WCQF Game 2 GDT: Coyotes 3 at Red Wings 4

Uh, I said that it is not impossible. Did you read my entire post?

WCQF Game 2 GDT: Coyotes 3 at Red Wings 4

Phoenix has to win 4 of the next 5 to advance. That just is not going to happen. It's not impossible. Pittsburgh did it against us in '09 but Phoenix is not in the same league as Pittsburgh was. We need to end this as quickly as possible and rest up for San Jose (if San Jose doesn't choke again and they are already showing signs of that) or Nashville/Aneheim.

Sarcasm right? Nick is, according to every sports columnist on the net, in the running for another Norris Trophy. Not that good?

I agree with all your comments but the Grey Goose since I am not a martini man, I'll take your word for it. As far as the conspiracy theory, I don't buy it either. BUT, by the league calling more penalties, they essentially make the game more unpredictable for both teams. This is good for the weaker teams like Phoenix because on paper, they have no chance. Throw in more penalty calls and it can only help them. This is not a conspiracy against the Wings or any other team but the affect is more unpredictable outcomes and that is what the league wants - more exciting, unpredictable games. Unfortunately, it is corrupting the nature of the games. That's my 2 cents worth.

Wow. 3 pages and no pessimistic predictions until that "hoping they avoid a split". I think that there are going to be tons of Octopuses on the ice just because the NHL is trying to destroy the tradition. Take that Buttmann! 3-0 Wings. Jimmy gets a... we all know the thing that we will not mention.

    Let's go Stars

From the Chicago HF Boards I had hopes for a dynasty and more cups in the near future. What, with the "elite" core we have and all. I think even the worst fanboy can now see that the core is OVERRATED. It's very possible some players had career years last year and are now showing their true selfs. I'm looking at you, Keith, Seabrook, Kane. Priceless

4/10 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Blackhawks 3

Really? After getting their butts kicked, you predict that they will get their butts kicked again? It usually doesn't work like that. But on LGW, there are lots of gloom and doom members..

I expect a much better performance from the Wings. This is a bounce back game. 3-2 Wings

4/8 GDT: Blackhawks 4 at Red Wings 2

Wow. 3 times huh? They either must be an incredible team or your expectations are off the charts. The Wings have won 46 games this year but you are only satisfied with 3 of those wins.

    Zetterberg leaves against Carolina

Just to clarify. Chicago does not yet have their ticket punched. They are 3 points up with 4 points on the line. If they lose both and Dallas wins against Colorado and Minny, Chicago is out.

Are the Wings going to keep the Hawks out of the playoffs?

Huh? The Hawks do control their own fate if they win the next 2 games but the point is that the 2nd game is on Friday against the Wings. Dallas is playing Colorado twice and Minnesota. I doubt that they are going to let any of those games slip away. As far as wrapping up their playoff berth, it's not mathematically possible until after the Friday game (unless Dallas loses on Thursday). That gives them only 1 game to "tank" and that would be at home to the Wings. No way they "tank" a home game against a team they hate.

    Lidstrom's Chances at Another Norris

Of all the talking heads on the internet, I have not see anybody that says that he won't win it. All the major sites have him winning the Norris.

    The 'delay of game' penalties..

I'd rather have to sit and wait out a review than have a game decided by a bad call. As far as the puck over the glass rule, can we just please get rid of this stupid penalty already? Before the lockout, it was only a penalty if the goaltender did it. Now we have games being decided because of an accident. Nobody intentionally clears the puck over the glass in order to delay the game. And before anybody argues that players will routinely do this if it's not a penalty, think back to before we had the rule, it wasn't an issue. This and the stupid trapezoid rule needs to go. We tried them, they didn't work, now repeal them.

Thank God. I thought I was the only one.

4/2 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Predators 3 (OT)

Chicago won last night but it went to a shoot out which means that our magic number over Chicago is now down to 2. They lost the tie breaker last night. We would now own the tie breaker. Any combination of Chicago losses (in regulation) and Wings wins (in regulation)that equals 2 gives us the division. We have the same number with Nashville which means a win today will knock Nashville out of the running for the division. Unless Dallas decides to start winning soon, Chicago is going to make the playoffs. If Chicago wins their next 3 and Dallas wins their next 4 we go into the final weekend with Chicago up on Dallas by 3 points and the Wings set up to knock the Hawks out of the playoffs. That would be awesome.

4/2 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Predators 3 (OT)

People seem to forget that it is a long season. The Wings kicked ass the first 1/4 of the season and since then have been inconsistent. They have shown "flashes" since then. Remember the Boston series? Or the game against Montreal? Or the 3 in a row on the coast? Of course not. Guess what - Vancouver sucked the first part of the season and so did San Jose and neither was due to injuries. Washington and Philly were dominant a couple of months ago but have fallen off recently. None of that matters when the playoffs start.

4/2 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Predators 3 (OT)

If anybody thinks that we are going to come out flat and get our asses handed to us they haven't been watching the Red Wings for very long. This is a "bounce back" game. The Wings will give 100% effort on this one. The only thing that stands in their way is Rhinne. It may be a close game but I guarantee we will see maximum effort from the Wings. The magic number is 2. Any combination of Wings wins and Preds losses means that the Preds can't win the division. A win tomorrow will wrap this up. If Chicago wins tonight against Columbus which is likely, the magic number for them is 2 1/2 (5 points). So even though this is a "bounce back" game you are going to be pessimistic and predict another embarrassment? Ok then...

3/30 GDT: St. Louis Rams 10 at Detroit Lions 3

I was responding to the irrational babbling that said that the teams were going down the tubes. My point is that before last night, they were playing much better defensively which is not the sign of a team going down the tubes. Who cares how many goals they gave up in October-February. You do realize that the stats that you are referring to are for the entire season don't you. Those stats don't matter. What matters is how they play in the playoffs and how they are playing going into the playoffs. Before last night they were playing well defensively and had slipped a little on offense.

3/30 GDT: St. Louis Rams 10 at Detroit Lions 3

I stopped reading when I got to that part because I realized that this is just irrational. Look at the standings. We are 6 points ahead of Nashville AND we own the tie breaker. That means that for them to win the division and us to end up below 3rd place, they have to gain at least 7 point on us. Each team has 5 games left. Let's suppose that Nashville wins all 5 games for 10 points, that would mean that we would only have to get 4 points in 5 games to win the division. We would only need to win 2 of our last 5 games. BOTH things would have to happen, Nashville 5-0, Detroit 1-3-1. Mathematically that's possible but highly unlikely. So obviously your post is irrational.

3/30 GDT: St. Louis Rams 10 at Detroit Lions 3

What a load of garbage. Before last nights game, the Wings had given up 22 goals in the previous 10 games. That's 2.2 goals/game. So no, the Wings aren't going down the tubes. A zillion shots? WTF does that mean. Losing the capacity to play well. Go watch the Pistons.

3/30 GDT: St. Louis Rams 10 at Detroit Lions 3

We played St. Louis a week or so ago. I remember because it was right after we played the Oilers and there was an enormous different in effort between the two teams. The Oilers were playing all out. The Blues were just going through the motions. Hopefully the same Blues team will show up tonight.

    Boston Vs. Chicago

Great coaching. Empty the tank to squeak out an OT win on the first night of back-to-backs and get shut out on the second night. Brilliant!
