I wouldn't worry about the management sending him elsewhere... that contract is untradeable right now.
-
I still think it's a 'changed after video review' situation, but if he did do some convincing then sure, that is a classy move.

I've heard Taco Bell makes it all worth it. Then again my buddy who told me that is a stoner...

If we don't win the Cup I know I'll want to be as high as possible too.

That's what was strongly implied after the prospects camp this summer. Smith was obviously a 'vet' prospect out there and at least one reporter asked about his plans with college. From what I recall, both Smith and the management had a "wait and see" aptitude since Smith has struggled a bit with injuries in the past. After being named a candidate for the Hobey Baker it's pretty clear Smith is ready to take a stab at pro hockey. My bet is that he'll get a look in GR this coming season.

Subtle. We have a genius here folks. He's discovered the secret to scoring 50+ goals in the NHL. All you have to do is shoot lots. No talent needed you can make up for it with tons and tons of shots. Quick! Someone call Yashin and tell him it's not too late to be a superstar.

Friday: Philadelphia @ NY Rangers Atlanta @ Washington x2 Detroit @ Columbus Anaheim @ St Louis Chicago @ Colorado (every game between them has gone to the SO this year... so who knows?) Saturday: Carolina @ Boston Edmonton @ Los Angeles Toronto @ Montreal (Toronto would love to be the spoiler here) Buffalo @ Ottawa NY Islanders @ New Jersey Pittsburgh @ Atlanta Florida @ Tampa Bay St Louis @ Nashville Dallas @ Minnesota Calgary @ Vancouver Phoenix @ San Jose Sunday: Boston @ Washington NY Rangers @ Philadelphia Detroit @ Chicago (anyone who picks Chicago here is a traitor) Los Angeles @ Colorado Buffalo @ New Jersey Pittsburgh @ NY Islanders Tampa Bay @ Florida Edmonton @ Anaheim

5 freaking assists? Niiiiice.

I have nothing but respect for Modano. He's always played with class and skill.
-
At least Abdelkader can contribute to a win without showing up on the score sheet. You can't really say that for Williams...
-
Ovi's been on a >1.5 ppg pace all year, if he played 82 games it'd be a different story. Where'd you hear that Crosby told them to change it? I thought the NHL changed goals/points based on video review performed after each game. Edit: Punctuation
-
Meh, Ovi put more goals up with crap linemates than he has this season. Both Ovi and Crosby are the engines of their teams. You could throw either of them out with a pair of peewee kids and they'd score buckets of goals.
-
What does Williams provide this team with (aside from an ineffective point man on the PP)?
-
Agreed. If only Crosby wasn't forced to play a defensive role on a Western team He only gets, what, 7 mins of PP time a night? Poor guy. That's what the Pens get for running the trap instead of playing a high offense system.
-
There's no chance May goes in for Miller. Face-offs aside, Miller's the single most important forward on the PK. I'd love to see Mursak get a shot for one game instead of Abdelkader. Mursak is an incredible skater. Helm is the only guy in the entire Wings organization who's faster than Mursak. Add to that the fact that Mursak is very good defensively and has soft hands... sweeeet. Jamie something...
-
Ahh to play in the East. Ovechkin's played 10 fewer games. Ten.
-
Agreed. The entire Red Wings team right now is struggling with turn-overs. That goes from the top pairing down to the third pairing and from the top line down to the fourth line. The single most important aspect of puck possession that this team needs to fix is turn-overs. If they can't hold onto the puck and manage it efficiently they're toast in the playoffs. Games like last night won't fly in the post-season.

He was a ghost in the finals when we needed him most. I'll never forgive him for that. If he could've played even half as good as his 7.4 million dollar salary dictated we would've won cup #12.
-
Yeah, I hope Babcock lets him play Friday so he can bounce back from his bad game against the Jackets.
-
Eh? Maybe you're right now that I think about it. We'll see how he bounces back... he was doing well after his benching so maybe tonight was just an off game. Like I said-- Lilja had a brutal night as well so that's not going to do the rookie any favours.
-
Someone's forgetting how brutal Lebda was last game. Lilja caused that first goal E and him were on for-- he miscommunicated with Filppula and they both played the puck which left the man open. Should Lilja sit? Lidstrom caused the Hamburger first goal by giving the puck away... sorry but the weakest link was the entire back end, not the #6 d-man.
