    The Ducks are in serious trouble. Sunday, Jan 20 @Stars L 2-5 Game Trax | Box Score Wednesday, Jan 23 Red Wings L 1-2 Game Trax | Box Score Thursday, Jan 24 @Kings L 1-3 Game Trax | Box Score Wednesday, Jan 30 @Wild L 1-5 Game Trax | Box Score Friday, Feb 1 @Blues OTL 0-1 Game Trax | Box Score Saturday, Feb 2 @Flyers L 0-3 Game Trax | Box Score Not only have they lost 6 in a row, they were only able to score 5 goals in those 6 games. This wouldn't be a problem if they had a lock on a playoff spot but they are currently only 2 points above #8 and the #9 and #10 teams have 3 and 4 games in hand. They are now #30 in GAA. Worst in the entire league. 1 guy (Selanne) is going to save them? I don't think so Isn't that a shame? Hehehe

    So according to this site, the odds of the Ducks making the playoffs is 51.6%. Flip a coin. Tell that to all those Duck supporters. I'm sure that they will have reasons as to why this is wrong.

    You're on drugs. Last years Duckies were one of the elite teams in the league. This year they are just another mediocre team fighting to make the playoffs. Terrifying? Seriously? They have given up more goals than they scored. Defense? #18 in the league. And ankle surgery Foppa is gonna help them? You mean if he finds a skate that won't agravate either of his surgically repaired ankles. Now you are going to tell me that that doesn't matter and they will get better when Nieds returns. Well they are 1-6 in their last 7 games. Maybe when Selanne returns. Or wait, maybe when they get Foppa, or maybe when....

    Is Blake still an option w/ broken ankle?

    Huh? Lilja is the top shot blocker on the team. Noody else is close. That's why he's one of our top pk'ers. The only D-man that was out was Schneider whom we replaced with Rafalski (a definite upgrade). And Kronvall was out before the playoffs started but will be healthy this year. Blake over Lilja? I would consider it but Lilja is a $1M a year player and Blake is at leaset $3M. You aren't going to get Blake cheaply. Would you take Blake and give up Lilja, Hudler and some picks because that is what it would cost. I'll pass.

    There's a huge difference. We could lose all 5 and still win the President's Trophy. We are not fighting to make the playoffs, the Duckies are. But then if we lost all 5 that would drop our record to 40-15-4. In fact we could just bring up all the GRG guys and let our top guys rest.

    It just is mind bending that no mater how much they are sucking, that people on here still think that they will come back strong. They could have the worst record in the league and people will still say that they will be playing us in the WCF. Come on people, look at the facts! How can you dismiss the fact that they can't score any goals? LAST of 30 teams. Or the fact that they just dropped 6 in a row and sucked doing it? Or that Giggy is playing like crap and they traded away their lost Bryz. Or that Selanne is comming back but his line-mate frome last year McDonald is gone? Or that they lost Penner? How many teams make the playoffs when they give up more goals than they score? Theirs only 25 games left. They are not going to play the last 25 like champs when they played the first 57 like a non-playoff team. Wake up. This is not a good hockey team. Why is everybody so in awe of these goons?

No to Colorado, they are missing Smyth and Sakic. No to Aneheim, they are back to playing like crap - 4 straight losses during which they scored only 4 goals, Nashville and Columbus have been up and down all year, no consistancy.

    They KNEW how to win in the playoffs. Past Tense. Neither have won anything in any playoff for several years. You want to bring on guys based on what they did several years ago even though they have done nothing since. And you are banking on that they will resurect their careers in Detroit? It could happen but frankly that is really a long shot. Yea it happened with Murphy and Fetisov but that has nothing to do with Fedorov and Foote. It didn't happen with Luke Robataille or Curtis Joseph. They played ok when they were here but not great and remember Wendl Clark? Yea, he was here but most people don't even remember because he never did anything while he was here. No way we can give up a roster player (other than Sammy or Kopecky) to take a chance on one of these has beens. Even if they excell while they are here they are a year away from retirement so the return on investment would be pretty low. Lastly, we have enough guys that know how to win the cup Draper Maltby Lidstrom Chelios Hasek Osgood Datsyuk Holmstrom

    Christ, let it go people. Forsburg is done. He can't even lace up his skates. Fedorov and Foote have been playing poorly for the last 3 years. Why in the hell would we want them. It is not 2002, it's 2007. Move on.

