That's fine in principle but last year we all saw that Cleary should get top six minutes out there... He's easily our third best forward in the post-season.

NHL looking at a 56.3M Salary Cap Next season?
Drake_Marcus replied to YoungGuns1340's topic in General
Interesting how quickly the league is returning to the non-parity years... Oh well- maybe we can see the Penguin's collection of blow-hard trophies (high round draft picks won via extended sucking) auctioned off in the next few years -
Heh- clutch and grab hockey didn't help big E beat the wings in '97

Jesus- I just had goose-bumps all over my body for 10 straight minutes. Thank you so much Crymson! Can you believe how long ago that game was? I was 13 years old when I watched that game I remember being so pumped when my hero Feds scored the game winner! *sniff* I still have the little white pom-pom thingies from that series that Dad mailed me! From Detroit to little ol' Halifax, Nova Scotia Thanks for the post dude- it made my day

I'm not trying to single you out in perticular... but god damn I hate it when people say this stuff. I mean wtf? How the hell does changing your pads to give you 8-10% more surface area suddenly rocket you into "top goalies in the NHL" status?!? I'm sure you'd take whatever advantage was availible to you if you were a professional athelete like they are. Big pads? Yes. Big talent? Even more so! Face it people- Giggy and Lu are fantastic goalies, regardless of whether they use a 1" additional thigh-rise pad or not.

Easily the best thing I've read on these forums this month!

Your team has been officially eliminated

Agreed. Atlanta's one of my favourite teams simply because I love watching Kovalchuk and I still love Kozlov Add in some decent young kids and you'd have a good team were it not for the inept management. -
I'd rest everyone vs Blues games this week...

That's the beauty of the playoffs- we don't have to worry about roster size Were rosters limited to 23 players, however, I too would give the nod to Downey. Downey's been an important member of this team all year and deserves the same credit as the rest of the boys for the team's sucess. -

Uggggg.... *sigh* Is Zetterberg playing well? I'm worried about him right now Please, please, please score a bunch of goals tonight Dats, Z and Lids!

I love this quote from Dreger: Comparisons are being drawn to Chris Simon's stomp earlier this season on Pittsburgh's Jarkko Ruutu. Visually, the similarities are obvious and the NHL responded in December with its stiffest sentence to date, 30 games, with Campbell following his decision with this statement: "Several factors were considered in imposing the longest suspension in NHL history for an on-ice incident," Campbell said. "While it was fortunate there was no serious injury to Mr. Ruutu as a result of Simon's action, the deliberate act of kicking an opponent with an exposed skate blade, especially where the opponent is in a vulnerable position, is and always has been a repugnant and totally unacceptable act in the game of hockey." hahahaha.... I can't wait to fax that quote to Campbell and every major Canadian sports outlet! If Pronger doesn't get a serious suspension (ie. 10+ games) I'll be doing just that. I'm just glad we haven't had to hear from that two-faced retard Pierre McGuire. Haha- you know... the guy who felated the wings on NBC pre-allstar game then lambasted them and claimed they were pathetic post-allstar.
-
It's true- there's no one the Canadians persecute more than Canadian hockey players.
-
Well geeze- he better change his passport then because I guess he's offended at the idea of his name being spelled both ways.
-
True enough- that is what his jersey says. But Kronvall is a pretty common thing to see written from a Swede and certainly isn't something that deserves to be laughed at as if it's a misprint. My point is that people were mocking the writer of that article even though, ironically enough- Kronvall is a perfectly valid spelling choice.
-
Maybe I was a little harsh
-
Wrong. Go look at any Swedish hockey website and you'll see Kronvall show up over and over. Same with Niklas Lidstrom. It turns out that Swedes speek a differant language than we do and it sometimes results in different spellings than English does! Nicklas and Kronwall are the English varents of Niklas and Kronvall. Regardless- I find it highly entertaining that people mock others for using the real spellings over the bastardized ones!

HUDS SUCK IT WHINERS!

Pronger: Dirty, cheap-shotting, whining ******* with the moral backbone of an f-ing sea sponge. He's very talented at playing hockey BUT his complete disregard for the safety of others and utter lack of respect for his fellow players make him an utter ******-bag. Add in the fact that he gets a free pass on being a dirty cheater simply because he's a star player and you've got someone who actually hurts the game itself by undercutting the "discipline" handed out to other players by head office. Tootoo: A dirty tool who charges anything with skates on and follows zero codes of fighting conduct. He's an annoying little dink but he doesn't hurt the game as much as Pronger.

Of course. And I'm not saying Hudler is half as good as Datsyuk! I just get sick of the bulls*** people spew about him when we haven't got a viable alternative to Hudler and the kid's still got s***-loads of untapped potential. Plus, Val had an identical slump to this earlier in the year- his first half was horrible while Hudler had a hot period from mid november to the end of january.
-
Yeah- he may literally be in our top six forwards, be outscoring Val with less playing time AND was our second best scorer in Janruary, but hey it's time to throw him to the wolves. Read a few scouting reports dude. Hudler has a s***-ton of offensive upside and this is only his second year. He's having a better year this year than Datsyuk had in his rookie year. Hudler needs 7 points to match Zetterberg's sophmore year. My point is that both Datsyuk and Zetterberg are top 10 players in the NHL this year and had modest point totals in their first two years (although Z had impressive goal totals). Hudler won't be as good as Dats or Z down the road, but he certainly projects as a top six winger. The Wings aren't abandoning Hudler because they despirately need talented forwards, small or not. The Wings management obviously sees something in him even after fretting over your childish, 1-dimensional posts. I guess I could've included more "..." at the start and end of my sentances, though. Perhaps that's what Hudler's failed to do that makes him so mentally suspect in your "mind".
-
This isn't as bad as it sounds... Homer: He's been playing pretty poorly lately compared to his play before injuring his knee. Maybe he's been soldiering through a sore groin for quite some time. Regardless, I think he could use the time to rest up given his style of play. He's not as crucial as Cleary guys and gals and we could use the extra top six minutes on someone like Hudler who needs a chance to get his groove back. I wanna see Hudler hit his stride and play like he did in Jan when he was second in team scoring. Chelios: Let him heal until the playoffs start Give Ericsson even more time to taste the NHL. Lids: I hope he's ok for Sunday, but they'd be crazy to rush him and they know it.
