I agree. I don't see this as enough to put them over the top. And if Luongo doesn't learn to play better in the playoffs, it really doesn't matter which 40 year old d-man they sign

Sorry but the precedant was already set when the League scheduled back to back games in the fianls for the first time in 50 years. This was CLEARLY a disadvantage to the Wings yet it was allowed to happen. You can't count on fairness from the league. This is the same league that is fighting tooth and nail to keep a team in the desert that has lost money every year of it's exisistence. No, don't count on those idiots for help...

"He desires to be a tremendous role model and I believe that he is," Cambria said. Yea he's a role model alright.

I'm surprised that he didn't even have to pay to have the cabbie's glasses fixed. I mean come on, not even a fine. Community service? Nothing. Wow. The ******* should have at least done some community service.

The problem is that it is not strictly a probability issue, there are many factors that influence the pairings that are not purely chance. For example, if you take away those factors, the probability of any two teams playing each other like Detroit playing Columbus are the same as any other matchup. That is IF it were all just chance. Los Angeles playing Colorado in the WCF would be just as probable as Detroit playing Chicago. But we all know that those other factors skew the probabilities enormously. The probability of Los Angeles playing Colorado in the WCF is near zero but the probability of Detroit playing San Jose is much higher. Without Beachamin and Pronger, the probability of Aneheim beating the Sharks is much different than it was this past season. I get your point though, IF all of the factors remained the same as last year, the probability of having the same pairings as last year is NOT AT ALL effected by what happened last year. This is a common misunderstanding about probabilities. If you flip a coin 1000 times and it comes up heads each time the probability that the 1001 flip will be heads is still 50%. The probability of you flipping 1001 coins and them all coming up heads is (0.50)^1001 or almost zero. This misunderstanding is a big reason why there are such elaborate buildings in Las Vegas.

That's ridiculous. 8 teams with Cup potential. Are you serious? I see at the most 3-4 Detroit, San Jose, Vancouver, Calgary. Chicago has a goaltending and defense problem Aneheim took a maor hit in losing Pronger and Beauchamin Even if you throw in Chicago and Aneheim, who are the other 2? Columbus? St. Louis? Be serious

Yea, in the regular season but he was brought in specifically to give them some veteran leadership to get them over the playoff hump. We all know how well that turned out.
-
They could trade Marleau or Thorton to Edmonton for 2 or 3 cheap forwards and they would be all set. They back-up goaltending, lack of leadership and inexperienced head coach will keep them from going anywhere though.
-
The term "leader" and Marleau do not belong in the same discussion. Hence the lack of playoff success.
-
What kind of logic is that? You could say that about anybody. Helm, Ericsson, Fillpula are all one more year experinced and should have better seasons. Kane also showed that he doesn't have what it takes in the playoffs against guys like Z.

Really? The Wings are going to drop to 4th because we lost Hossa and Jiri Hudler? And the Hawks are going to win the division after losing their #1 scorer nad their starting goaltender because......??? Because they got Hossa but he will miss best case 1/3 of the season. Everybody agrees Philly got better but the Pens are still better than them? Really? I agree with many of the others but this is just a bunch of the same old crap. Pens are still great, Chicago is going to take giant steps and the Wings are going down the tubes. I'm ok with peoplemaking predictions but usually there should be some logic to them. Thses predictaions remind me of Obamacare. We will pay for 2/3 of the cost by making it more efficient.....yea right.

He could go to San Jose and play with the other old washed-up D-men Rob Blake....
-
The first thing he would do is kick Kane's ass for beating up a 60 year old cab driver. Somebody need to do it!

Which Team Has a Better Chance of Making it Back to the Finals?
chrisdetroit replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
IMO the Pens are not the best team in their conference. Boston is a much deeper team and I don't think that it is close. The Best teams in the West are Detroit and San Jose with Chicago a distant 3rd. Unless San Jose suddenly learns how to play playoff Hockey, I think we are looking at an original 6 match-up with Detroit and Boston. I don't see Chicago as a big challenge especially with Huet in goal, a loss of their #1 scorer in Havlat and Hossa being out for 1/3 of the season. Plus we all know how Hossa performs in the playoff unless he's on Wing with Crosby.... -
Wow. A little cynical aren't you?

National writer: Don't bury Red Wings yet
chrisdetroit replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I'm with you. The Wings want vengence for the debacle that was the finals - a ridiculous amount of injuries to only the Wings and not the Pens, a schedule that was just plain stupid, waiver of what was supposed to be an automatic suspension to the Pens best player, the bad puck-luck and the complete change to the way the game was officiated from the 2008 playoffs. The Wings want the Cup back that should have been theirs... -
I just hope that we go out and sign some big tough Canadian kids. I am sick and tired of all these soft figure skating Europeans. Can we get Bertuzzi AND Joe Thorton? How bout Tootoo or Laraque? Is Grorge Parros available?

I would image that the weather is only one part of it. If Edomnton had an organization like the Wings, I'd bet that players would overlook the weather. But with a so-so team and crappy weather, forget it. By the same token, good weather but crappy teams doesn't cut it. Lastly, as any idiot knows, people in warm weather locations don't have much interest in Hockey. That's why it would be stupid to put hockey teams in Florida, Arizona, Tennessee, Georgia, Southern Caifornia, etc.

Here are actual pictures of the 2 hookers

Oh, wait this is even better, Bert on the 1st line with 2 of the best defensive forwards in the entire league. I think that people must be confusing the Todd Bertuzzi that we signed with the Todd Bertuzzi of 2002. First line with Pavs and Z. hahahahahahahahahah
-
I saw the forum title and had to open it knowing that somebody would undoubtably put Bert on the 2nd line. And there it is. Todd frickin Bertuzzi on the 2nd line of the best team in the NHL. hahahahahahahaha

The Wngs are NOT going to send Maltby to GR. That would be a slap in the face and that's not how the organization works. My guess is Eaves would get sent down.

We lost 88 goals and get back 76 goals - Good Job Kenny!
chrisdetroit replied to Snazzy's topic in General
I agree that Kenny did a good job as usual but that's fuzzy math. You are comparing the production of 4 guys with the production of 6. Also if you count Big Rig's goals you have to delete Lilja's (both of them). Also Bert hasn't seen 20 goals since before his back surgey 4 years ago. Williams has only scored 20 goals once in his 9 year career and that was 5 years ago when he had 21. A little bit over optimistic but it's good to see optimism on LGW once and awhile
