#4 Nashville Predators vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes

We weren't great but we weren't as bad as that. Rhinne stole at least 2 of the games.

#4 Nashville Predators vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes

So all the talk about how this was Nashville's year based on getting Radalov and Kostitsyn was just bs. After watching them beat our Wings, I felt like Nashville wasn't all that great. They beat us because of great goaltending and poor play by the Wings. Now it has caught up to them. I love it. The same is happening to St. Louis. They were playing over their heads and now it has all come crashing down. Balance has been restored to the force.

Johan Franzen wants to 'have more fun'

looks like we have a new whipping boy. As happened with Hudler, I'm expecting a bounce-back season from Mule. Sure he looked un-motivated this year and did nothing in the playoffs but everybody can have a bad year. And before anybody says it, Franzen was playing hurt in last years playoffs. Go back and look at his numbers in playoffs prior to last year. I'll give the man a pass. By the way, you guys do realize that he lead the team in scoring this year don't you. But don't let that fact get in the way of the whipping....

    Will Detroit win this series?

Sure but I bet you also said that Pittsburgh and Vancouver would make it out of the first round.

#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

They now have to win 4 of the next 5 games and 3 of them are in Philly. They have to win in Philly TWICE. Boston was in the same hole last year to Montreal BUT there is a BIG difference. Carey Price stole the first 2 games. Montreal was badly outshot yet Boston lost. The Pens are plying like crap right now. I don't see them coming back from this. hahahhahahahahah And the experts all picked them tho win the Cup. hahahahahaha

#7 San Jose Sharks vs. #2 St. Louis Blues

Both teams have weaknesses: San Jose 1. Mediocre goaltending at best. 2. Mediocre offense (17th in regular season). St. Louis 1. No playoff experience 2. Poor offense (21st). I'm going with San Jose because I think that the playoff experience is a big factor.

Wings meet Preds in First Round

Fair enough. But as a fan of the Wings, why would you come on the fan website like LGW and proclaim that your team is going to lose. What is the point of that? There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism but what is the point of non-constructive criticism? Internet forums are being over-run with haters and name callers.

Wings meet Preds in First Round

Did anybody else notice that Franzen has awoken? This is an AWESOME sign for us...

Wings meet Preds in First Round

I'm all in. Wings in six. None of this whiny bs "I hope they win, but I don't know". They WILL win. And as far as the posters that come on hear to piss in our cherios - don't come back here to jump on the bandwagon later. You are either a fan of the team or not, and fans root for their team.

#6 Chicago Blackhawks vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes

Phoenix in 6. Playoff hockey is about defense and goaltending. Chicago finished 22nd in GAA and Crawford had a .902 save percentage.

    Ray Emery Contract Extension

So Chicago decides after Ray Emery finishes the year with a 0.900 save percentage that he deserves a contract extension. Are you kidding me? hahahaha And Corey Crawford (.902 save %) was given a 2 year extension a couple of weeks ago. I am not making this up. How stupid are they in Chicago?

    4/7 GDT : Blackhawks 3 at Red Wings 2

Anybody remember last year when we went into Phoenix in the first round against one of the top goalies from the regular season in Bryzgalov? We lit him up like a Christmas tree and that was with Z siting in the press box. Nashville doesn't scare me. Rinne has played 18 playoff games and has a .908 save %. The playoffs ARE different than the regular season

Dallas fails on another crucial late season game

It's worse than that for Wings fans. Last year all they had to do was beat a crappy Minny team and it would have meant no playoffs for the #$%%# Hawks. This year all they had to do was split a home and home with the Sharks and it would have likely meant no playoffs for the $%^# Sharks. And they FAILED 2 years in a row. Damn you Stars! Damn you! Screw that. I wanted to be able to point at the Sharks and laugh for not even making the playoffs.

