Great news. I'm glad he's got his mojo back. The first half of his season was an epic slump to say the least.

His poor family.

Should Holland model his GM style after Sutter's in Calgary? Lots of exciting trades to screw with team chemistry and pathetic results on the ice. I'll put my faith in the GM who's shown he knows how to make winning teams. Hells yeah. I can get behind that deal. How about Kindl and a 2nd for Hall? Then we'd really be cookin'.

Just went back and watched the hit a few more times on Youtube. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2011/01/red_wings_brad_stuart_wont_nee.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+detroit-redwings+%28Detroit+Red+Wings+-+MLive.com%29 Wow it was reckless. Kostopoulos had tons of time to adjust his hit and Stewart had no chance to see it coming. So amazingly disrespectful and dangerous. He could have hit him shoulder to shoulder if he wanted to.

Brutal. The freak injuries keep on coming. Broken bones aren't old age (these guys are on pretty strict diets) or from poor physical training... it's just bad luck.

That team definitely has a statistical cancer growing in it. I can't believe Kovy is on pace for like 22 goals. I hope so for his sake. He's definitely one of those hard working bleed of the team guys you want to see suceed.

So he was your teacher and you his pupil in the art of love?

A good read. I'd like to read more about the Gavrilov kid's situation.

"It's going to be ok-- they said it's mild."

In my mind "that much" = "a little bit". It's 2011. He's a 35 year old who's making 2.8mil this season. 14pts and -15 in 31 games this year (missed 8 with a neck injury). He had a great year last year but you can't assume veteran players will continue to trend upwards. There's definitely a reason why the Devils only got a conditional 3rd for him. Everyone says "but he's a strong playoff performer!". Yeah, and so was Feds. Let's steal him away from the KHL! Last year Langenbrunner had 1 helper and 0 goals in 5 playoff games. The year before it was 2 goals and 1 helper in 4 games. He's lead his team to three terrible first round slaughterings in a row. His last impressive playoff year was the year the Oilers broke Yzerman's face. I dunno... I just can't put a ton of stock in the leadership in that lockerroom right now. They've been nothing but playoff disappointments since the lockout. The Luongo tactic-- you have to sign this summer 'cause we made you captain!

SportsK is where I got my Christmas jersey. (Lidstrom Winter Classic) They're very committed to using individual letters instead of nameplates and I've yet to hear a negative review.

He lives!

Newfy cares equally for all the Canadian prospects. Ferraro's numbers this year are breathtaking*. *Like getting kicked in the chest. On the upside it won't be hard for him to have bounce back year next season. I assume his numbers can only go up... Speaking of which: Riley Sheahan!

THN's Ross McLean "Scouting Blog" - Teemu Pulkkinen
Drake_Marcus replied to Esquire's topic in General
Pulkkinen looked really smart out there. He's definitely not afraid to shoot the puck. Along with Jarnkrok he was the best part of the tourny for me (last night's loss to Russia being the worst). -
Awesome! I wish I lived close enough to show my support.
-
Ericsson's tough too. Ask Corry Perry's yappy ass.

Anyone in the NHL could lose an edge like that. (not that that makes it any less hilarious) s***-- Kronwall loses entire skate blades. Top that Stamkos.
-
Franzen and Lidstrom both made huge saves tonight (Franzen's being the more impressive one). Ozzy was great too, even if the last goal was very deflating. How about Helm's goal? That was slick.

Let's not get too cocky... it's not like we steamrolled them in the Olympics. Sounds unrelenting.

An outdated analysis that seems to have been written some time in the summer. I wouldn't put much stock in it.

I've always assumed there was a dark secret about Larry that the Ilitches knew but haven't made public out of respect to his family. (maybe he ate babies or kicked a puppy down the stairs or something like that) That still doesn't explain why Red Kelly is being snubbed.

Howard, Stuart, Eaves possible Tuesday against the Oil
Drake_Marcus replied to nate94gt's topic in General
Howard was the runner up for the Calder. His merrits as a goaltender obviously aren't in question among the voters for that award. He's had a s***ty season so far but his rookie season was nothing short of brilliant. And if Steve was really pushed out like that I'd be very angry. It's always bothered me he didn't hit 700 goals. Where did you hear that he didn't want to retire? -
So did Neimi and he got a nice new contract.

Step right up folks-- measure your epeen on LGW.

Howard, Stuart, Eaves possible Tuesday against the Oil
Drake_Marcus replied to nate94gt's topic in General
Like it or not-- Howard is the future of the Wings in net right now. Ozzy is the past. And the difference between Howard's bad starts and Ozzy's good starts hasn't been large enough to justify switching the starter positions. That's why Howard gets the extra start. But because we're both math guys let's look at the stats: Howard: 30gp 30gs 20W-7L-3OTL 2.70GAA 0.908 Sv% 2SO Osgood: 10gp 9gs 4W-3L-2OTL 2.74GAA 0.905 Sv% 0SO I've watched the games too man, I know Ozzy's had a few good ones. But to characterise this situation as being a clear cut case of favourtism ignores the statistical evidence that says Howard wins 67% of his games and Osgood wins 44% of his games (all with nearly identical GAA and Sv%).
