    Is this the year?

Christ, here we go with this crap again. We just won the friggin cup with a mostly European team but we need more physical North Americans! We don't want any more of those soft Europeans like Zetterburg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Frazen. Just pick a phyisical North American. Sometimes I wonder why I read these forums

    The Pens next year

Pittsburgh is not going to contend next year at least not in the Finals. As good as they were in the east, they were clearly no match for the Wings. They won 2 1-goal games against us and 1 of those were in triple OT. This series really wasn't as close as the final 4-2 count. Even if they somehow manage to keep most of their guys, I am not the lease bit worried about the Pens. Depending what happens in July, the best teams in the league will all once again come from the West. San Jose, Detroit, Dallas. Maybe San Jose will finally get it done since they dumped the perennial playoff loser in Ron Wilson. Aneheim might be good if they can find somebody that can actually score goals and Neids and Selanne decides to play. Dallas could have a shot with a few more key guys. In the east - well it really doesn't matter.
  3. It's 50% of the regualr season games which is equal to 41

    Penguins

The "one year wonder" Ducks?... I don't know about that but the Sharkies and Stars maybe. The difference is that these Western powerhouses are DEFENSIVE teams as are the Wings. Are you listening Pens. DEFENSE wins cups. I think that it was Scotty that said this and once again he is proven correct. We are winning because of our Defense first and foremost.

Yea, just like they said after game 1............

    Penguins

They were never really that good. They blew through 3 weak eastern teams and only lost 2 games in the process. Lot of people were not watching what was happening in the West and thought that the Pens 12-2 record meant they were better than our 12-4 record. That and the league hyped the heck out of the matchup to get the tv ratings. The 5 day break helped the case. Unfortunately the casual hockey observers were duped. They were expecting a battle for the ages and what they have seen so far has been a blow-out of the ages. I can here the tv's shutting off right now. I'm sure many Pens fans also weren't watching what was happening out West and they got the shock of their lives. Moral of the story is, don't believe everything that you hear or read. Lastly, the two best teams aren't playing. The Wings should be in the East then we could see Dallas-Detroit or San Jose-Detroit in the finals. Now that would be awesome.

    Ken Holland Was SMART!

That is a really stupid argument. Your argument then is IF it had not worked out you would have been right. But you admit that it DID work out. What the F kind of logic is that?

    Ken Holland Was SMART!

Well said. Some people will just never admit when they are wrong. Kenny has constructed a team that is about to win the cup and more importantly, he is going to be able to keep the team together next year to make another run at it. Compare this to the Pens who traded away their future for Hossa who they cannot resign because of the cap. And they are not going to win the cup. How can people not admit that they were wrong when it is so damn obvious?

    Dats & Z > Sid & Malkin

I read on TSN that teams that won the first 2 home games in the SCF won the series 30 out of 31 times. So even not taking in to account the dominating performances that we had in games 1 and 2, there is historically a 96.875% chance that we will win the series. It's over. The only question is when the Wings will skate with the cup and whether or not it will be at the Joe or in Pittsburgh.

Mule Unleashed: Franzen a GO for Game 2

From TSN: Franzen said after going all out in practice Sunday that he believes he'll be fit to return for Game 2 on Monday night, but he light-heartedly suggested coach Mike Babcock might not be able to find room for him. He'll consult with team medical experts after the morning skate Monday. He could be cleared to play if he doesn't have a headache, and he says he hasn't had one in more than a week. "It's going to take maybe one more practice to get the legs going like they were before," he said. "If I get into Game 2, I'll start getting the timing back." Link

    Pronger's thought on the Series

Sorry, dirty, classless cheap shot artists need not apply.
  12. chrisdetroit

    lol @ Therrien's press conference.

I got that impression also. He is a beaten man. He has no idea how to beat the Wings and he all but admitted that. It would have been nice to show a little class though. Whining that the Wings obstruct and Osgood is diving is pretty lame. You can tell alot about a coach by how he handles getting thoroughly beaten. And what we are finding about Therien is not good. Just think, people where mentioning his name for the Jack Adams award....