    I doubt that luck had much of anything to do with it. We have great European scouts who can spot potential when others can't. We also have an awesome organization that knows how to develop young players and mold them into top players. Luck - I don't think so. Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterburg are all three superstars and all were picked late. No way we got lucky 3 times.

    Some of it was Manny's fault because he let in some soft goals, but the main problem was that we didn't score enough. Edmonton just outplayed us. There were only a couple guys who played well - Zetterburg and Robert Lang come to mind. Granted, Manny crumbled under pressure. That said though, I don't dislike the guy. He's now on a team that is not under alot of pressure. St. Louis probably won't make the playoffs and if they do, they certainly aren't going to go far.     They have a rule about free agents like Selanne. You have to be signed by the trading deadline which I believe is the end of February. I don't see anything wrong with the Selanne deal. The deal with Neids though stinks but you can't do anything about it. The Ducks could have just claimed he was injured, then how do you prove it one way or another.

    You're being sarcastic right? Schneider is at the end of his career and as we have found is injury prone now. He's missed 15 games this year so far. Short term, when he isn't injured, he's definitely an asset but he is a year or 2 from retirement. Penner isn't even very good? Really? He had 29 goals last year and is on pace to have 24 this year. He was essentially replaced with Bert who as we all know is recovering from Back Surgery and is also near the end of his career and has become injury prone. He's missed 14 games this year so far. Mac for Weight as you said is also a downgrade but not a big one. Weight also is old. 37. McDonlad is 30. They are about the same in ability by Doug is going to retire soon. Andy is not. You forgot about Bryzgalov who is one of the better back-up goaltenders in the league. Granted he may never be an issue but if they lose Giguere for any time at all in the playoffs, they are done. Remember that Bryz played in the first round last year. So I guess you could say IF all these old guys can stay healthy the rest of the year (2 of the 3 haven't so far) then they are not significantly worse off. But no way that you can say that they are better. Look at their record this year compared to last. Last year they almost won the Presidents Trophy. This year they are fighting to make the playoffs. They would be only 3 points ahead of the 9th team if you account for the games in hand. Better than last year? No way.

    Not me but I loved the fact that the ducks tried to goon it up and ended up losing the game. You want a team full of big strong Canadians so we can get the same result as the Sharks? Oh, but nobody beats on the Sharks. Only problem is that they don't win.

    So if Selanne comes back that means they only got worse by losing McDonald, Bryzgalov and Penner. Still, they have taken a step back and they barely won last year so they are no longer top dog. The Ducks got worse and the Wings got better.

    For F$#! sake we beat them. They tried to goon it up and we ended up winning because the goons were watching from the penalty box. Yes, it was a close hard fought game but their game plan didn't work. By the way, that makes 2 out of 3 we beat them this year and 3 out of 3 against San Jose. Enjoy it. If wwe see them in the playoffs it will look much like what we saw last night. And I don't want to hear about a broken stick. That's the breaks in hockey.

    Essentially the same team? Are you ignoring the fact that they lost Penner, McDonald and a very good back-up goalie in Bryzgalov? Last year they came within a few points of the Presidents Trophey. This year they are barely making the playoffs. How can you say that they are the same or better?

This is 2008. Yes they have improved in the last 15 games but you are saying that they are the team to beat based on 15 games?! Aging players huh? Like Back Surgery Bertuzzi, Schneider and Weight? Who replaced young studs like Penner and McDonald. Last year was last year. Another 1 year cup winner just like Tampa and Carolina

    How bout the fact that the Ducks got to play weak Minnesota and Vancouver teams when the Wings drew Calgary and San Jose. Or the fact that the Wings lost Kronvall for the entire playoff the last week of the season. Or the fact that they lost Schneider for the entire 3rd round. It was game 5 and the puck deflected off of Lidstrom's stick and flew up in the air and into the net. I still have nightmares...
