Wow. Now you pessimism is going beyond 1 game at a time. Why don't you just predict that they will lose every game now then you won't have to psot for the rest of the season.

I was worried about this game yesterday when I read one of the teams say something like "this is just another game against a divisional foe". That is correct just another game against the #11 team in the west. But for Chicago, it was a game against big Brother and they obviously played harder. I expect a great effort against Dallas tomorrow as the Wings want Ozzie to get #400. It's tough to stay motivated all season especially when playing a non-playoff team like Chicago. I think the Wings no longer treat Chicago as if they are a threat.

we got shutout and it's our goalie's fault that we lost. Unbelievable. -
The Pens beat us in 09 because they clearly were the better team. And IF they hd won all of there first 20 games they would be far out in front. Your logic is amazing.
-
Damn! I knew that name would come up. What about Forsberg? I heard he thinks that he might be able to skate...
-
Cancel the game. They only have the ice refrigeration equipment for 1 site.

Are you kidding? Lid's #5 jersey will be raised to the rafters the season after he retires just like Yzerman's was. Now I'm not comparing the 2 but "a few years after" WHAA?
-
If you look at the roster, it is obvious that the team is underachieving. I think a coaching change is in order. They should be playing better than they are. Worst in the league? That's a bit of a stretch.

And learns to fight. God I hope he's Canadian. He is Canadian isn't he?

Is it true that the league announced at the begining of the season that the outdoor game will rotate among all northern cities with each one given the opportunity to play Cindy and the Pens 2011 Washington at Pittsburgh 2012 Pittsburgh at Minnesota 2013 Pittsburgh at Detroit 2014 New York Rangers at Pittsburgh 2015 Pittsburgh at Buffalo 2016 Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh* * 2016 will be a celebration of all things related to the Pens so the All Star game, the Outdoor Game and the Stanley Cup finals will all be in Pittsburgh. There will also be an HBO Special entitled "The Pens - an NHL Dynasty" The 2016 Outdoor Game will be the current Pens team versus the Pens alumni. How could you forget Robert "lazy and sucks" Lang

1 game means nothing. Marty finished last year with a .916 save percentage in the regualar season. His career regular season is .914 so I don't by the "slide" that you refer to. He had a bad playoff last year at .881 but the year before he had a .929 playoff. And he had 9 shut-outs last year. With goaltending it's always about long-term and averages. Marty is not at the peak of his career but he is still better than some of the goaltenders that the media loves like Niemi and Fleury.

I saw that too and had the same reaction. I went and looked it up. There is only 1 player in the entire league worse than that. James Wiesnieski is at -20. That ranks Kovy at 741/742 players. Incidetly, Andy Greene (NJD) is also -18.
-
Yeah but who wants to wait 49 years to win 1 cup and then the following year go back to being mediocre.
-
Not true. In your mind maybe but if you ask all of the hockey writers, GM's coaches, etc. I guarantee that some of them will pick other defenseman over Orr. My point is that it is debatable so to say that "there is no question" is just wrong.
-
That's an interesting idea. We didn't win the Cup in '09 because we only scored 1 goal in game 6 and 1 in game 7. In both games Ozzie only alowed 2 goals (each). Our losing in '09 was not Ozzie's fault but your argument is that it cost him immortality...

#5 is the only number that should be going up there in the near future. Lids has won 6 Norris trophies, not seven unless you are counting 2010-2011. I'm with Mindfly (this time only). Here's the Goaltenders in the HHOF. Sorry but Ozzie doesn't fit with these guys. 1945: Charles Robert "Chuck" Gardiner 1945: Georges Vezina 1958: Alex Connell 1958: Frederick Hugh Lehman 1959: Cecil "Tiny" Thompson 1961: George Hainsworth 1964: William Ronald Durnan 1965: Clinton S. "Clint" Benedict 1966: Francis Charles Brimsek 1967: Walter Edward "Turk" Broda 1969: Roy Worters 1971: Terrance Gordon "Terry" Sawchuk 1972: Harry "Hap" Holmes 1973: Claude Earl "Chuck" Rayner 1975: Glenn Henry Hall 1976: John William Bower 1978: Joseph Jacques Plante 1980: Harry Lumley 1980: Lorne "Gump" Worsley 1983: Ken Dryden 1984: Bernard Marcel Parent 1985: Gerald Michael "Gerry" Cheevers 1987: Edward "Eddie" Giacomin 1988: Anthony James "Tony" Esposito 1989: Vladislav Tretiak 1993: William John "Billy" Smith 2003: Grant Fuhr 2006: Patrick Roy

The Wings are fired up for this game and when they are fired up they almost always win. Montreal has a good team but if the Wings bring their A game, nobody can beat them. I agree that Hudler needs to get his stuff together but honestly, I rather see him play than Drapes.
-
Nice. Are you going to come back tomorrow if they win and admit you were wrong? I didn't think so.
-
That's not what the coach thinks “I didn’t think he had an opportunity,” Babcock said of Howard. “The last one, he got a shoulder on it and it went in the joint. I don’t know what you want him to do on the other two. Both of them were the same kind of plays by the net. Our (defense) should have had the first one sorted out, and the second one went off (Ericsson).”
-
Once again, the Wings scored only 2 goals. You don't win many games in the NHL scoring only 2 goals. You can't blame the lack of goal scoring on Howard. Don't know if you heard but they had a couple of injuries last year.
-
Wait. I thought that the League had already announced at the begining of the season that the award was going to be given to Crosby this year.
-
s***! No HD. That sucks. Brighthouse needs to get their s*** together. I want my Wings in HD.
-
I know that it is the rule, but the rule sucks. If everybody complains about them enough, MAYBE they will get changed. As far as the outcome of the game, if that was ruled a goal, it changes the momentum of the game. Suddenly it's 2-0 and maybe the Sharks feel a little worse about themselves and the Wings feel a little better. Momentum is huge in hockey so who knows what would have happened.

I disagree. If we were looking at TOTAL goals you would be correct. The top guy (Crosby in this case) could just be on fire, then it wouldn't matter but the origninal post was about how the goals are distributed in %. I think that the original post is bang on. Shut down Crosby and the Pens are done. Hockey is a team sport not an individual sport. The Pens are winning because 1 guy is scoring more than 1/4 of their goals. This is not a recipe for sucess. If you look at the other goal scorers on the Pens, nobody else is even in the top 60 in the league. My guess is that the Oilers had other goal scorers ranked in the top of the league. I looked up 1983. Gretzky #1 87 goals Kurie #3 52 goals Coffey #7 40 goals So yea, Gretzky had a high % of the team goals but they still had other goal scorers in the top of the league. The Pens don't currently have that
