You are biased because you want to ignore the facts that don't support your argument. The best stats to determine defensive ability (though not a perfect one) is +/- and Homer's is pretty good. Not fantastic but not bad. Instead, you want to base your opinion on "what you see" instead of the facts. That my friend is biased. There's nothing wrong with having an opinion. Everybody is entitled to one but your's isn't supported by some of the facts.
-
Oh for Christ's sake. Anything that he does well is because of somebody else and anything that he doesn't do well is his fault. Talk about a biased opinion...
-
You should look at the facts. Bert had the WORST +/- on the entire team 32nd out of 32 guys. And there were 6 guys on the team that were better than +10 Conroy +20 Bourque +18 Glencross +14 Sarich +12 Lombardi +11 Regher +10 He didn't have a bad +/- because of the team he was on.
-
Huh? Where did you come up with that? Homer is a career +38 in the regular season and +23 in the playoffs. He has had 6 straight years since his last - year. And +/- doesn't count on the powerplay when he scored many of his goals.
-
Not much. Bert is a 3rd or 4th line guy. He used to be 1st or 2nd but those days are gone. I don't think it's a good idea to put a guy that was -13 last year on the first or second line. Do you?
-
Bert on the first line? You aren't serious?
-
I guess we will have to just disagree then
-
LOL. I like to look a little deeper than the headlines... I wish other people would too.

Maybe some people think that but I give credit where credit is due. Sometimes in sports the best teams win, sometimes they don't. If you feel that the best team always wins then that's you perogative. I don't feel that the Pens were the best team last year. They were certainly good but if they didn't get alot of breaks they would not have won. In 2008 when the Wings won the Cup, they blew through everybody. After benching Hasek, they won 9 games in a row. Dallas fought back after the series was all but over and Pittsburgh managed only a single 1 goal win at home and a triple OT win. This year the Pens had to win 2 seperate 7 game series and played against a team of "walking wounded" in the finals. If you think the Pens are the better team, that's your opinion. Technically the are the "Stanley Cup Champions" but IMO the Championship was tainted. To state that the "Staley Cup Champion Pens" did this or that as what was stated is a bit silly.
-
By the way, what was the final score? I asked before and nobody answered. Is this kinda like the elections in Iran?
-
Please don't use that phrase on this board. Yes the Pens won the Cup but they were not the best team in the league last year either in the regular season or the playoffs. They won because they got all the breaks plain and simple.

I think Bert should be on the first line with Dats because he's big and tough...

Any thread that is titled "so and so sucks" is pretty much guaranteed to be a stupid thread.

Oh come on now. Lilja is an enforcer now. And Drake. Yea ok. But how come we need enforcers only in the regular season? Look, I'm ok if people like to watch fights. I agree it's entertaining but that's all it is. We don't NEED enforcers to win. We proved that by winning the Cup without them but they are fun to watch.
-
IMO this whole "we need enforcers" argument went down the crapper in June of 2008 when we won the Cup without them. We actually had enforcers in Downey who never saw the ice and Mac who saw very limited time (6:22 per game in the 17 games and 0 in the other 5) I don't know how you can argue that. We didn't use enforcers and we won. What happened? We got lucky and won 16 games? Can anybody give me a rational explanation? Am I missing something?
-
Yes, I keep up with the news but it don't see it happening. They might give him a 2 way contract but he isn't going to play for the Wings unless their are injuries and Abby will get first dibs. Abby is part of the Wings future, Brad May isn't.
-
And what is that based on? They've played 2 games and Homer has 1 goal and 0 asssists. His +/- is even. How exaclty is he hurting the team?
-
I think you had your martinis BEFORE you posted this because it is just silly. Brad May doesn't even have a contract with the Wings. He is unlikely to see the ice at the Joe at all. Do you really think that we are going to sign May and bring him up while we are sending Abdelkader to Grand Rapids? And the results of the poll were what? What was the tally and how many of the registered users voted? whatever...

Will You Be Surprised if the Wings dont make the Playoffs?
chrisdetroit replied to RyanK's topic in General
Stupid. Just fricking stupid. The Wings haveabout as much chance of missing the playoffs as the lions have of making the playoffs. -
