    Still Champions

Huh? 30 other teams went to the finals? Glass half empty? So of the 75 seaons that the Wings played 64 of them were failures? I'll bet that you are a pleasure to be around.

Rafalski, Stuart, Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom and Filppula

Wrong on that one Eva. Kopy is an unrestricted Free Agent and made $500 k last year (cap hit). No way that he signs for $575. He's probably $700k or so at least. Everybody gets a raise when they become UFA's Best player in the league for $500k? You should check your facts first. Here's a couple guys that are MUCH better for the same money. Kris Versteeg $490k Scott Clemmenson $500k

That puzzles me. Are you saying that Babcock doesn't decide who plays and who goes to GR? I never said Kopy was useless, I just commented that we don't need him to just fill a spot.

Rafalski, Stuart, Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom and Filppula

That WAS true but not anymore. Babcock has already said that Helm Ericsson and Jay are not going back to GR. Therefore, we need spots for them and we don't need anybody to help fill spots.

I'm with you. I am sure that Kenny is or has at least considered it. If he keeps Hossa he has to shed some significant salary and if Stuart, Kronwall, Ralfi, Homer, Draper and Malts are off the table - and I think they are, Flip has to be considered because of his salary. Losing Sammy and Huds isn't going to be enough. This is why this is a tough decision. If he keeps Hossa, he may have no choice but to trade Flip. Hossa or Flip? I'd take Hossa but it would also suck to lose Flip. That's why Kenny makes the big bucks...

Favorite team or teams OTHER than the Wings

Anybody that is playing against the following is my favorite for the night: Anaheim - our real rivals San Jose - our real rivals in the regular season Pittsburgh - our pretend rivals Chicago - our future rivals

What would people think about getting these players?

We need Lilja. He's very good on the PK and our #1 shot blocker.

Please don't anybody mention Fedorov Shanahan Lang Kozlov (Slava) Lapointe Hasak Joseph Dandenault or any other former Wings

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers

Think of some of the names that were playing injured or not playing becuase of injuries Lidstrom, Rafalski, Datsyuk, Cleary, Draper, Lilja, Ginchar Yes, it COULD HAVE BEEN an epic series

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers

Really? Talent but no depth? And Pittsburg has depth? Pittsburgh has almost no depth. I think that if Boston hadn't lost that game seven in OT to the Canes, Boston would have been hoisting the cup. IMO that is one of the biggest reasons Pittsburgh won the cup. 1. Detroit's Injuries 2. The ridiculous schedule 3. Malkins non-suspension 4. Boston's game 7 OT loss to Carolina The hokcey gods were very good to the Pens. I don't expect them to be as blessed next year.

    Interesting Datsyuk Stat

You mean the same Pavel Datsyuk that just won his second consecutive Selke award given to the top defensive forward in the league? That Pavel Datsyuk. I'll take him any day over Malkin or Ovie.

Why are these Pens fans STILL here? This is getting annoying. Go home for Christ's sake.

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers

You are kidding right. The Pens won 1 cup. It took 7 games and they won because the Wings were the walking wounded. The year before that they got pummeled in the finals. And you are comparing them to the Oilers and Islanders. You have completely lost all sense of objectivity. Give me a break.

    Dallas Drake, Version 2.0

Please God, don't let anybody mention Fedorov...
  16. The Wings let it slip out of their hands this year. They had it... I think that this will be motivation for next year. The Pens will lose in the first round.
  17. We had that last year. Remeber the result? And IMO the Pens last year were better than this year.

Congratulations to your team for a great finals series

    Well said.

Detroit to offer Hossa long term deal

Aw but in 10 years the cap will be much higher. Due to the laws of compounding interest, if the cap were to go up at the rate of inflation. Lets say that cap goes up a modest 4% each year. In 10 years then the cap is 82 mil. To high, how bout 2% then 68 mil. Before you jump up and down about the cap going down, you have to look at it long term. 10 years is a pretty good indicator for averages. If you factor in recessions and inflation the average rate for the US in the last 96 years is 3.41% which includes recession. So an 80+ mil cap 10 years from now is very reasonable.

Why the frick are you still here? It's been 5 days. Shouldn't you be on the Pens boards celebrating instead of over here talking s***. Go away.

Detroit to offer Hossa long term deal

We NEED Lilja. He is our #1 shot blocker. The area where we struggled in the playoffs was the PK. Having Lilja to lay down in front of some of those shots might have made the difference. Big E was great but on the PK, I'd rather have Lilja.

    Chris Pronger

Don't EVER use those 2 word in the same sentence.

Detroit to offer Hossa long term deal

He had a bad playoff this year. The important thing is that last year he proved that he is capable of great playoffs. Will he have a great year every playoff? Probably not but he has shown what he is capable of. Datsyuk also didn't have a good playoff even before he was injured but he has shown what he is capable of. 4 mil? Hell yea, I'd take him

    Best story for next year....

The Pens barely made the playoffs this year, barely beat a mediocre Washington team and barely beat the Champs when the champs were essentially the walking wounded. I don't see them back in the finals again. They just aren't that good. 2 superstars and a mediocre goalie don't make a great team. They were fortunate this year and last year they had a Hossa that played out of his mind. I would expect Boston to come out of the East. But we will see..
