Hahaha. No they aren't. They beat the Rangers with the Rangers playing their second string goalie who couldn't stop a beach ball. They followed that up with a win against the doormat of the league (Columbus) and on Sunday they beat the Blues 2-1 at home. The winning goal went in off of a St. Louis players skate. St. Louis currently has an 8 point lead on Chicago and a game in hand. No way Chicago catches them.
-
I guess nobody told you that NBC.com was streaming the game - free.
-
They don't have a natural goalie either. LOL
-
Wow. No whinny LGW posters crying about how the Sharks are "bigger, stronger and faster". Excellent. 4-2 Wings
-
I hate it when people come on here and predict a loss. What the hell is the point of that? They are always so wishy-washy too. "The streak could end tonight...Hopefully we can grind out a win". What is that? I'm all in. The Wings WILL win. I feel much better now.

Banner Hanging in Bridgestone Arena (Predators)

The World would be a much better place if we could just get rid of all Mission Statements. There is too much of this doublespeak... -
Not me. I started gloating weeks ago. They have zero chance of recovering with the goaltending that they have. I want them to miss the playoffs entirely. 27th in the league in GAA. Baahaaaaaaaa
-
The Blues are 22nd in the league in scoring. Getting 2 guys back isn't going to change that. They also have a lack of playoff experience. Sorry, but your Blues are not in the conversation. The Preds are #12 in GFA and #12 in GAA, #2 in PP and #17 in PK. Those are not the stats of a Stanley Cup Team.
-
Rick Nash makes $7.8M/year for the next 6 years and has basically no playoff experience. I like the guy and all but with that contract AND the fact that we would have to send some good players to Columbus in return - no thanks. He's not worth that much.
-
What a lousy piece of writing. He basically took one fact - that Nash is agreeable to a trade and repeated it in different words 8 times.
-
Sorry but I stopped reading after the first sentence. There is pessimism then there is LGW pessimism...
-
ah, but LGW posters are very fickle. Many didn't want to give Hudler another shot but alas, those posters are nowhere to be found.
-
There's one more important stat that everyone is overlooking. Perry make $5.3M a year. Mule make $3.95M a year. That's $1.3 M a year that we can spend on another guy. So really you have to compare Perry to Franzen + Darren Helm or Miller or Abby. Not so even now is it?
-
Well said. No way Kenny will go after Nash with his 7.8M cap hit so it's moot point. And Kenny will not trade our best prospects..
-
The fact that he makes over $7.8M/year and that there are 7 more years on his contract is a HUGE issue. I like Nash and think that he'd be a great fit but not for that kind of money.

Exactly. People forget that Howard went through the same thing when he was Osgood's back-up a few years ago. With goalies, it takes a few consecutive games to get into a groove. Conklin is no Jimmy Howard but I expect once he gets a few games under his belt he will be fine. When Conklin was with us 2 years ago, he saw enough action to keep him fresh. Damn, I wish Holland had listened to you. Did you at least try to call him and let him know that he was making a mistake?
-
The guy won the frickin Conn Smyth 3 years ago. Don't you remeber when he completely shut down Crosby in the finals 2 years in a row. And you want to trade him after 1 bad year. No frickin way
-
Sure they fought but relative to the rest of the league, very little and still won Cups. They are currently first overall in points in the entire league. I want to see them win more than see them fight or play "tough". They looked pretty tough in those 3 straight wins against a much bigger and tougher St. Louis team who they outscored by a combined margin of 9-3.
-
Well of course they fought more times in the playoffs. They played more games Duh! You can't compare teams that played fewer games with teams that played more games and get a valid statistical comparison. That's like comparing the number or murders in New York with the number in Ishpeming. Because there are a lot of LGW members that yearn for the old days when there was more fighting in hockey. That game is gone and many people on here don't want to accept that.

From the same article. According to HockeyFights.com, which tracks these things: In the 1996-97 regular season, leading to the Wings' first Cup in 42 years, the Wings fought 55 times and were 23rd out of 26 teams in the NHL. The Bruins and Islanders led with 90 fights. The Red Wings fought seven times in the playoffs, more than any other team. In the 1997-98 regular season, the Wings fought 33 times and were 25th out of the 26 teams. The Canucks led with 105 fights. The Red Wings did not fight in the playoffs. In the 2001-02 regular season, with a roster laden with future members of the Hockey Hall of Fame and other stars, they fought 21 times, the least of any of the 30 teams. The Panthers led the league with 117. Again, the Wings did not fight in the playoffs. In 2007-08, the Red Wings again fought 21 times, the least of any of the 30 teams. The Flames led the NHL with 70. The Wings fought once in the playoffs So we won those 4 cups even though we didn't fight. Wow. The LGW fight slappies are not going to like that....
-
I hate to disappoint you but Bertuzzi and Homer will most likely be back next year. The Wings love both of them and they love playing for the Wings. Both have been as effective as the Wings expected and neither has significant injuries. Homer is a little banged up but he is the kind of guy that will play through it.
-
Exactly. The farce went to new heights when they put Crosby on the ballot when he had not even played a game.
-
Don't let the facts get in the way of your opinions. You are seriously arguing about the definition of a game winning goal to make a point? Really? Mule is a clutch playoff performer, Period. He's not going anywhere. Defenseman is hard position to learn. There aren't many guys that are good at in right away. Big E is improving but he's not there yet. I expect that Smith will take some time also,

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?
chrisdetroit replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Ok, I don't get it. Franzen is one of the top playoff performers in the league the past 3-4 years. He is currently leading the entire league in Game winning Goals, he's on pace for 67 points and 31 goals and is +25. His point totals have increased the last 4 years (except the year when he had knee surgery)) 30, 38, 59, 55, 67. He has played over 70 games in 4 of the last 5 years. He's only 32. So why do we want to trade him? Somebody explain this to me. -
Yea but...who cares. The B.J.'s will finally get a sell out.
