Not a valid comparison. NONE of those guys that you mentioned had any sucess in the NHL. Hudler had a very sucessful season in the NHL (57 points in 82 games) and in the playoffs when he helped us win the Cup in 08. He had 12 points in 23 playoff games in '08. Hudler isn't going anywhere. If there are no injuries, he will rotate in and out of the line up all year. If he doesn't improve, he will sit most nights. I don't see the Wings givingup on a proven performer after 15 games. Nice. Does your mom know that you are using the compuer?

Name 1 goaltender that hasn't had 4 "bad games" in a short period of time. That's what I thought. Howard is fine. He hasn't been sharp the last few games but he has proven that he has the ability and he's still learning. How was our defenense from the Olympic break to the end of the season last year? How did we get to a record of 13-4-2 this year with a poor defensive coach? Progressively worse? Based on what? 2-3 games?

Absolutely. This intent to blow the whistle is BS. Review the goal. If the goalie had control the play is dead, if he didn't then it's a goal. Why the frick is this so damn difficult. I don't care about anybody's intent. He either had control or he didn't. This should be reviewable and challageable.

Mindfly's stats the last 2 SEASONS "the sky is falling"
-
What happens if we trade Huds for prospects and one forward goes down to injury? Fortunately Kenny is not as short sighted as you are.
-
You're kidding right? Hudler scored 23 goals in his last season in the NHL which was only 2 years ago. Eaves scored 20 goals 5 years ago in his rookie season. That is obviously not a valid comparison. I get it, you don't like Hudler because he's not a fighter but don't make things up to justify your hate.
-
I forgot that it was Mindfly. Incidently Hudler has only played in 15 games. Hudler was great 2 years ago and last year he was awesome playing in Europe where obviously the game is different but he as proven in the last 2 years that: 1. He is very talented 2. He can put up 20+ goals in the NHL And now people are giving up on him after 15 games. I'll bet there are a few other guys in the league who didn't play well for 15 or more games. He has the talent and he has the ability so give him a break

You want to give up on him already...

Every thread eventually comes back to this....

Really. The Blues dominated the first 10-15 minutes of the second period. Then the Avs had a puck go in off of a guys chest followed quickly by a perfect top corner shot by one of the Avs. Game over. I thought the Blues looked great for most of the 2nd period. Are you serious. Chicago has tanked, Nashville and Columbus are near .500 and St. louis is the only team giving the Wings any competition.

I think they made the list beore the season started which is FUBAR. Why the hell would they do that? Another example of a screwed up league. The Montreal fans will stuff the ballot box anyway. The All Stars shoud be picked by the players and coaches. 1 ballot per person, all write ins since letting the fans vote as many times as they want from a list that is created before the season starts is just plain stupid. Can't the NHL do anything right?
-
You forgot their one major flaw - goal scoring. They are playing great defensively and Halak has been awesome but they are currently ranked #26 in the league in scoring. They aren't going very far if they can't score.
-
And that's based on what? TWELVE GAMES Were you sleeping during Probability and Statistics 101? Then when Smith has 1 Bad year we can trade him and bring in the next guy until he has a bad rookie year then we trade him and bring in the next guy until....
-
I agree but unfortunately, they will never get rid of the shootout. I'd be happy if every game was worth 3 points. 3 for a regulation or OT win, 2 for a SO win, 1 for a SO loss and zero for a regulation loss. IMO an OT win is as good as a regulation win as long as "normal" hockey is being played and 4 on 4 is close enough.

a bankrupt ice hockey team in the desert that the league owns despite that fact that a Canadian city or two would die for a team a tv contract with a network that the majority of people can't get a skills competition deciding 14% of the games a salary cap that forces teams to be dismantled after winning 1 championship a win/lost point system that over-values the skills competition non-reviewable calls that can have resulted in the wrong calls being made despite videos clearly showing that they were wrong a marketing campaign that only shows commericals for hockey on hockey channels Several hockey teams in non-hockey markets that are losing money every year the inability of the fans to watch an out of market hockey game without paying for it etc

You are forgetting something. We have 1 extra forward (excluding Draper). If anybody is injured we have 0 extra. Hudler has only played what 10 games and you want to dump him. What happens then when somebody goes down to injury? Who fills tha spot.
-
Huh? They dominated the first 2 periods. Did you even watch the game? Well said. They go to California though in only 3 weeks and some of those games are 10:30...

15 games in, the Hawks are an even .500 team. 15 points in 15 games. .500 teams are usually on the outside looking in in April. As the Wings know, when you dig yourself a hole early, it's hard to climb out of. The Wings did it last year but it was due to the return of many of there injured players coming back. The only significant injury on the Hawks is Hossa. There's still a long way to go but as I said earlier, the bandwagon will be empty by Christmas.

defensive pesimism...I told you so.

What a load of crap. Leino did nothing while he was here, to compare the two is stupid. Hudler had 23 goals 2 years ago and you make the stupid statement that he doesn't seem to fit into our system. Don't let the facts get in the way of your rant.
-
You missed the point. An NHL shooter (even George Parros) can easily score on a big goalie that isn't mobile. Take 2 goalies with the same mobility one big and one small and the results are almost the same. The size makes little difference. How many shots. 10, 15, 20.. I don't remember but George was able to score on almost every shot against a goalie that was so big he was blocking almost the entire net. And this wasn't Alex O, it was George frickin Parros. You are right, it was not a scientific experiment and nobody said that it "proved" anything but it's pretty hard to dismiss.
-
My point is that I will take a small goalie with great mobility over a big goalie anytime. Big does not necesarilly mean better.
-
You lost me on that one. One of the worst ever? Give me a break. We get it that you hate Lilja that you make irrational statements like that.
-
What a load of crap. Even the average shooter? I saw a piece on the Discovery channel where they looked at how size helps with goaltenders. They put a fat suite on a normal sized goaltender to test the theory that larger goaltenders had an advantage. Then they had Grorge Perros of all people shoot. They picked George because he rarely scores goals. The result - the fat suit did not help at all. The point is that size does NOT matter for goaltenders. It's all about quick reactions and mobility. So your theory is flat out wrong. A small goaltender with great mobility and quick reactions will beat your 6'-3" guy everytime.
