I hate going against ya Crym, but hey- Lou may be a permanent downer on the boards, but he's not really a "troll". Jerk? Yeah, sure, I'll give you that. But he's right sometimes... no matter how much we all wish he was wrong.

*sigh* You guys do realise that while it's fun to refer to the Wings using "we", none of us has any claim of ownership over the accomplishments of our favourite team. It's fine to be proud of you home town, or just plain favourite, team, but arrogance implies you've got at least a small hand in doing something. Cheering for a team is literally the least important job you can have. Sure having the home crowd rooting for you is great, but teams still win cups on the road too. So please, for the love of god, stop acting like YOU have your name on the Stanley Cup. EDIT: BC- that wasn't directed at you, I actually agree with you.

I thought the rats were to symbolize feeding the cat (so to speak) since their team is the Panthers? And I'm sure that the Nashville team owners encourage the growth of traditions... they're trying to become established in a non-traditional market.

I agree with you SWF. You'd think people from Detroit would know what it's like to be unfairly characterised as being a member of the negative stereotype in their area. Do those of you from Dtown want to have out-of-town friends making car-jacking and handgun jokes? What about unemployment jokes? Detroit's a big city with big city problems- so it's not tough to imagine some stereotypical viewpoints to throw your way. I live in CANADA and we have rednecks that are just as bad those in the South. Fact is- eveyone has rednecks. And I think it's stupid to accuse the Nashville fans of being copycats and mocking them for having no hockey tradition. The US and Canada have almost no historical context compared to Europe. Travel through Europe and you'll see pubs that are 600 years old, and crazy s*** like that. Tradition has to start somewhere- who are we to say Nashville is any less entitled to be proud hockey fans then us? You'd have to be a Detroit goalie with a stick near the edge of the BS-zoid to get a delay of game around us.

Those were mine. I love to say this but based on the stats I'd say this game belonged to the underappreciated members of the wings. Such depth when it counts, soooo little spirit when we're playing formally crappy teams. But guess which trait matters more in the playoffs? I'm happy to see my first and second favourite (world spelling there- I know it looks stupid) underdog wings thrash the nash-trash.

I completely agree about Tootoo and about the hillbilly jokes being retarded. But having the writing composition of a 5th grade student with a learning disability isn't helping your argument. Also- tied for second in the league isn't exactly the fall from grace that heralds the end of the Wings' reign as an elite team.
