If Filppula could play an 82 game season at the pace he's played over the last 17 games he'd have 10g 48a for 58pts which is a great season for a 3 million dollar guy who is great in the face-off circle and very good defensively.

I'm still keeping track of Filppula and the team's stats since he came back from his injury. As it stands he's got 2g 10a for 12pts in 17 games. That's a 0.706 ppg pace and puts him second only to Datsyuk in points per game among forwards. Zetterberg's only 0.692 ppg since returning from injury (13 games ago). So right now it's pretty hard to criticize Filppula's offensive contribution to the team.

The Wings have never had a 3rd jersey and never should. Very few NHL teams can claim that. There's no reason to mess with a good thing.

Makes sense. Abs clearly needs to get his offensive confidence back and the best way to do that is to play 20 mins a night in GR where he's expected to be a leader.

Well I can definitely believe you saw him recently and weren't impressed. From the games I've watched online lately none of the GR goalies have impressed.

Ozzy's lateral movement was horrible last night but I think you can attribute that to rust as much as anything.

Fair enough. One thing to remember about Hank is his deceptive power and how well he stays on his feet in all situations. He's got one of those low skating strides that keep him up and balanced when others when be knocked down.

The funny thing about their 5 years comment is they can't mean how long he'll take to get to the NHL since he's already in the AHL. He entered the AHL at age 18 (turned 19 in December). That means he'll run out of AHL eligibility (without passing through waivers) by age 21. By allowing him to enter the AHL this early Holland litterally fast-tracked him compared to virtually every other Wings prospect in recent history. No Wings prospect has ever been assigned to the Griffins that young in the history of the Griffins-Wings relationship (8 years now).
