I'm with you.

I'm not sure that that means anything. Homer finished the season with a 14.6% but you won't find anybody that thinks Homer is better than Sidney. Homer's high percentage is a reflection of where most of his shots come from - in front of the net where the percentages are higher. Lidstrom's is 5.6% because his shots are coming from the point. Filpulla's is 15.6%. Anybody think that Flip is better than Crosby? No but Flip chooses his shots. My point is that this is a meaningless stat. By the way, lowest of the forwards on the Wings? Sammy of course. 4.4% but if you every watched Sammy play you would already know this. So Brad Boyles chooses his shots better. But then again so does Filpulla.

I pretty much agree with the list but it all depends on criteria. Obviously Crosby is not as good defensively as either Z or Datsyuk but is probably more of an impact player offenively. Given the choice who would you rather have? I'd take Z over Crosby because as we have seen once again, Defense wins cups. Crosby may be better offensively but that defense thing is just as important and I don't think that you will find anybody that thinks that Crosby is better than Z or Pavs defensively.

OK I'll be the one to say it. His wife is beautiful.

No, absolutely not. This isn't baseball. Home ice should go to the President's trophy winner. Period. We don't want to see players hitting during the all star game and potentially causing injuries. I would like to see the stupid shoot out go away in the regular season and instead have 10 minutes of ot. And a loss would be zero points. A loss is a loss. Right now it looks like teams are playing for shootouts in the OT.
-
Exactly. Game 5 is ususally the swing game and the team with the home ice advantage should have game 5 in their building.

You are not serious are you? Sydor? He couldn't even crack the Pens Defensive Line-up. Your logic is that he is a "multiple cup winner"? That means nothing. There are lots of washed up "multiple cup winners" out there.

Those 2 statements say alot.

Re-sign not resign.

The Pens are in very good shape offensively with Malkin Crosby and Staal. Granted that Malkin had a good 3 rounds in the playoffs and a poor showing in the final, but he's young and this was his first time. The kid has awesome talent. Remeber that Datsyuk wasn't great in his first couple of playoffs. I say let the rental player walk but keep the core of young guys. Now use the 7 or 8 million to pick up some decent D men. It is obvious that the Pens are stacked offensively but they need 3 things: 1. Better D Men especially ones that can handle the puck 2. More experience 3. A new head coach They should let Hossa walk and put their money to #1 and to keeping Malkin around. #2 just takes time and #3 well...

Mind-numbing. All of these great moves he made....well they blew up in his face. The Duckies finished 28th in the league in scoring and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Great moves.....I hope he keeps making more of them cause the Duckies are now on the heap of 1 year wonders along with Carolina and Tampa Bay. $4 Mil for Betruzzi....Hahahahahahahaha

They are already screwed. Their team is built around a handful of high priced superstars. You can't win the cup based on that strategy with the salary cap. You need a large supporting cast of lower priced talented guys. To get these guys you need to draft them and bring them up through the ranks. Pittsburgh screwed up when they traded 4 very good prospects for 1 superstar who now wants 7+ Mil to stick around. They were screwed when they made that deal at the trade deadline. Now those 4 guys are gone and the Superstar wants his paycheck.
-
I meant that they would not get stronger by adding personnel because of the salary cap issue. And in fact they are definitely going to lose some of their guys. Sure you could argue that their young players (whichever ones are left) will improve but you could argue the same thing about any team. Will Crosby and Fleury improve - maybe but you could also argue that the Wings will improve as Filpulla, Hudler and Helm improve. Their is also a chance that some of these guys WON'T improve. It's a crap shoot. Fleury could turn into the next Jose Theodore. My point is that we just don't know. Based on the fact that they ARE going to lose some of their team and that they don't have the salary cap room to add significant talent and the fact that they got their asses kicked in the finals this year it's unlikely that they will win the Cup next year. Then there is the fact that their coaching is at best average, I'm not to worried about the Pens. Dallas and San Jose maybe, but the Pens, no.
-
If they keep every single one of their current players they will in fact be a contender for the Eastern Conference crown. This years finals though showed that they are not contenders for the Cup and will not be until they add some great all around players, especially on defense. They got their asses handed to them by Detroit (Only 10 goals in 6 games). If they somehow miraculously stand pat, they will not win a cup. Unfortunately for them, the BEST that they can do is keep SOME of their superstars but not all. Detroit isn't going to get weaker (maybe we will lose Staurt) and Pittsburgh has almost no chance to get stronger. If you repeat the same thing, you will get the same results.

This is stupid. You can't compare D-men with forwards and Goalies. There needs to be a separate list for each. Crosby is certainly one of the best forwards while Lids is the best D-man but it makes no sense to debate if Crosby is better than Lids or vice versa. They play different positions. IMO though I'd take Z over Crosby. It was great that we got to see them play against each other in the SCF. Z clearly outplayed Crosby. I don't know how anybody can argue that Crosby is better after watching those 5 on 3's. Of course Crosby is Canadian so he must be better.............
-
It doesn't matter. Even if they were able to keep everybody (which they can't), they are no match for the Wings. They scored 10 goals against us in 6 games which is only 1.67 goals/game. We shut them down. They will lose at least a few of their top players and will be worse next year than this year. I wouldn't expect to see them in the finals next year and even if they are, it won't matter. Their team is built on a handful of superstars and a bunch of free agents. They gave away alot of their young talented guys to get Hossa. Not exactly a good strategy. Oh, and their coaching is below average. The top teams next year will probaly be; The Wings San Jose Aneheim (if they can sign somebody that can score) Dallas Montreal ? Ottawa?
-
I'm with you. Unfortuantely we haven't even hit the really tough part. There is a week or 2 between the SCF and the Free Agent feeding frenzy that starts July 1. Then their is NOTHING between Mid July when the Free Agent talk is dying down and the 08-09 schedule comes out late August to early September.

Question: Will the Wings sign a big name free agent?

1. We can't afford expensive. We have to sign Z and Mule to big long term contracts 2. Motivated to win - have you watched him lately 3. He's Russian not Sweedish. I don't see a connection 4. He's too old 5. He's washed up Is that enough? -
You are going to take a guy directly from the AHL with 3 games of NHL experience and make him the #4 D-man on the best team in the league?! You my friend are on drugs.
-
Here we go again. Everybody loves Ericsson because he's big. But he isn't ready. Patience....
-
NO! We don't need him and his number is not going to be retired. And why do you want only 5-6 cups in 10-15 years? 10-15 cups in 10-15 years is my goal.

LOL. Detrimental? I think that you mean Instrumental. Detrimental is just the opposite. det·ri·men·tal Audio Help /ˌdɛtrəˈmɛntl/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[de-truh-men-tl] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –adjective 1. causing detriment; damaging; harmful.

What the hell are you basing that on? I haven't seen anything that indicates that he wants to leave.