    Potential First Round for Wings

Correct. If we beat Chicago (regulation, OT or Shootout) they finish 6th and play the 3rd seed. If we lose to Chicago, (in regulation) they finish 5th and play Nashville and we finish 6th and play the 3rd seed. The most likely scenario is that Nashville beats Colorado and we beat Chicago. We then play Nashville and Nashville has home ice. IMO this is the worst case scenario but unfortunately the most likely. For all the naysayers, the 4th and 5th seeds have changed 4 times in 2 weeks. Before we played Nashville, we were 4th. Afterwards, they were 4th. 2 days later, we were 4th, after last night, they are 4th. Lets go Avs!!!

    Potential First Round for Wings

No. San Jose does not have a great goalie. Niemi has a .915 save percentage which is 24th is the league. I would love to see the Wings bounce San Jose in the first round.

    Nashville at Chicago GDT

The BEST case for us would be to play Chicago in the first round AND have home ice. Chicago sucks defensively and their goaltenders are not good. Nashville is way better defensively AND has a great goaltender. Chicago is 22nd in the league in GAA. Here's a list of teams in the Western conference with a worse GAA - Edmonton, Columbus. That's it. Defense wins Cups and Chicago has no defense. I'm worried about Renne stealing a game but Crawford or Emery, not so much. The Wings need to finish 4th, Chicago 5th and Nashville 6th. Plus, Chicago is a short flight and nothing would be more satisfying than to bounce them from the playoffs in the first round. Based on this, Nashville needs to lose tonight.

Which team would piss you off the most if they won the cup?

Obama Oh, wait wrong forum Pittsburgh, Chicago, San Jose, and Nashville in that order. Although Nashville seems to think that they are already "Stanley Cup Champions".

The Blues are in the driver's seat

The Blues have a "2 game lead" with 13 games left to play. It's certainly possible for us to catch them. We have 6 road games left, they have 9. Our road point % is 0.471. There's is 0.516. As far as who they play versus who we play, I don't think that it matters at this time of the year. There are many teams "on the bubble" that are playing desperate. We see it every March. Any team really can beat any team this time of year. We are at a disadvantage because of the injuries. If we can win 2 of the 3 games on the coast and the Blues drop at least 1 in the same time period, we will have a chance because we will have kept the lead to 4 points or less and will have got back our two best players. If their lead makes it to 6 points, I don't think we will catch them.

    3/4 GDT : Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 1

I don't know what game you watched. The Wings outplayed the Hawks. They hit 4 cross-bars and had two misses on wide open nets. And yes, one was by Mule. Any one of these goes in and it's a different game. No puck luck today. Sometimes it happens. I'm ok with the effort.

    3/4 GDT : Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 1

Ray Emery in goal .907 save %, 2.65 GAA. hahahah

The Blues are in the driver's seat

I hate to burst your bubble, but the Blues rank 21st in the league in GFA and have zero playoff experience. We played them 3 times in 2 weeks in December and January after Hitchcock had them rolling and beat them 3-2, 3-0, and 3-1. Yes they won 5 out of six. They beat non-playoff teams Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, Nashville in a shootout and a struggling Sharks team. So who did they lose to? The only good team that they played - Vancouver. I'm not impressed.

    2/25 GDT : Avalanche 4 at Red Wings 3

So you are sticking to the opinion that the Wing's 4th line is worse than the Columbus Blue Jacket's 4th line. That just shows that your arguments are not based on logic. And as far as Franzen and his "one magical playoff in 2008"... 2008 18 points in 16 games 2009 23 points in 23 games 2010 18 points in 12 games That's a total of 59 points in 51 games. But don't let the facts get in the way of your rantings

    2/25 GDT : Avalanche 4 at Red Wings 3

It's entertaining to come on here after a loss and see some of the idiotic posts. Worst 4th line in the league? Worse than Columbus? The Islanders? The one about firing Holland and Babcock was pretty funny too. How 'bout this Wings fans - The Sharks lost their division lead last night and are now 3 points above the 8th place Stars and the Hawks are 5 points above the Stars and 24th in the league is GAA. And people on here are whining about a 3 game losing streak. hahahahah

Columbus up 4-0 on San Jose after 1

Goaltending. Niemi was average at best in Chicago and not much better in San Jose.