    Pronger's thought on the Series

Who the frick cares what this ahole thinks. Maybe now he can tell us about physics and how his hit on Holstrom was all because of him being taller. How's his golf swing coming this year...

    Ken Holland Was SMART!

Mathematically your are right it isn't over. But in every other aspect it is. The Pens now have to beat us 4 out of the next 5 times and they haven't even been able to score a goal in 120 minutes. It's over. The only question is how many more games we will play and how long will it take them to score a goal.

    Ken Holland Was SMART!

Yea just imagine, no Filpulla, no Howard, no Helm. All for a rental. How's Hossa doing against Detroit...

SCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 0

That's how 20 year olds who never have been to the big dance behave. I think that their confidence is shaken but probably not completely shattered. I'm sure that they are telling themselves that they just had a bad game but they also realize that this is going to be much harder than they thought. Confidence and experience are HUGE in the game of hockey and right now we have lots of both and they lost some of the confidence on Saturday. Coming out of Saturday our confidence went up and theirs took a big hit. And no, I still don't think that they can hang with us. The one thing that they may have had an advantage over us was their scoring from multiple lines. We proved that we can completly shut that down and on top of that added the league leader in scoring to our second line.

SCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 0

Possibly. Inexperience again on their part. We will see. There's 6 games left and we only have to win half of them.

SCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 0

Therien has aleady made a huge mistake in playing Laroque over Roberts. Laroque is only good for fighting. He's big but slow. Roberts is a huge leadership guy. Kinda like JR. Why in the hell would he put in Laroque? He was expecting a fight in the SCF? And now after 1 game he is changing all of his lines? And why were the Pens so obviously unprepared for the Wings? Didn't he watch any game films? I'm with you, poor coaching.

SCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 0

The Pens CAN'T hang with us. We saw that in game 1. 7 shots in 40 minutes with the offense they have?!! The best that they can hope for is to get some lucky bounces and maybe win a game or 2. Another gift of a called back goal would also help them. But they are not going to beat us 4 of the next 6 tries. I think that psychologically, there is a little voice in the back of their heads telling them that they are screwed. Throw Frazen back in tonight and they really have got to be worried. If we crush them again tonight, the series is over. We have them down big time. Tonight we just need to finish the job.

    Good Start Wings

I think the confidence of the entire team is shaken including the coach. Watch the after game reaction from Therien. He's a little shell shocked. They had a total of 7 shots the last 2 periods. They were counting on: 1. Shutting down our top line. Z had a goal and 8 shots. Dats had 5 shots. 2. Being able to get scoring from their big guns. Crosby had only 3 SOG, Hossa 4, Malkin had 1 3. Shutting down our secondary scoring. Sammy had 2 goals and Cleary had 1. 4. Fleury outpalying Ozzie. Fleury gave up 4 goals (5 really) and at least 2 were softies. Ozzie had a shutout 5. Big power play goals. They were 0-5 with a shortie to boot. A young team whose confidence is shaken doesn't bode well for the Pens. And to make things worse, there is a chance we will get Fanzen back for game 2. Yes, the Pens are in trouble. I think they realize that they aren't playing the Flyers.

O'Hallaran - Default call is 'interference'?

So all of the analyists on TSN are Red Wings Homers? Because you have more hockey experience and knowledge than them? Could it be that you are a Pens homer? 4-0 fact

SCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Penguins 0

After tonight's game the Pens will realize that they can't beat us. Their spirits will be broken.

    Maggie picks the Pens

Wait a minute, you are quoting the opinions of the Sweedes. Come on man, of course they are going to pick the Wings. That said, Wings in 5

    Maggie picks the Pens

I wouldn't sweat it Maggie is only 8-6 so far. Even a monkey could... wait a minute... In all seriousness though, most of the talking heads are Canadian. Sydney is an absolute god in Canada and there is no way that most of the talking heads are going to pick against him. Combine that with the fact that Lids is going to be the first European Captain to win the cup and well you can image that there are going to be some pissed off Canadians next week. WIngs in 5 and Don Cherry has an anuerism and his head explodes on national tv.

I've read some dumb threads but this is one....never mind.
