I could give 2 s***s about this article. Ken and Mick are the best. Some of the yoyo's that I heard from other teams should be ashamed to collect a paycheck. The worst is that idiot from Chicago who intentionally mis-pronounces the names of the Wings. I'll take Ken and Mick and yes even Larry any day. Didn't they just give Mickey an award from the HOF for his broadcasting? And didn't Versus have Ken doing play by play games a few months ago. Obviously somebody must like them.

I thought for sure that this would turn into a "tough guy" thread since the guy is only 5'-8. Wait for it...

There are 2 types of players. Guys that want more than anything to win the Cup and guys that want to make as much money as possible. Since Wiz signed a big contract with Columbus, he obviously is in the later category. He will enjoy golf in April with his big bucks. His loss, not ours.

10 teams that will probably not make the playoffs Columbus St. Louis Edmonton Winnipeg Florida Ottawa Toronto Islanders Minnesota Phoenix (8) Teams that might make the playoffs Chicago Calgary Colorado Anaheim Dallas Carolina Rangers New Jersey (12)teams that almost certainly will make the playoffs Detroit Nashville Vancouver Los Angeles San Jose Washington Tampa Bay Pittsburgh Philadelphia Montreal Boston Buffalo It must be about more than who will make the playoffs because IMO, there are only 10 teams including Minny that have zero chance of making the playoffs. He may think that Minny has a better chance than say Calgary...

So the Sharks have dumped Setoguchi and Heatly and gotten in return Havlat and Brent Burns. Are you kidding me? IMO they have gotten worse not better.
-
Marty St. Louis is small also but I'd take him in a heartbeat. It's not about size, it's about heart. That Russsian guy that we have is pretty goos to. Stop with the anti-European crap. That got old 10 years ago...

Oshie is a forward. Big E is a D-man. Supply and demand. There is a shortage of D-men that are FA's. Again, not a valid comparison. 1.5 for Voukon? He should fire his agent.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract
chrisdetroit replied to germanwing's topic in General
Worse than Chicago? Huh? They lost in the first round last year after getting into the playoffs through the back door as an 8th seed then turned around and lost their #2 D-man. And Nashville? The team that doesn't have anybody to score goals? WTF? It's the internet age where anybody that can type can be a hater with no consequences... -
Gagne has been in the league for 11 years, has had concussion and has no upside. Ericsson is in his 3rd year and is only 26. Not a valid comparison

Not true. Since this time last year we have seen big improvements in Helm Howard Datsyuk (he had probably his best playoff) Kronwall Eaves It's not as sexy as signing high priced free agents but the high priced free agents rarely work out. Remember playoff no-show Hossa?
-
Brad Stewart at the trade deadline in 2008. You have a short and selectively negative memory. Oh and we won the Cup that year.
-
It was a mediocre FA class at best. The guy everybody on here wanted was waaaaayyyy over-payed. If we had paid $5M for Wiz for 6 years, people on here would have been going nuts and rightly so. As far as Big Rig, I'm okay with $3.25/year based on his upside. There were no superstar D-men out there and everybody was chasing a D-man. Supply and demand resulted in ridiculous prices.
-
Now that makes zero sense. Vokoun made 5.7M last year. What the hell do the Wings need with a high priced starting goalie. Howie had like a 9.25 save percentage in 11 playoff games and was outstanding. Let's say that we get him at 4-5 mil. Then we sit Howard?
-
Agreed. He is going to the Pens. It makes no sense for him to go anyplace else unless the Pens are not interested or they low ball him and he's really just after the money. Since the Pens have already said that they are interested, they should sign him. If it's a money thing, we aren't interested.

Pronger is having back surgery this summer. No thanks.

It depends on the a lot of things and many times a cup series game is a coin toss, like games 1 and games 2. Either game was a coin flip. 1 bounce changes the outcome.
-
I'm told that when a series is tied 2-2 the winner of game 5 wins the series like 70-80% of the time which statistically makes sense. Looking at just a 50-50 shot like a coin flip, the probability of winning 1 game is 1/2, the probability of winning 2 games is 1/2 x 1/2 or 1/4 which is 25%. But I learned from the '09 finals, anything can happen no matter how improbable.

Latest Rumor: NHL Team Expected to Announce Rebranding in 2012
chrisdetroit replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
Southern teams: Tampa - obviously they have won a Cup and they are improving Carolina - I can't see a team with their name on the Cup changing their name Washington - they have a big fan base Atlanta - already in the process Nashville - could be but they are relatively sucessful Florida - Could be My guess is Florida -
Why would they change Richards? I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Problem is, 4 games in the SCF is unprecedented. Certainly, the hit deserved a suspension. A game or 2 ok, but the remainder of the playoffs? Has it been done before? The league looks stupid because the suspensions seem to be arbitrary. If they want to crack down, fine. They should ramp up the level of suspensions but to go from what 1 game or zero games in the last hit like this to 4. It makes no sense. And I am NOT defending the hit or the guy. I am questioning the way the league hands down suspensions. Life is a little bit different than a hockey game. The guys on the ice know that they can hit or be hit. You are not seriously comparing a hockey game to running over a chick on the road are you?

What a homer. NOBODY has won 2 cups in a row since the Wings in 97 and 98 and in fact nobody has made it back to the finals after winning the Cup in that period but the Wings. You do realize that your team came within 1 bounce of not making it out of the first round don't you? An OT win in game 7 in the first round is all that separates the Canucks from a first round failure. There is lots of luck required to win the cup. Even if you have the best team. To say your team will get the bounces again is just stupid.
-
I'm with you. Holland is not even looking for a forward and certainly not a high priced forward. The only way Richards ends up here is if he pulls a Hossa and calls Kenny asking to make a deal at a discount. As far as the comments in this thread about Hudler, I doubt that he is going anywhere. To get rid of him, Kenny will have to give up a prospect to sweeten the pot. My guess is that Huds gets another year to get back on the right track. He played well in '08 so he is capable and the benching in the playoffs hopefully will serve as a wake-up call.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. They have a long way to go before they are the best team in the league. They had a total of (2) 20-goal scorers last year. Compare that to Vancouver who won the President's trophy - they had (2) 40 goal scorers, a 26, a 19 and an 18. I guess if Nashville picks us a couple of 40 goal scorers, you would be correct. How many 40 goal scorers are on the market?
-
We are not going to sign any FA forwards. Unless we lose both Miller and Eaves, we have to many forwards now. Mursak is out of options so he will be on the team. Draper wants to play another year and we are stuck with Hudler. Jovanovski or Wisniski one of the two will be a Red Wing.
-
I see it coming. They will take Nashville and move them into Atlanta's spot in the southeast then move Minny into the Central and Winnipeg into the Northwest. Geographically this makes the most sense. What I would like to see is: Edmonton-Calgary-Colorado-Vancouver- Winnipeg Minny-St. Louis-Columbus-Nashville-Chicago Islanders-Rangers-Jersey-Boston-Philly Detroit-Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal-Buffalo Pittsburgh-Washington-Carolina-Tampa-Florida This makes sense geographically (except maybe Pittsburgh) but requires to many teams to move. It says that they won't realign THIS YEAR. And that is because the schedule is almost complete and they would rather have Winnipeg travel 1,000,000 miles next season than have a bunch of schedulers have to start over.
