LOL. I had the same thought

Wow. Just wow.

Mindfly is predicting a loss for the 150th straight game....
-
There are lots of guys that played great in the AHL that couldn't cut it in the NHL. How do you know that Leino isn't just another of those guys? You are making a hell of a big assumption...

well said

yea, great, another measuring stick for us that we have to play at a disadvantage. San Jose was a back-to back with travel in between and the 3rd game in 4 nights Montreal was the first day back from a 10 game western Canadian trip and now we get Boston in another back to back with travel in between Who made this schedule? And San Jose is only the team to beat in the regular season as in the past. I'll worry if they make it to the WCF. I think alot of people are looking at McClellan as their savior but that's a pretty tall order for a rookie head coach. He is dealing with a group that has underachieved in the playoffs 4 years in a row.. I had to look this up. 2004 Lost in WCF to Calgary 2005 lockout 2006 Lost in 2nd round to Oilers 2007 Lost in 2nd round to Wings 2008 Lost in 2nd round to Stars. Pretty amazing...

You are looking at some small sample sizes. Let's just consider goaltenders with at least 15 games. Now, it makes more sense: Thomas Bos .941 Smith TB .931 Auld Ota .928 Luongo Van .928 Backstrom Min .928 Lunquist NYR .927 Price Mon .923 None of those but Alex Auld are surprising IMO. All of them are very solid goaltenders. Boucher only played 9 games, Sabourn 8, Hiller 9, Anderson 9. And Conklin also shouldn't be considered because he has only played 8. If you are going to quote stats you have to be aware of the sample sizes.

You would? Turco has never been able to win in the playoffs. Obvioulsy Ozzie has had some great playoff runs including last year's Stanley cup. No way I'd take Turco over Ozzie.
-
The season is only 25% over. Let's see how Ozzie plays the remaining 75%. Conklinn is not going to start in the playoffs unless Ozzie is injured. Ozzie has a bit of a Stanley Cup hangover but he will be fine.

We lost to Aneheim the first of 4 games we play them on a controversial goal in OT. We will play them 3 more times. We lost to San Jose after having played the Duckies the night before and the 3rd game in 4 days. We will play them 3 more times. We lost to Pittsburgh by letting them back in the game after thoroughly dominating them for 2 1/2 periods. We play them again in December. We lost to Montreal on the night back from a 10 day western Canadian road trip. And we beat the Rangers in the only game that we play them. You are making to much of it. Wait until we play the Duckies 3 more times, the Sharks 3 more times and Pittsburgh again, then make your comparison.

This is a joke right? Crosby or Ovechkin might be worth debating but Getlaf? No way
-
A rookie head coach scare you? Really?
-
Because that's not how statistics work. If our GAA is really bad the first 10 games and really good the next ten, the overall is not great. To get back to the best in the league after 10 games on not being very good in GAA is almost impossible. Look at the last 10 games. Throw out the Pittsburgh game and we are at 2.2 GAA which is 3rd in the league. We ARE making progress.

Kopy is on the roster because he can't be sent down without clearing wavers. Helm and Leino are in GR because they need the experience and get more playing time there.
-
You obviously did not think this through. Let's do a little analysis here. Take away the 1 point for the OT/SO losses and see where we stand just based on win loss percentage: In the WC 1. San Jose .818 2. Detroit .667 3. Vancouver .636 4. Minnesota .600 5. Clagary .545 6. Aneheim .521 7. Chicago .500 Everybody else would be below .500 Now take that 0.667 winning percentage over 82 games we finish with 55 wins. Even without the points for OT/SO losses, we are kicking ass at 14-7.

stupidest post of the day.

The 3mil cap space wouldn't be enough to keep Hossa so explain please what we would do with it? How bout sign a talented you forward with a year or 2 NHL experience that is very good defensively. Like Filpulla....
-
Wow! You are predicting a Wings loss. I never would have guessed that
-
Kind of ironic because last year was a "cup year" and the only one that we lost was Dallas Drake. This statement actually contradicts your entire argument.
-
The WIngs have had 79 PPO which ranks them 25th in the league. This compares to 110 for the Rangers and 109 for the Sharks. That's a HUGE difference. I'm not suggesting a conspiracy but how can it be that the team with the 2nd best record in the league gets so few PPO's? The Refs are just not calling many penalties against our opponents.
-
wait. The ducks have 15 free agents this summer. He can't leave now.....
-
Not even close. The most likely scenario is that we lose Hossa, Cheli, Conklin. We might also lose Sammy or Hudler. None of these guys are our key players. We have Leino, Helm, Ericsson and Howard who are ready to step up. Our "key" players are all in the prime of their careers. We will take a hit after 2009-2010 if Lidstrom retires but we will survive and we certainly are stocked on defense.

Did the Wings screw this up or is it too early to tell?
chrisdetroit replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
wow. talk about exaggerations. The Wings are currently ranked #20 in the league in GAA. That's not great but being in the middle of the league is alot different than being worst. And Lidstrom, well he has 14 points and is +3 with 4 PIM which isn't superior but it certainly doesn't look to me like he's playing injured.
