Huh? Who'd be dumb enough to want to be like Nostrodamus? He never predicted anything, and the things he did predict with any specificity were horribly wrong. People just like reading his poorly written poetry and applying their own meaning/predictions to it using codes/meanings they made up themselves.

Actually, we might have a slim chance with Drury, if only because he might be one of those players that wants to play on a winning club over a non-contending one. Some players don't take those 7-million dollar contracts with columbus type clubs simply because they'd rather make 5-million and play for a cup with other talented players. That being said- he's going to get 7-million dollar type offers from like 24 teams, right?

We need a more varied crowd around here That facepainter just makes me with the NHL had the same type of fan recognition program that the NFL has. They really give the superfans their due in the NFL, and those people only have to show up for like 10 games. Our superfans show up for waaaaaaayyyy more. And honestly, the fan recognition is beneficial to the NFL because it only encourages fans, right? And isn't the whole devoted fan base thing the NHL's biggest strength? Well fostering the growth of casual fans into superfans can only help improve the NHL's foothold in the US...

Well please don't take some of our posters as being representative of our fanbase I agree with your assessment of what Babs' game plan should be (from our less experienced perspective, of course), and I imagine he'll be trying to do just that. Veteran leadership is one of, if not the, most important aspects of the Wings, especially with respect to play-off experience. That's the one intangible that allows players like Chelios to remain dominant around younger players of equal or slightly lesser talent. Of course, that's the thing about defensemen, right? Someone like Cheli can stick around and adjust his play to the more technically minded play we see from him now while he's more careful with his older body. Well, the fact that Cheli can adjust his playing style so adeptly and with such impressive results is a testament to how much talent that man has! Back to my original point though, I think you'll find we have quite a few intelligent, reasonable posters here, and a nice collection of opposing fans with similar posting credentials who chip in without being too disillusioned by some of the trollish behaviour of a few of our regulars. Oh, and don't judge my pretentiously over-wordy posts. I honestly don't mean to be such a piss-poor writer, but I'm an engineer/physicist so my arts background is lacking

Ok Samadelphia (I know a guy who caught that from a chick last year), here's the thing- you're putting WAY too much into the size difference thing. If your hugest team in the league were actually in possession of this wonderfully omnipotent advantage you tote then they'd be 82-0-0 this season. What's that? They aren't? Well unless their record is better then 82-0-4 I'd say it's possible to beat a team of 7 foot tall, 350 lb monsters. Somehow Datsyuk manages to rack up fantastic goals, set-ups and highlight reel entries galore, but he's a midget compared to your man-beast-gods. And don't get me started on Hudler.
