Are you serious? Don't you think that our effort/motivation will be a little bit higher in the 3rd period of a playoff game? Have you ever watch a playoff game before.
-
Well said. I think the Wings have looked good the last few games and Ozzie has also turned it up a notch.
-
This is a stupid post. Of course nobody wants to play any of the top teams in the league, however the teams that do end up playing #1, 2 or 3 are the teams that are just fighting to get into the playoffs and they for the most part aren't going to complain about who they play. As far as the best team in hockey. The Sharks are limping to the finish. They have only scored 9 goals total in the last 5 games. Last night they won 1-0 in a shootout against the might Kings. The only goal was a shootout. They aren't playing well right now so I'm not sure that I would be too confidant if I was one of their fans. Regular season sucess means nothing. You would think that the Sharks fans would know that better than anyone.

Excuse me, but you are at the wrong thread. This is the GDT. The Osgood bashing threads are over there - threads number 1-1786. You can't miss them they are right next to the team defense bashing threads numbers 1787-3462.
-
The Wild got their asses handed to them. If it wasn't for Backstrom this game would have been a laugher. The better team won today, they have nothing to ***** about.
-
There is a HUGE difference. In the cases that you sighted, it might make a difference to your friend. You and I are just posters on an internet forum that Chris Osgood will never read. Your criticism will have zero bearing on anything. All that we are doing is bitching and complaining and that is a hell of a lot different that showing your friend "tough love". Many of the negtive comments and the gloom and doom are from people that just want to walk around and say "I told you so" if the worst comes true. I don't get it why people that claim to be fans just ***** and complain and predict the worst.
-
Thank you. Finally somebody with some numbers to back up their arguments. I am tired of posters who say things like "Osgood lets in a soft goal every game" or the "defense has been terrible all year".
-
4.7 to 1.3 -> 5 to 2
-
Wings are going to dominate this game from begining to end. Osgood has a stellar outing and Franzen scores another highlight reel goal. I'm also thinking that Hossa switches into playoff mode and finally gets a Wings Hat Trick. Final score 4-1 Wings.
-
You obviously didn't look into the possible reasons for this and just decided that you would use this point to add to your argument. You are wrong. Shots against are up across the board this year. Last year the Wings averaged 23.5 Shots against per game which was first in the league, this year it is 27.8 which ties them for 3rd and 0.1 behind the 2nd place team. NOBODY has averaged 23.5 or 24, or 25 or 26 or 27. The leader is San Jose at 27.5 which is a BIG 0.3 below Detroit's average. So your comment about the Wings giving up more shots and that is somehow the result of poor defense is just plain wrong.
-
Of course he said that. What did you expect? "We'll just turn the switch on for the playoffs. No worry"
-
Hossa is going to be a beast in the playoffs. This is why he came here - to win the cup and he knows that he may not get another chance. Everything that happened in the regular season (good and bad) is going to be irrelevant. I expect him to provide the motivation that Drake supplied last year. His play is going to spark the team to a long playoff run. Mark my words, Hossa is going to be in the running for the Conn Smyth

I want the Sharks to play the Ducks and have the Ducks physically beat the snot out of them...
-
I never would have guessed that mindfly is predicting a loss...
-
We'll see. The sharks record on the road this year is 19-12-7 I see that as their biggest weakness. Their record at the Joe is 0-2 and they were outscored 10-1 in those 2 games. It would be an awesome series though!
-
It's 2 games not 2 OR 3. The Shark are 2 points up on the Wings. If the Wings win 1 game more than the Sharks, They will finish with the same number of points. The first tie-breaker is head-to-head, but thats 2-2 The second tie breaker is the number of wins and the Wings will win that tie breaker because currently they have the same number of wins. The Wings have a very good chance because San Jose had some tough games at Clagary at Edmonton vs Aneheim at Aneheim And they have a losing record on the road.
-
Wow. No doom and gloom mindfly?
-
Hardly. A win would have put them 1 game (2 points) up on the Sharkies and the Sharkies would have had a game in hand. The Wings have 8 games left and the Sharkies have 9. And you think a 2 point lead would have cemented home ice. You're kidding right? You think the Wings are going to go 8-0 in the last 8 games?
-
Hahahaha 1 fricking shoutout in his entire career and it's "why did we ever let this kid go"... ...this one stings the worst.... hahhaha give me a frickin break.... You are telling me that this is such a big loss. A meaningless game to a non-playoff team when their best defenseman was a goalpost and you are ready to jomp off the ledge... hahahhaa
-
How bout 2002. Remember that... They sucked the last 10 games of the season then lost the 2 first games in the playoffs. Remember how that turned out? Stanley Cup. All the negaitve post about regular season games on LGW are just stupid. The Wings are within a game of the Presidents Trophy and people are bitching every time they lose a regular season game. Lighten up people. None of it counts until the playoffs start and we have the same team that won the cup last year. geeeze

You don't understand probability and statistics. A sample size of only 10 is far to small to be significant so you can't make any future predictions based on this with any reliability...
-
Ok then, why can't the Wings be an exception to the rule? When was the last time that a team finished #1 or #2 overall and was ranked in the bottom 20 in GAA. Well looky here, we have an exception to that rule also...

Contract talks between Wings and Hossa, Franzen on hold
chrisdetroit replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The title of the thread says that the talks are "on hold". That's not what the article says. It says that they are "stalled". This is a big difference. "On Hold" means that they have decided to suspend negotiations. "Stalled" means that they are at a point where they are not making any progress. But they still may be talking. -
Take away the 3 bad goals that Ozzie gave up and the Wing win. The loss had nothing to do with being physical. But don't let the facts influence your opinion...

You are ignoring his greatest strength which isn't racking up points, it is scoring goals. And as far as scoring goals he IS special. He has 30 goals in 61 games for 0.492 goals/game. How many guys in the league this year score almost 1/2 a goal per game? I count 9. This means that he is one of the top 10 goal scorers in the league this year. He is scoring at a 40 goal per season pace. He has emerged as a top ten goal scorer in the NHL
