There's a huge difference between honesty and bashing. All I'm asking for is a little honesty with the fans. He could have said something along the lines of "yadda yadda yadda, played crappy, yadda... game tonight highlights a problem we're currently addressing and that is a lack of overall toughness.. yadda yadda in the mean time we play with the highly skilled but not as tough as we'd like roster we currently have... yadda" Did I ask him to berate his team on record? No. Have I said he's a bad coach? Of course not. But I do find his press clips on these subjects to be intellectually insulting. And as a Red Wings fan I find that concerning. But I'm hardly throwing a brick through his window with a strongly worded letter attached here folks. I'm posting a thread in a fan forum. AND to be fair- if you give a coach credit for making a team work well with the players he's got then why can't you hold him responsible for his team's deficites? Ultimately the buck stops with him and if his team plays poorly people laud the players, if poor play is the order of the day it's his ass on the public gallows. That's the nature of sports in general, and not just in Montreal. Fans expect accountability from the management when they see their beloved team die on the screen in front of them. For me that accountability is simply some reasonably candid explanations from the management. I'm not asking for his head on a pike!

Well I'd be fine if he'd actually be upfront about it, but insisting there's no problem is asinine. And I think he likely has more say in what players he gets then anyone else outside of the GM staff, no?

I wouldn't be surprised if the reported goaltender changes. It seems likely that if there is interest in one of the goaltenders the Wings would throw him in nets on a night when they're playing the Flyers In other words- I agree with everyone, except I imagine that whoever's in nets tonight is the most likely trade prospect

Sure we'd all love to see Forsberg on the team if only because of his talent, but handing Hudler away seems so damn stupid. Huddles is arguably the best prospect the Wings have and in the end they don't have the luxury of assuming another great prospect will turn up in the draft since the Wings usually get a pick once everyone else has had 4 or 5 Forsberg has how many years left in his tank? 2 or 3? Huddles has, what, 12 or 13?!? Is Huddles of equal talent to Forsberg? I doubt anyone would say yes, but I'm not ready to say a definite no for one reason: he's never had the chance to show what he's really got. Now add to that the fact that, on average, Wings picks take a little while to heat up (Feds excluded ) and I honestly think 3 or 4 years from now a trade of Huds for a rental would feel incredibly dumb. But then again, I'm far from a NHL scout I doubt I could scout for a peewee team Please, please, please, PLEASE don't trade Huds, F-diggity-fresh or Dats Ken! Fip is obviously rooted here for a while, but it's scary to imagine Huds or Dats in a different uniform. Although in the end I do think Dats will have trouble getting anything near what he wants in terms of cash from Detroit compared to all those crappy teams with huge wallets out there.

Someone needs to change their Avatar then Fantastic game tonight. I'm kinda pissed Dats only managed a single freaking point in a 7 goal game, but I'll forgive him since Z is still setting the ice on fire. Damn he's an impressive player. Does anyone else feel like he's getting better every game?!?

Well saying you'd rather him start then Hasek is just goofy. Hasek is a seasoned veteran AND he's the kind of wunderkind that comes along once a generation in terms of sheer skill. Ask Brodeur, Roy of any other goaltending genious who's played with/against Hasek and I'm pretty damn confident they'd say they respect him and consider him a damn fine goalie, regardless of his style. Why? Results. And those arent' just past results- he's been playing like a beast this season. Turns out he's human and thus can make mistakes, but that doesn't diminish his play before and after those few mistakes he makes. Sure he's not as good as Puckloo thinks, but he's not far off. No offence loo- but fans always have a bit of a tainted view Joey IS a NHL quality goalie- he proved that in almost every start so far (bar Nash, but again, everyone makes mistakes- including our boys last night- Z was pointless even with his streak lately!).

Maybe we could finish farther down the list and get some actual freaking draftpicks?!?!

Ohhhhhh. Dang, I wish I could watch every wings game We only get a handful of them up here in the great white north. And really, a few wings games is far too few for all but a few.

I'm not surprised by Joey's play. I really think he's done very well in his previous starts (as I've said before) and I really think he has the makings of a good NHL goalie, no?

Yeah, I'd totally be worried if we weren't talking about the DETROIT-EFFING-REDWINGS! That means the third will be more fun then the first two periods (not a tough proposition ).

The best news is: The third's coming up AND the wings've been playing pretty meh up till now. Guess what that means? LET'S GO WINGS!!

He does have a point. But Lang AND the Eurosensation lines are going strong, so I think we'll have a good game. Joey really, really, really deserves the win tonight after all those games where he put on a good show (given the situation and the fact that he's played how many starts? 4 or 5?) only to be let down by our lackluster offence and a d that's decided to take the night off. I'll say 4-2 Wings. (Cleary, Z, Lids, Huddles) and Dats with some assists. Manny gets both goals for the Blues. If I'm wrong let's hope it's just that Dats gets a hattie and Huddles gets two
