players usually have trouble with the middle portion of the schedule but the best players usually get adjusted and pick it up again eventually. It's this adjustment period that makes a good time in the minors very important for our imported players. Add to this the fact that Leino realizes he won't be called up right now due to cap restrictions and he's playing a bit uninspired. The fact remains that he's got more than enough skill and maturity to play for the Wings. He just needs to be given the opportunity.

Sweet! Thanks Ozzie!

Someone find out where we can buy that. NOW. I want one!

Hahaha. True enough. I can't say I pity Melrose when he's working one job and getting paid for two

Dude. Like him or not- 4 primary assists in a game is pretty impressive. We're not talking about empty net bs here- those are 4 goals HE set up. I'm no Crosby fan- but you can't argue with the fact that he's been amazing recently.

Actually Lilja's just been plain old excellent. He's been a very, very good 3rd pairing guy so far this year.

Oh the Wings do NEED him. He's a symbol of the long ago Wings who were the masters of team defense (cast your mind back to 7 months ago )... and I have a feeling he'll be a steading influence on the locker room. I have no doubt that Cheli's been sitting around stewing about the defensive melt-downs we've been seeing for 24 games- and you all know how he feels about that. Give him some time to jump out there and kill some penalties (he's still awesome at it). 6 months from now, I'll agree that we don't need him anymore
