I think you're being a bit too generous... I'd say he's: Mikael "I shoot at chests, but not breasts" Samuelsson

Management practically admits offseason mistakes?
Drake_Marcus replied to WingedWheels's topic in General
Ok. Let's do that, shall we? Interesting. Not only did you do EXACTLY what I SAID: You also did it with more regularity then I could have imagined. Not ONE of your posts contained a comment about this topic that wasn't also paired with a comment about the inherited legacy of Holland. So, it's almost, and I'm just speculating here so feel free to stop me, like you did exactly what I said you did. Look, I'm sure you feel that people are ignoring your positive comment on Holland's behavior. But let me give you an illustration of my point: "Hey Frank. Your wife is a stupid *****, but that dress looks very nice on her." If Frank punched you afterwards I'd bet it had nothing to do with her dress. EDIT: Added bold emphasis to the quotes -

Sigh. Just because you're defending him doesn't magically make the negative comments you made in the same paragraph no longer subject to the defense of others of differing opinions. -
Eklund says Wings are interested in Josef Melichar
Drake_Marcus replied to SwedeLundin77's topic in General
I say it's time to let the prospects get some experience. The whole idea of picking up a sub-par UFA as a second though just because there's a hole in the lineup is retarded when this team is the least generous with ice time for prospects. -
Well, honestly, I'd actually give him a ring if I were Holland. If Holland could figure out some way of giving him a league min contract then letting him retire after he gets the five goals and having it somehow either possible to wave the rest of the contract or have it not count toward the cap then go for it. He only needs five goals to get 500. For the love of everything holy- I'd be a shame if he never got that considering he's got nothing much else to his name as a result of playing for s*** teams his entire career. Not that I'd want him around to score his sixth goal unless the first five come in October alone. You guys are right about giving a prospect some seasoning instead. If it weren't for the five goals away from glory I'd say let him retire.

Does that mean the Leafs are Canada's team?!? *puke* Well the Wings had the last of the big 3 Canadians retire with them So I'll say the Wings are Canada's team
-
Well it wouldn't serve my argument to put him up there with crap. All I'm saying is that the current NHL isn't a no man's land for hobbits like Huddles. It's just tough playing against 6'5" freaks
-
Fixed it. That's right Crimson- I can read your MIND!

Yeah, just look at the crap we see playing with heights of 5' 10 or smaller: Daniel Briere Chris Drury Martin Straka Sean Avery Slava Kozlov Marc Savard Derek Roy Ray Whitney Patrick Kane Pierre-Marc Bouchard Saku Koivu Steve Sullivan Brian Gionta Mike Comrie Kimmo Timonen Mark Recchi Paul Kariya Martin St. Louis Jason Blake *all heights from tsn.ca Yeah it's harder when you're little, but there are some fine players with small statures. It usually takes them a bit longer to break out, but it's not impossible. Especially when you consider how Huds played with the ice time he had last season.

I'd rather stick Filppula with Datsyuk given the chemistry those two seem to have. Grigs might play well with Dats too if they've played together in the past (not sure they have, given the age gap). So: Cleary - Z - Holmer Filp - Dats - Grigs Although it might be nice to spread the grit out between the top two lines, having Cleary and Holmer with Z is gritastic. Remember how good they looked together in the thrid period of game six versus the Ducks?

The new ones are garbage. I fail to see anything that seperates those new ones from a minor league team's jersey. Honestly, the old ones were one of the best in the NHL. Sharp, unique and looked great in both home and away colours. The new ones? Well what's special about them now? EDIT: Awww and it looks like the Texas state patch thing is gone too.

Well yeah, I know. I was trying to clear things up.

He's talking about the fact that Mike was born and raised in Canada and has played multiple times for Team Canada.

That's mine. That and Stevie scoring that amazing goal on the blues in double OT.

Who will challenge the Wings for Central title?
Drake_Marcus replied to Bert44Wingsfan's topic in General
A cutsie observation but saying that basically amounts to saying: "No matter how bad a player is, if they're lost without some sort of player being brought into the system to replace them it's a bad thing." Or, in other words: When the Wings lost Lang and didn't pick another player up to replace him it doesn't matter whether Filp looks to be a better fit on the team next year in his spot then he would be because we didn't add someone new to the team. The problem with that idea, aside from the obvious fact that Filp as show us he's a rising star and will, along with Huddler, do great things with the extra minutes vacated by our least useful top six forwards (unless you count Sammy as a top six, in which case I'd pay Holland money not to play him above third line), that that is the stratedgy of the Blues for the last decade: Trade off your good veteran players at the deadline for prospects that will hopefully replace them and then some. -
Not even close. Do a google images search dude.

I know that very well, thanks. But hockey on paper is the only hockey we can really talk about as far as the 07-08 Wings are concerned.

Nashville decision will say a lot about Bettman's legacy
Drake_Marcus replied to Salviaman's topic in General
I disagree on one point- I think Las Vegas would make an excellent spot to move an underachieving team. Revenue is no problem in Vegas and enough tourists from hockey climates visit there that I really don't see a team struggling just because it's in the desert. Face it people- non traditional hockey markets keep proving that they're still able to cut it: The Ducks, 'Cannes and Lightning all have their names on the Cup since 2000. Like it or not, hot weather hockey teams are here to stay. I'm from the frozen North and I realize that so Americans should see it by now too -

It's rather entertaining that you've chastised us for essentially not knowing about the upward moves of your young talent when you're literally ignoring the fact that Bert, Lang and Calder are all being replaced by OUR upwardly moving young talent. Of course I don't expect you to follow the Wings closely enough to know Huds, Filp and Grigs (although near the end of last season Huds had an article on nhl.com talking about his fantastic production in tiny amounts of ice time). But I'd expect you to at least assume the winningest franchise in the last decade isn't walking into this season blind. -

Realistic predictions based on the paper teams. My only concern is whether Nashville gets their situation sorted out. Teams that are on the verge of being moved often play with that hanging on their necks. But all things considered, Nashville's depth chart is too impressive to ignore them based on the player losses this offseason. Will they challenge for the president's trophy? Not likely. But they're not going to be push-overs either. Anyone that doesn't see prospects worth stealing from Nash is craaazy. I'll believe Chicago'll be good when I see it. Every off-season is a time for people to think Philly and Chicago won't suck. -
Sure, the Wings play what wins- no question. But the Cup teams in '97 and '98 had a decent measure of toughness too! There's no rule saying puck possession teams can't have some grit. Noting that Bert only played for us for like 8 or 9 regular season games right before the playoffs. The October 07 Wings will be tougher on paper than the October 06 Wings.

Hey, what the hell? Something has to pay for our meager military budget. *waits for half the members not to get the joke.

Ahahaha- the time passed the day after they signed Sidney up. All the sudden half the guys on campus were hardcore Pens fans.
