Congrats, Pittsburgh... hope next time you have to earn it!
chrisdetroit replied to djt813's topic in General
You capitalized on the injuries. Congratulations, well done but don't get too excited and act like you pummeled a healthy team. You barely beat us and our key guys were playing injured. -
Can you imagine if we had lost to the Ducks in round 2 and they then went on to win the cup? Holy crap, that would have meant 2 cups in 3 years for them. No way could I have lived through that. I am content knowing that we lost to a team that was not as good as us. We lost because of tons of injuries, a horrific schedule and a team that was hungrier than us because we kicked their asses last year. They have no depth. 2 superstars supplimented by a bunch of free agent retreads that have played on different teams every year - Guerin, Satan, Fedorenko, etc. Congratulations, they capitalized on our injuries, a favorable schedule and a bending of the instagator rules by the NHL. They won't be back next year though. Their hunger will be less, and they will have to actually play some good teams in the East. Watch out for Boston. No more waiving suspensions or playing against a team with massive injuries. And those retreads that they used to fill in will either not be back, or will hit a wall. Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Pittsburgh. Add them to the list - one and done. The Ducks are our rival, the Pens, not so much...

Holland: Defense is set, waiting for cap figure
chrisdetroit replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
If he stays, we probably dump Hudler and Sammy and 1 other which frees up 3 spots. Helm takes Hudler's spot, Jay takes Sammy's spot and Abby takes the 3rd spot or we keep kopy and Abby stays in GR. If he goes, we keep Sammy and huds and Helm takes kopy's spot. Jay and Abby go back to GR. To get Jay in the line-up we need to move somebody... -

But 8 of them were in the 5-0 blow-out idiot... -

There were 4 1-goal games if you discount the empty netters and the Pens won 3 of them. This is the best the Pens could do when were playing with our #1 and #2 D-man injured, Pavs out for 4 games and playing injured for 3. Then throw in the ridiculous schedule and the fact that Malkin's suspension got waved. Sorry, but I am bitter. I hope the Wings are bitter too and will do something about it next June. The Hockey gods did not smile down on us... -
But Sid is th CAPTAIN. He's supposed to be the leader. How many times did you see Lidstrom dive? Well....

why not grab some playoff style defensemen?
chrisdetroit replied to Kronthewall55's topic in General
Just think, we were missing our #1 shot blocker, Lilja. Now I like Big E but he's a different type of D-man. I didn't realize how much we would miss Lilja until half way through the playoffs... -

Well said -
I think that you are getting a little bit ahead of yourself there. The Pens won 1 cup and it took a monumental comback in the finals. There were 4 1-goal games (discounting the empty netters) and they won 3 of them. The Wings had injuries galore and a ridicoulous schedule shoved down their throat. The guys playing injured - #1 D-man, #2 D-man, #1 forward who missed the first 4 games entirely. Then add in the fact that your number 1 forward violated the instegator rule and should have been suspended but the league waved it. The Pens, to their credit took advantage of all these gifts but to imply that they could "win a few more" when they likely won't have these gifts is ridiculous. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the better team did not win the Cup this year...

That reinforces the point that he can score against Philly, Washington and Carolina but when he ran into Henrik Zetterberg, he was absolutely shut down. Justin Abdelkader had more goals in the finals than Crosby.
-
The Wings lost because of injuries, plain and simple. Exposed? You are smoking crack. The Wings finished the playoffs 15-8 and of those 8 loses, ignoring an empty netter, they lost 7 of them by only 1 goal and the 8th by 2 goals. Exposed? The Pens won 3 games by 1 goal (1 empty netter) and the 4th by 2 goals. I wouldn't get to excited about a bunch of 1 goal wins, especialy since the Wings beat the Pens by 2 goals, 1 goal (+ an empty netter) and a 5-0 blowout. For you to say that the Wings were "exposed" shows your ignorance. A health Wings team would have swept the Pens. The Pens won because they had an easy run through a weak Eastern Conference. It's to bad the Bruins lost their game 7 or they would have run over the Pens.

How many records does he have that doesn't have the word "youngest" in front of them? That's what I thought. He's a great talent but he's immature and he is NOT the best player in the league. Top 10 maybe but I'd take Lidstrom Ovechkin S. Neidemeir Getzlaff Zetterburg Datsyuk over him any day. He didn't win the Conn Smyth and he isn't a finalist for the Selke or Hart.
-
Win this for the 29 other teams' fans who are sick and tired of hearing about Sydney Crosby and cannot bear the site of Gary Bettman handing the cup to Syd.
-
You forgot about Big E
-
It's much to late for them to change how they play. They just have to play their game the way they always have. You can't reinvent the way you play in 1 game against a team as good as the Wings or they will make you look silly.
-
This is just mind numbing. The guy was given a get out of jail free pass and they want to give him the Conn Smyth even if the Pens lose. WTF http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_dadd...?urn=nhl,168669

When Pavel Met Evgeni--The turning point of the series
chrisdetroit replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Clearly superior? Astounding. Exactly what game was he watching. Ok you could argue that they played better in parts but "clearly superior"? Come on. We won the first 2 games by 2 goals each and allowed them to score only 1 in each game. They won the 3rd by 1 goal plus and empty netter and the 4th by 2 goals. Clearly superior? WTF -
I want to see Hossa skate around Mellon Arena with the Cup Priceless
-
going out on a limb there huh?
-
At the start of the series it was 0-0 and we had home ice but Ericcson had to take pain killers to play, Nick Sr. was playing hurt and Pav was out. Now it is 2-2, we have home ice, Pav is playing, Ericcson is recovered and Nick Sr. is probably near 100%. Both teams undoubtedly have bumps and bruises. I gotta like our chances.
-
Where did you come up with this s***? terrible hands? not improved in 4 years? lots of penalties? He's had 8 minor penalties in 20 games and 1 major that was a blown call by the officials. You should really watch more than 1 game before making these kind of statements.
-
Sheldon Souray? You have GOT to be kidding. He is the biggest defensive liability in the league. Great shot but defense - forget it. He is a carrer -33. Kronwall has NEVER had a - year. Defensemen have to actually defend to be effective. Sheldon Souray? hahahahah
-
Glass half empty huh. Give it a rest. WHEN we DO win, we will be 1 win from the cup. This one game is for the cup - plain and simple.
-
For f***s sake. The only thing I hate more than the Wings losing is all this negativity. They lost. Get over it. The series is tied and they have home ice.
-
Probably. But if neither does, we win the series. The Pens MUST win at the Joe at least once regardless of what we do. We don't have to win in Pittsburgh but I don't want a game 7 so lets just get the next 2 and finish them.
