Well I did laugh when I read your response. I just went into Feds defense mode afterwords
-
Dude- Feds is an integral cog on the Washington team right now. His defensive play, leadership, faceoff skills and scoring touch are all very much valued over there.
-
Gross. I'm glad you let us in on that... I've lost so much respect for Blue Monk and the Wings... I mean sharing a BM with another person? *sigh* Gross.
-
Agreed. Maltby and McCarty are proof to the rest of the Wings that if they're given a contract, if they buy into the take less to stay philosophy, they won't be hung out to dry. I honestly feel that having Malts around is part of the price you pay to get the rest of the guys for less. Loyalty isn't all selfless

? Pyett is too far down the road to enter in the equation- Quincey only had a chance to be a stop-gap here. There are far too many D-men ahead of him in the depth charts, and the big one, the one who won't be relegated to sub top 3 pairing minutes- Ericsson, is out of minor league options at the end of this season. Like it or not- Quincey is not a high end stay at home d-man. He's a low end one. Lilja is better than him. Hell, Lilja had an NHL hat-trick! He's an offensive juggernaught (or at least he was for 2 hours of his NHL career). Plus Lilja is a top tier enforcer. No player under 5'7 would EVER step up on Lillypads! Meech and Lebda are more valuable individual assets than Quincey. Guys like Quincey can be had for pretty cheap in the NHL. It sucks because he's a great young kid who could become a good defenseman, but where were the minutes going to come from in Detroit? In the end, they had to protect their assets while staying under the cap and sticking to the roster limits. Sadly, Quincey had to go. A good game tonight, or a good game last week won't change the fact that Q's move was best for the team as a whole. I honestly wish him the best of luck and I'm really happy he's getting so much playing time in LA. He deserves the shot at the big show.
-
Dude it doesn't matter- Quincey is being given the top minutes per night of the entire LA team. He's being given a huge opportunity and lots of opportunity. Let everything settle down and see where he stands. Right now he's playing like Calder did when he appeared at the trade deadline in 06-07. Lebda is a better asset than Quincey. The Wings had to waive Q, that means they couldn't even find someone to take him for a frickin' low, low, low end draft pick. Next year Ericsson is up and this whole argument is moot.

Makes sense. No point in holding Franzen out for longer than he needs to be out if they can take the decision a bit slower and make sure it is a 3-4 week injury. Sucks that Ville won't be playing vs the Kings, but I've got my fingers crossed that he'll be here for the Sharks/Ducks back to back games. The Wings should reward Ville for his stellar work so far, so it'd be nice if they did by bringing him up at least for the coming back to back games.

That's 4 goals and 2 assists in 4 games. Leino's tearing it up in the AHL. He's proving himself right now... I can definitely see Leino playing in Detroit against L.A. Franzen's a top six, so it makes sense to have a top six kind of prospect called up to replace him, plus Helm's already had a call up and Leino's earned this with his play in the AHL right now. If he gets called up for the L.A. game it's a huge oppertunity to get some points and cement his spot up here.
-
I'd say the fact that the Griffins put up that press release indicates that there was some talk about it between the wings and the griffens management and someone jumped the gun. They wouldn't have pulled it out of thin air... so the Wings probably said they planed to bringing up Leino or something of that nature and the Griffins assumed that it was a fact instead of the loose plan. Regardless, Leino had another huge game today... and so did Abdelkader!
-
I'd like to see him placed on the second or third line. Based on his preseason play I hope we see him working his ass of and showing the rest of the world why I think he's a fricking kick ass prospect!
-
Fixed! Haha, I'm prepared for the sound mocking I'm about to get
-
Actually he said they wouldn't call someone up unless Franzen is put onto the Long Term Injured Reserve list. They don't have the cap room to pull someone up without some sort of relief. Unfortuneatly, Franzen might be injured for 15+ days depending on the injury. *knocks on wood for Franzen's quick recovery*
-
Why? Wasn't Leino being one of our best forwards in the preseason enough for you? How about his MVP in Finland's top league? What else do you want from him? I'm just keeping people informed of what's happening with Leino right now. He's pretty impressive and needs to be given a reward or two by the management for his fantastic efforts in GR.
-
No. That's flat out wrong. Most people knew about or had read about Quincey's failure to impress last season in GR, his failure to impress during the February injury plague (he was the first person sent back down to GR), his failure to impress in camp, AND his failure to impress in the preseason.
-
That's right kids- Parros just scored against the Leafs. George Parros. 2 goals so far this year... pretty impressive for him. With all the whining about the lack of a heavyweight in Detroit maybe a trade for Parros is in order... he's already got more goals than Datsuyk and Hossa combined this year. AND he looks like an out-of-work pornstar.

And that's why we love ya Eva What's your profession? I'm assuming it's something within the sciences, math and or engineering...
-
Awesome!
-
I'd love to see that- especially if Lilja decided to grow a 'stashe out like George's...
-
Brilliant! Why not get an NHL career backup out there as a pro shot-blocker? I wonder how many goalies convert to skaters late in their career... Goalies are usually extremely good skaters, so that's not an issue.
-
Yeah, but it's still impressive when a guy who gets hit in the face for a living is also able to regale you with his economic bubble theories
-
He's got 4 goals in his entire career before this season! Leafs or no, a goal for George is a cool thing!
-
Surely he isn't better than me!
-
Howard will see a handfull of games, with Larsson likely not seeing NHL time unless he continues to really impress in the AHL. Then he might get a shot at a game in Detroit to give the brass a look at his ability to play with the big boys. He's definitely raising eyebrows with his play in the AHL, prospect tournie and camp.
