    Mallkin out with torn ACL/MCL

Really? I think Kronner had the same injury and has completely recovered.

2/7 GDT: Rangers 2 at Red Wings 3

The negativity is getting near an all time high which for LGW is really saying something. 3-1 Wings.

    Should Valtteri Filppula be traded?

Exactly, I would trade Flip for a top goaltender but I don't see any of them on the trading block right now.

Malkin never put up the kind of numbers that Feds did but I get your point

    Forsberg Joins Avalanche

I'm going with 1, Pretty funny. The guy with the bad ankles joins one of the fastest teams in the league. I think after he tries it for 1 game, he will realize that he is embarrassing himself. One and done...

We are 3rd in percentage because we have a game in hand on Tampa and 4th in total points. If you want to debate about 1 point versus games in hand, knock yourself out. Vancouver 77 Philly 75 Tampa 69 Detroit 68

I guess you are entitled to your opinion but the facts don't seem to back it up. The Wings are one of the top teams in the league again this year according to every analysis that I have read even if they did lose 2 games in a row. No, it won't last but they did not play like s*** last night or have trouble clearing their zone.

Neither have played enough games to draw such a conclusion. Howard was great last year and Reanne was "decent". Howard has not been great this year and Renne has been excellent. To be "elite" a goaltender has to have a number of great seasons. To soon to tell. Lots of goaltenders have had 1 great season. But I certainly wouldn't take one over the other "any day of the week".

hahahah. It's the 2nd week in February and we have a 5 point lead in our division with a game in hand and we are 3rd in the NHL overall and people are whining about us being "overrated". Short memories and short attention spans

Would you have taken Rinne over Howard last March? No I didn't think so. Last year Rinne had a .911 save pecentage and Howard had a .924. Rinne is hot right now, Howard isn't. People on this forum have very short memories

    Mallkin out with torn ACL/MCL

Tooooooooooooooooooo Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad No Malkin and Crosby a question mark. I doubt that they make it past the first round. They will probably make the playoffs considering that 24 of their games are against the Islanders, Devils, and Rangers...

2/4 GDT: Blue Jackets 3 at Red Wings 0

Huh? Your point is that they are 1 goal games? I think that a high percentage of games in the NHL are 1 goal games. It should be no surprise that most crappy teams get up for games against us. This is especially true for crappy teams in our division. it's pretty hard to get excited about playing Columbus in February when Columbus is most likely out of the playoffs. I expect a lot more effort tonight against Nashville because they are only a few points behind us and we weren't great last night.

I think the Cannucks have a good team but you have to consider the other teams in their division Calgary Edmonton Minnesota Colorado 24 of their games are against these teams

That's the right attitude. Mindfly is that you?

Datsyuk & Holmstrom more than likely won't play this weekend

I hope so but Nashville is tough at home and it's the second of back to back with travel in between. Also my guess is that MacD will get the start. Should we win? Yes but it will be tough.

    2/2 GDT: Franzen 5 + Red Wings 2 (7) at Senators (5)

He scores on average 1 goal every other game. If that's what you call floating, then I wish the other guys would start floating.

    2/2 GDT: Franzen 5 + Red Wings 2 (7) at Senators (5)

Yea. Because he hasn't been trying all year. For Christ's sake, the guy scores 5 goals in a game and is on pace for 43 and you rag on him.

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

I don't know why you keep defending Snow. He has a contract for a guy that refuses to play for him. It's embarrassing that Nabokov would even refuse to report to the team. He could have avoided that with a simple phone call. The team sucks so badly that the guy is refusing to even put on the uniform and has said so publicly. Kenny signed a guy with the hopes that he would clear waivers and unfortunately he didn't. That happens all the time. In fact it happened to St. Louis twice recently. I am not sure how Kenny embarrassed himself. There was no way that he could have known for certain how it would turn out short of calling all 29 GM's. It was a long shot but no harm, no foul.

The Wings will not be sharp and Howard sucks. I wish we were Philadelphia. 4-1 Sens. HAHAHA Just kidding. I was pretending to be Mindfly. 4-1 Wings

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Key word here is IF. The Islanders would have to get the league to toll the contract and it is expected that the union would fight this. You are correct though - IF the contract is tolled then Snow has the ability to trade him to any team that Nabby wants to go to next year and he won't have to pass through waivers. Snow could then get something out of this fiasco IF the league and the NHLPA agree to toll the contract and then, IF they are able to work out a trade and IF Nabby agrees to the trade. Nobody in the hockey world thought that a team that is out of the playoffs would have any use for a 35 year old goaltender for a period of 3 months.

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Would you rather be the goaltender for the worst team in the league for the next 3 months with little or no fan support and no chance to make the playoffs or sit at home. Nabby has already publiclly told us his answer. He has a NMC. I think that means in either case, he gets to decide who he plays for.

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

In a "normal" situation you would be correct but this isn't a normal situation. If Snow trades him (with Nabby's blessing), he still has to clear waivers. If I'm a GM of a team with interest why would I risk trading for Nabby and sending an asset to the Islanders when I might lose it all to the waiver wire. Several things have to happen simultaneously for Snow to benefit from this fiasco. You are ignoring the fact that Nabby will be exposed to waivers if he is traded and assume that his new team is willing to risk that and you are also assuming that Nabby will agree to the trade. To many if's. Snow's best move would have been not to claim him in the first place unless he had prior agreement from Nabby that he would actually play for the Islanders. His only way out of the mess now is to first find out who would claim him off of waivers and the work out a deal with that team before hand. Problem is, Nabby gets to reject those deals and my guess is that there are a few teams that might be interested that Nabby will veto. OR just waive him with no deal and let it become somebody else's problem.
