I just hope that we sign a big Canadian guy that can fight. Is Bertuzzi available?
-
If he had been signed by the Wings, he would be in Grand Rapids not in the NHL. That's part of the problem, he never had to pay his dues. It is a privelage to play for the Wings and you have to earn it. Part of that is long bus rides between venues in the AHL. There are also guys like Downey and Mac in GR and a guy like Jiri Fischer that teach you how to act on and off the ice. Kane is a spoiled brat that never had to earn his trip to the NHL.
-
You are right, I missed the stealing part. I don't think "every one of us" steals though. I sure as hell don't.
-
Bulls***. Every one of those things that you mentioned are "victimless" crimes. What Kane did was beat up a 60 year old man. That it a hell of a lot worse than lighting off fireworks.
-
The fact that the cab driver was not arrested for anything tells me all I need to know. I'm siding with the cab driver rather than the 20 year old millionaire that was getting in a cab at 2:00 in the morning. Even if the cab driver saaid something or tried to stiff him, Kane should have been smart or mature enough to walk away. It's one thing to get in a fight during a hockey game but getting in a fight with an old man cab driver at 2 in the morning... If he isn't guilty of the crime then he is guilty of stupidity.

This Patrick Kane thing reminds me of Eddie Belfour MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Florida Panthers goalie Ed Belfour was arrested at a popular South Beach bar early Monday after a scuffle with a police officer. Belfour and teammate Ville Peltonen were at the bar when security guards from the club asked police to make Belfour leave, police said. The 41-year-old hockey player refused and walked toward the officer "in a fighting stance" and pushed him, a Miami Beach police report said. Belfour pulled away from the officer trying to arrest him and grabbed his shirt. The hockey player then fell forward on the ground, kicking and refusing to place his hands behind his back, the report said. Belfour had slurred speech, blood shot eyes and smelled of alcohol, police said. He was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence. hahhahahah

That's too much of a generalization. We still have some stars that are classy. You think that Z or Pavs or Lids would do this? Or even a young guy like Helm. No way.
-
This says alot about the Hawks. Evidently they don't have somebody like Jiri Fischer whose job it is to teach young players how to act both on and off the ice. Can you imagine a young Red Wing player doing this? Me neither. This is worse than the Johnathan Toews quote last year. "We kind of feel like the Boston Celtics almost -- I'm kidding," said Hawks captain Jonathan Toews, who had two assists -- though the Hawks are almost halfway to the Celtics' recently ended 19-game winning streak. I really hate braggards. And I hate people that treat others badly.

Exactly. As ussual the LGW crowd were hoping for a tough guy like "broke back" Bert or even Grier. That's what it's all about, they didn't get their tough guy.

Yea Lids is 39 but he was also a runner up for the Norris Trophy this past year. That means that he is one the top 3 D-men in the league. Ralfi finished the regular seaon tied for 3rd in points in the league. He was tied with guess who? - Lids and Neidemeyer. In the playoffs, Lids and Ralfi were tied for #1 in +/-. Lids finished #1 in points and Ralfi was #4. This is despite Lids playing 21 of 23 games and Ralfi playing 18 of 23. So unless they go from two of the best d-men in the league to crap in 1 year, I don't follow your logic. Neither has shown signs of slowing down. You think that they are going to fall apart in 1 year?
-
What are you trying to say? We will contend for the cup or we won't? Pick one or the other...
-
hahahahah. Funny There is a bit of a problem with that though. They have a $22.4M cap hit comitted to 3 guys until 2012-2013 so they cannot add significant talent and they traded away their best prospects to get Hossa so how exactly are they going to win all these cups?
-
What a bunch of negative bulls***. kennys kinda chalkin up this season as a loss The STUPIDEST thing that I have read on LGW in a long time

Can you tell me with a straight face that the Pens were the best team in the league last year? Yeah, they won the cup and they played hard and deserved it but I doesn't matter which enforcer they picked up, they are not going to be a threat this year. They won't defend the title. The Pens were IMO the 4th "best" team in the playoffs last year. The top three were Detroit Boston Aneheim Not necessarily in that order. Aneheim lost in a brutal 7 game series to Detroit, Detroit lost the cup in game seven to the Pens while their top 2 D-men and their top forward were playing injured. Boston lost in OT in game 7 to Carolina. The 4th best team won the cup and enforcers had noting to do with it. Eric who?

The game has changed and you haven't. The NHL is more popular now than it ever was. Maybe it's time for you to move on.

Pronger already signed with Philadelphia.

Sportsnet: Hudler awarded 2 year deal 5m total; Still KHL bound
chrisdetroit replied to DatsyukownzU13's topic in General
I'm thinking that he originally wanted to stay with the Wings. That's why he filed for arbitration which is merely a chess move so that no other NHL team can negotiate with him until the arbitration hearing. My guess is that he was approached by the KHL AFTER he filed for arbitration. And I don't blame him, not many people would turn down that kind of offer. He's gone now let's move on... -

NHL Investigating Hossa & Pronger's contracts
chrisdetroit replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
From TSN It seems that they had a "secret agreement" that Hossa would retire before the contract expired. I wonder if he was inspired by Kwame.... -
They replaced Havlat's 29 goals with Hossa's 40 but the lost Hossa for 1/3 of the season. So the goal scoring is more or less a wash. They downgraded from Kabibulin to Huet. They added John Madden who scored 7 goals and was a -7 last year. They added Kopy and well.... They fired their GM and placed him with a guy that's never done the job before. I'm not sure what they did that makes them better than last year. Am I missing something?

That post made my day
-
Yes, his skills have dropped off a little and it's happened 1 year in a row now. But you think that it is happening "more rapidly than most". Tell us how you arrived at that conculsion and more importantly how you know more than "most". hahahahahah
-
Wow. Those are some interesting opinions. I believe that it was Cleary that got in a fight with dickhead (Pronger) last year and Pronger tore him up. He missed some games because of it. So, I'm not so sure the Wings should be fighting the dickhead. As far as Lids, in case you haven't heard he was a finalist for the Norris Trophy again last year. That points "Mr. declining skills" as no worse than the 3rd best d-men in the entire league.
-
Because he has steadily declined every year since he left. Goals - 40, 29, 23, 6 (34 games) +/- +29, +2, -2, -2 The first year listed is his last year with the Wings. He's 40 years old now. I don't know how anybody could look at this objectively and conclude that we would want him back.
-
Really? Why do you think that? I don't remeber other players missing that much time due to their first concussion. I'm not a doctor but based on his injury and the time he has been out, your opinion seem to be a little (ok a lot) pessimistic. Any doctors in the house who could weigh in?
