NHL Awards Show sounds like it is going to be horrible
Drake_Marcus replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Canadian isn't the first asset I think of when I imagine Pamella Anderson. Also, I'm so used to typing Swedish names that I wrote "Andersson" first. And I'd like to see a retired international superstar be one of the presenters. I can't quite put my finger on it but I'm thinking they should wear glasses and bring their own wine. -
I was a bit bummed too but he did score 11pts in 12 playoff games (well half were in one game but still...). You have to pay out when the player puts those numbers up.
-
Wouldn't you? I know I'd be interested in differences in my yearly pay below $500,000.

Talk about "star power". The NHL would've been better off paying significant people to be their showbiz stars. -
These two are the hands-down best management team in the league. They haven't drafted higher than 17th overall in 20 frigging years and yet they haven't missed the playoffs in that time either. It's pretty mind-blowing how well they draft and manage a hockey club.
-
I believe it's technically the Wilkes-Barrie Penguins vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins.
-
Good depth signing.
-
Risks vs. rewards, man. If the Wings have an opportunity to draft a kid of this talent level they should take it.
-
That's retarded. The Devils are as likely to trade Brodeur as the Wings are to trade Lidstrom.

You're definitely on the money there. This would be a very similar pick-up to the Dallas Drake one. Hopefully the results would be the same. You can never have enough guys who are willing to block shots and play hard minutes every night. Ritola isn't going anywhere unless he completely blows it in training camp, pre-season and early in the year.
-
Don't they usually push the most offensively gifted guys? Toews is too much of a hard worker to share this cover distinction with Kane. Play NHL11! You too can score upwards of 69pts a year! Not that I dislike Toews-- I'm very glad he was our best player at the Olympics this year.
-
Sorry but he's only one season removed from being a guy that had to sign cheap just to get work. I don't buy that he's a safe signing. If he was coming cheap (as in his price last year) I'd be all over it but he clearly expects a significant raise or at least a long term (base on his rejection of the Thrashers' offer).

I think that for Cheli it was probably his inability to stay in Atlanta after his call-up that probably broke his spirit... that must have been pretty hard for him to realize how far he's fallen from his peak play.

Wasn't Rafalski signed after his 35th birthday? If so an early retirement would not be helpful.

How much better would we be looking with Leino and Kopecky

Based on what I saw in the Finals I disagree on your Leino assesment but otherwise you're on the money. -
I don't like linking size and hitting ability too strongly. There are as many giant ******* as there are small wrecking-balls.

Something tells me 47 of those people failed the breathalyzer test.

Would a real gritty fighter help or hurt this team?

Fixed it for ya. This part was crippling, in my opinion. Kronwall was a bigger part of the 08 win than most people think. -
Is your signature meant to be ironic?

I mentioned this to Zetterberg and he gave me a curt two-word answer. -
So the logic here is: I can be a dick to people I don't like as long as I'm not a dick to people I need because people don't care if I'm a dick anyway? The Hawks should totally hire me as their capologist. And for the record I'd wear a different Wings jersey to work every day.
-
And who's paying for it if the city doesn't fine the club for damages and costs?
-
I don't buy that theory. Why didn't Anaheim do that with Giggy? Why is Ottawa preparing to buy Cheechoo out instead of just keeping him in the minors? If Chicago does that to Huet they'll be lucky if they ever sign a major FA in the next decade. Player's won't forget that treatment. Nope. If you're in the AHL you don't count against the cap. 1 way just means you get paid the NHL salary no matter where you're playing (AHL or NHL).
-
Actually, someone out there might be willing to bite on Huet if he comes with a free Versteeg. Versteeg would be payment for them eating Huet's brutal contract and would probably be just the kind of thing someone would be willing to do just to get Versteeg. A team like Atlanta might do something like that just because they have the cap room and Versteeg is a good young player.
