    Sundin Headed to Free Agency

You must not have been paying attention. Burke will get Parry and Selanne to retire until February thus their salaries won't count. The in February they will change their minds and only the last 2 months of the salary will count against the cup. That's why he's the best GM. It worked last year except for that little losing in the first round issue.....

    Stuart has possible shoulder injury

Yea, right, Ericcson is going to go from playing 5 NHL games to the #4 D-man on the Red Wings. You aren't serious are you? Just becuase he is big and played well in 5 games, don't give him the Norris yet.

    Roberts won't re-sign with Pittsburgh

Last one out please turn off the lights. Another 1 year wonder to go with Tampa, Carolina, Aneheim and Buffalo. Good teams - for 1 year Roberts is injury prone - no thanks....

    Wings Roster for next season

Wow, that is probably the most unrealistic thing that I ever heard. I get it that everybody love Ericsson because he is big, but nobody goes from the AHL to playing 25 minutes a night on the best team in the league. You need to temper your enthusiasm with a little dose of reality.

    SI Article: Wings Drafting...

The implication is that it is ALL luck and it clearly isn't. If it was then it would be somewhat evenly distributed among the 30 teams. Many teams would have low picks that turned into great players. Evidently this guy was sleeping through Proability and Statistics 101. The Wings have superior scouts especially on the other side of the Atlantic. Sometimes (not always) these scouts see something in players that other team's scouts don't. And once are on board, we have a system to develop them. Our first round picks don't see NHL ice for 3-4 years. This allows them to develop. And we have leadership guys to mentor them. Yes, some of it's luck and sometimes it doesn't work out but there is much more to it than that. This is horrible news to the other 29 teams and obviously this guy is a Ducks fan (Brian Burke best GM?).

Marian Hossa will test free agent market

I think that people are jumping the gun on how great he is. Until this year he has been a playoff flop. He's been in the NHL playoffs 8 years and his point totals are starting in 1999 2, 0, 2, 10, 16, 4, 1, 26. Not exactly specacular. This is the only year that he had more than a point per game. The previous 2 playoffs he was a no-show. Granted he played great this year in the playoffs but the no shows in the previous 2 would make me think twice before giving him 8 Mil per year.

    We don't need him

Marian Hossa will test free agent market

Not gonna happen. We will pay Z and Franzen and will try to keep Stuart and Lilja. If we lose Stuart, Kenny will shop around for a guy like Stuart. Then we will pick up a replacement for Drake at about $1M a year. Done.

    2008 NHL Entry Draft GDT

Holy s***! we picked a guy that's 6'-4". We should sit Z down and play this guy! He's BIG. he's tough! The LGW website is gonna crash from all the people that want to talk about him.... Can he fight too?

    Preds sign Ellis, 2yrs, 3.5m

Only if they get to play Colorado. Look at the other teams in the playoffs this year. It would be unlikely that they could have beat: Detroit San Jose Dallas Anaheim Calgary but maybe Colorado Minnesota They have a ways to go before they could be considered one of the better Western Teams

    Preds sign Ellis, 2yrs, 3.5m

Agreed. It is not uncommon for a goalie to have a great year or a great 1/2 year and then disappear. Chris Mason is a perfect example. He had and outstanding 1/2 year when Voukun went down. To the point that the Preds traded away Voukun thinking tht Mason was their guy. Guys to watch to see if they are for real - Ellis, LeClaire, Fleury. 1 great year does not a goalie make....

    Olli Jokinen to Phoenix

Juri had 14 points in 22 games in the playoffs including 2 GWG - 4th among our forwards behind Z, Pavs and Mule. And people still want to trade him?

    Olli Jokinen to Phoenix

uh...did you watch the Colorado series this year?

    SI: Best GM of 2007-08?

Really? He is good. Based on the moves that he made in the last year he is terrible. Bertuzzi Penner MacDonald for Weight Give away Bryz let your #1 D Man get away with not playing with the team for 3/4 of the year 1st round exit What did he do that qualifies him as good? Sure he beat the salary cap by sitting Nieds but that ended up costing him He ranks down their with the Pittsburgh GM that gave away 4 prospects for a rental that he can't afford to keep

    Curtis Joseph

Ok I gotta add my 2 cents. Ozzie will be our starting goalie this year and Howard will be our back-up. If Howard falters, we will look for a replacement before the deadline. Any speculation concerning Joseph or Ryan Miller is silly. Joseph is washed up and Miller would cost big $$$. Ozzie just won the cup and finished with nearly the top save % in the playoffs. He has proven that he is capable and as a bonus he is cheap. We have a young prospect who is out of minor league options. This really is a no-brainer. There is no goalie controversy unless something unforseen happens so everybody needs to think of other things to debate. The free agent feeding frenzy is coming up. The bitching should start soon. We need Hossa, Fedorov, Forsburg.... Kenny needs to add toughness.... Secondary scoring sucks.... you know, the ususal crap....

Direction the Wings should take in the Draft.

Hudler finished as the 4th highest points scorer in the playoffs on the Stanley Cup Champion. The three forwards ahead of him were the Conn Smyth winner, the Sleke winner and the guy that set a record by scoring 9 goals in a 4 game series. So tell me again about how s***ty Hudler is.......

Direction the Wings should take in the Draft.

The whole game is about entertainment. If you are entertained by watching fights, more power to you but I prefer the entertainment of winning. Are they mutually exculsive? Yes they are in today's game. That's why you don't see many fights in the finals. The guys are more interested is winning. Would we have won if we had more fighters. Probably not because the fighters would be taking the place of the skilled guys who were busy scoring goals. Unless you have a guy that can score AND fight and there are only a handful of them in the league. Iginla comes to mind.

Direction the Wings should take in the Draft.

Oh for f***s sake. Here we go again with that garbage. We just won the cup without the "big strong Canadians who can fight" and you are still harping on that. Move on man, the game has changed.
  23. chrisdetroit

Direction the Wings should take in the Draft.

Godd strategy. How'd that work out for him this year..... Maybe he should trade Penner for Bertuzzi, Macdonald for Weight, give away his back-up goalie and let his number 1 forward and number 1 D-man sit out 3 quarters of the season. Now that's a recipe for sucess.....

    Wings jacked up Cup

I hope that douchebag Pronger's name was on the band that fell off. It's a disgrace to the cup to have it on ther to begin with.

    NHL's top 10 forwards

Exactly. If we are talking about the best players, we have to consider all aspects of their games and Z is far superior defensively than Crosby. Granted that Crosby is very talented and that his game is still improving, but in 2008 Sidney is not the best forward in the league. Even if he is Canadian
