If the NHLPA triggers the inflator like they're rumoured to be considering we'd have 8 or 9 million in that scenario!
-
Exactly. Look at our core: Datsyuk-- in his prime Zetterberg-- in his prime Franzen-- in his prime Filppula-- entering his prime (Hudler-- entering his prime) Lidstrom-- Old but better than 99% of the league Rafalski-- Old but still a top pairing d-man (and the defensive mvp of the Olympics) Kronwall-- entering his prime (and was the leading defensive scorer of the playoffs in 09) Stuart-- entering his prime Howard-- just finished his rookie season! He just turned 26 but goalies hit their prime around 30

It's funny that you think that because the entire world spells it centre. Only America spells it that way.
-
Yeah-- Detroit fans are jealous of your franchise's amazing success over the last 15 years. Let's assume you're high and forget who won 4 cups in 11 seasons.
-
Yikes! Stamkos is winning handily. We need more LGWers to go vote!
-
Once all the chips are down and they have a fix on exactly how much salary cap space they have left going into the '10-'11 season I'll pay more attention to this kind of statement. Did anyone really think the Wings were going to add a 5 million dollar player this offseason? To me this indicates that Lidstrom is staying. If Lidstrom decides to retire you can expect a big move or two.

It sickens me that monsters like that can receive a pardon. They ruin the lives of those kids and the least we can do is make sure they spend their life in prison.
-
Wow... that is foolish.
-
Maybe they can build a new Joe? I don't want a new arena, but I could live with a Joe 2.0
-
Hilarious. Ovehckin puts 10pts up in 7 games against the Habs and people call him a choker. Crosby puts 5pts up in 6 games and he's still the anointed one.
-
Wow-- Maxim LaPierre just had an amazing goal...
-
I guess this would help explain his struggles in games 1,2 and 3.
-
Also-- beating the s***hawks in game 82 in their own barn to prevent them from taking 1st in the West... man that was an awesome game!
-
I'm surprised only one person picked game 4 against the Sharks. That performance by Mule was one of the most impressive offensive games in Cup history!
-
As long as the Sharks win the Cup I'm happy. That way I can say that it took the best team in the league to eliminate the Wings
-
As cool as an original six match-up would be I still think the Sharks have put way more time into this than the Blackhawks. Plus I just can't stand the idea that the Hawks could advance as far as the finals. I want to see them implode.
-
Definitely. One problem with this team's love of overripe prospects is that our players have shorter NHL careers because they don't enter the league early enough.
-
Nope. You can be over the cap by as much as you want in the summer.
-
Kick ass-- he would definitely add a needed element to this team.

Smith will have to put some muscle on this offseason and get a handle on the pro game next season in GR. Without trading Kindl or Ericsson there's just no room for Smith in Detroit right now... Ericsson wouldn't get much right now because of his rough rookie season, so it'd be pointless trading him at his lowest value. Kindl would also net fewer assets than he is ideally worth, so he'd be off the block too.
-
Would he be a heavy weight in terms of fighting/toughness?
-
Sounds like a younger version of what Brad Stewart does now (noting that he was considered an offensive prospect coming into the league... his current role came after he moved to Boston). We could definitely use a kid who's 6'4 at age 17-- he could put another inch or two on over the next few years. Add strong defensive ability, possible offensive upside and a ton of physicality and it looks like a really strong pick.
-
They need to keep trying to stock the cupboards with high upside prospects. A kid who could move in before they're 22 would be awesome.

Brendan Smith finds your lack of faith disturbing.
