Schneider still has him beat at -10...
-
The most penalized team in the league against the team with the 2nd best power play. I'm going with the Wings 4-2
-
No understanding of statistics and probability. It's a reflection of the dumbing down that has been going on in our school system for years.... This is the same reasoning that people use when gambling. After losing many times, they think that they are "due" to win when in fact the odds are the same each time whether you lose 100 in a row or win 100 in a row.... But I digress

Worst in the entire league? Out of almost 700 players. Now that's just stupid. His +/- isn't even the worst. That honor goes to would you believe - Matthieu Schneider Lebda is -7 Shneids is -8. But he said worst player, not just worst D Man How bout a Goaltender who played 9 games with the Worst GAA (4.26) and the 2nd worst Sv% (.842). Now that guy would be the worst player in the league. Say hello to Marty "head case" Turco heheheheh

I know it's early but it does my heart good to see the goons have started out just where they left off last year; 2 wins 5 losses -last night they were outshot 28-4 in the 2nd and 3rd periods and blew a 2-goal lead before winning a shoot out to Toronto #27th in GFA #1 in PIM #20 in GAA #30 in PP% (1 out of 25 4%) And this is their last year to have any chance of competing before they have to try and resign 15 free agents.

He works for the Obama campaign...

Lebda?

It's all relative. It isn't that bad, we are just spoiled. Right now the Wingsa are 15th in GAA. Just be glad that you aren't a Philly or a Dallas fan. Both teams are supposed to be good and right now they are 29th and 30th in GAA.

For all intents and purposes, it was a 4-2 game. The last goal looked like something from a pinball machine. Off of a St. Louis player, off of Rafalski and into the net. We played a very good game. A couple of mistakes cost us goals but the Wings last night looked like the Wings from last year. Also the chemistry between Dats and Hossa is really starting to show. I saw lots of positive things last night. Most hockey games are 1 goal games so I'm not worried about that. We will get a few blow-outs but they will be the exception not the rule.

Oh for F$%# sake. Here we go again go again go again go again go again
-
You did what???
-
Really? Not from what I've seen. Hossa and Dats are starting to click. I originally thought that splitting Z and Pavs was a bad idea but now I see that Pav and Hossa are clicking. As far as Z being rusty. Well, obviously that isn't the case. Glad to see that you were wrong on both counts....

We should trade for Parros. Get 'er done Kenny!
-
Wow! That's 6 career goals in 165 games for a mind bogling 0.036 goals/game! He's now scored 2 goals in 7 games which puts him on pace for 27 goals for the year. I never thought of George Parros as a 27 goal scorer but statictics don't lie.

You misquoted them. The question posed to the GM's was if you could pick 1 player to build your team around who would it be. The article is here: TSN Poll That's a much differnt question. If they had a crappy team and they could pick 1 player, they chose Crosby. If they already had a great team like the Wings, the choice might be different (it would be for me) but they weren't asked that question. Lastly, without Hossa, the Penguins are swept in the SCF if they even get that far. Crosby is great but he's not that great.
-
Then why didn't those same experts give Crosby the Selke that they gave to Pavel? Or why didn't he get the Conn Smyth that Hank got? They were voted on by the "hockey experts" Actually, I watched the NHL awards show in June and Crosby didn't take home any hardware and all of the hardware was voted on by the hockey "experts" It seems like you are the one that is biased toward Crosby. An your "95%" quote is wrong. It's fine to express an opinion but you shouldn't be making stuff up to validate it.
-
Pavs won the Selke last year for best defensive forward in the entire league. Sidney wasn't even a finalist. Not my opinion but the opinion of a lot of sports writers that know alot more about the NHL than me or you. So based on last year, Pavs was better. This year and next year - who knows, one could get better than the other. Hank won the Conn Smythe as the MVP of the playoffs. That would be the same playoffs that Sydney played in. Again, not just my opinion. Based on last year, Hank was better in the playoffs than Sydney. So if you want to make this trade, it means that you think that Sydney will get better than one of these guys, depending on which you want to trade. That my friend, is pure speculation. Right now, according to alot of people that votes on awards, either Hank or Pavs is better than Sydney. I'll stick with the Euro twins rather than trade on the hope that Sydney will one day be better than them. As far as age, both Hank and Pavs have at least 5 more years before age starts to creep in and alot can happen in 5 years.
-
BOTH of them? Hell no. One or the other might be worth debating - I wouldn't do it but some people might but BOTH? You're kidding right?
-
You mean like last year when they were bounced in the first round?
-
It is beyond dumb. The entire thing is written on the premise that the Wings are not in first in the standings (1 point behind) and this is after 5 games. Not only that all of the teams that the blues have played have records of .500 or less (points eaned/point available) Nashville .500 Toronto .416 Dallas .416 Chicago .500 Islanders .400 I hate it when people try to make an argument that has no basis in fact. This is equivalent to saying that Homer is on pace to score 82 goals while Hossa is only on pace to score 16.4 goals and therefore Homer will win the Rocket Richard trophy while Hossa will be a wash out. You have to actually use common sense when making arguments.
-
Franzen isn't going anywhere. Hossa will be the odd man out next year.
-
Ok let's think about what you said. Last year they AVERAGED 23.5 shots against/game. Averaged means that you take all 82 games and well, average them. That include games against crappy teams like the Kings, Avs, etc. You would expect for them to not give up many shots against the crappy teams. Last night they played the team with the best record in the NHL. Wouldn't you expect for them to give up more shots? To compare a game against the Rangers to last seasons average...Well it's not a meaningful comparison.
-
I don't agree. Hossa is more of a power forward, Dats is all finesse. I think Hossa is more like Hank. That said, I'd put ZDH on the first line and Hossa with Flip and Mule on the 2nd line. But I'll defer to Babs who know a lot more about it than us.
-
Ok wait. I am not the world's biggest Hossa fan but from what I have seen the first 4 games, he is definitely competing. He has been one of the better players on the ice. He looks a little out of place but that's to be expected. To say that he isn't competing... Are you watching the same games that i am?

Wings are 2-1-1 not 2-2-0. The loss Thursday was in overtime.
