    Ducks

    Look at the standings and factor in the games in hand. The Duck have a 0.588 percentage (points/available points). Project that over 82 games and they would finish with 96 points. The cut-off would be 94 points and there are 5 teams with 94 or 96 points - Minnesota, Dallas, Aneheim, Colorado, Vancouver, and Calgary. If they slip up by only 3 points, they don't make the playoffs. The numbers don't lie regardless of what your book says. They are on the edge. Lastly, noboday has played this years Ducks when it mattered. You are still dwelling on last year. GP Pts Pt % Proj Pts. 1 Detroit * 49 74 0.755 124 2 San Jose 47 57 0.606 99 3 Minnesota 47 55 0.585 96 4 Dallas * 51 61 0.598 98 5 Anaheim 51 60 0.588 96 6 Colorado 48 56 0.583 96 7 Vancouver 48 55 0.573 94 8 Calgary 49 56 0.571 94 9 St. Louis 45 50 0.556 91 10 Phoenix 48 52 0.542 89 11 Nashville 47 50 0.532 87 12 Columbus 49 52 0.531 87 13 Chicago 48 50 0.521 85 14 Edmonton 50 49 0.490 80 15 Los Angeles 49 40 0.408 67

    Ducks

I want to play them in the playoffs this year so we can kick their asses. Anybody remember game 3? I think is was 5-0 on their ice. Priceless....
  3. chrisdetroit

    Ducks

No. LAST YEAR they were the team to beat. Since then they have replaced Penner, McDonald, Selanne and Bryzgalov with Weight, Schneider, and Bertuzzi. The result is that they are struggling to make the playoffs and are near last in the league in goal scoring. Wake up man, they were good last year but are mediocre at best this year. Sure Getzlaff and Perry are better but that can't make up for the massive loses they experienced over the summer.

    Ducks

Another opinion. The Sharks also are better equiped to handle a 7 game series than the Wings. So are the Flames. But what happened last year

    Ducks

But nobody knows what will happen in the future. You have to base it on something or it is just an opinion. Hockey is not played on Paper. Just ask the San Jose Sharks.

    Rafalski?

    Perfect summation!
  7. chrisdetroit

    Rafalski?

Brian Rafalski is a +14 (9th in the league among D-men) and has 41 points (2nd best D-man in the league behind Lids). Explain to me again what the issue is because I don't get it.

    Ducks

(probably best in the NHL) How did you come to that conclusion? The effectiveness of a team's defense is measure in these numbers" GAA - Aneheim is #5, Detroit is #1 SOGA - Aneheim is #15, Detroit is #1 PK - Aneheim is #18, Detroit #9 So what exactly are you basing this on?
  9. chrisdetroit

    Ducks

Why I'm NOT worried: #1 in the entire league in Penalties - yes, the most penalized team #18 in the league in PK - Put these two together and obviously there is a problem #10 in the league in goal differential - They have only scored 5 goals more than they have given up #24 in the league in GFA #17 in the league in SOG differential So let's summerize. They are the take more penalties than any other team and don't have a decent PK. They also are near the bottom of the league in scoring and in fact give up almost the same number of goals that they score. Also, they are mediocre in SOG meaning that they don't have the puck much. In summary, this is not a good team, let alone a Stanley Cup contender. This is not the same team as last year.

Blake pining to become a Wing?

Finally somebody with some sense. No Blake, Hossa or Sundin Not gonna happen

Blake pining to become a Wing?

Yes it is but not in a good way. Blake is washed up, we don't need him.

    1/19 GDT: Red Wings 6, Sharks 3

When LEADING after the first, the Sharks only win 61.9% of their games and when trailing after the 2nd they only come back and wing 12.5% of the time. This is why the Sharks are going to lose in the first or 2nd round again. Oh yea, and there is the fact that they actually have a LOSING record at home. I love it! Nabokov has given up 9 goals in his last 2 game. And the sharks are playing at home. Wings win big

A new point system for the NHL

Overtime playoff hockey is the ultimate. There is nothing better. Do NOT mess with it. When the Wings are playing, I will stay up as long as it takes and I will be on the edge of my seat the entire time.

A new point system for the NHL

Aneheim? What the hell are you talking about? Aneheim is 3-3 on the shootout. Do you mean Edmonton?
  15. chrisdetroit

Could Hossa come to Red Wings?

Aneheim?! They have zero salary cap space. Great article only if you ignore reality. All of this because he had 1 great game against the Wings? This must be the guy that started the Sundin rumor even though Mats has a no trade clause and said that he wouldn't wave it. "No sense in letting the facts get in way of a good story" Aneheim? Can't these people at least pretend to know what they are talking about?
  16. chrisdetroit

Could Hossa come to Red Wings?

It's not gonna happen. We have $5M+ cap space and Z is gonna eat that up and rightly so. Flip isn't going anywhere and we just made a long term commitment to Kronvall who is finally starting to develop.

Sat. Hotstove: Rob Blake to the Wings?

What is it with people on these boards that always want to get has beens? Blake is washed up. We don't need him. He was great 5 years ago. Not anymore. And while we're at it, no Foppa, Feds, Bert or any other washed up guys. You want guys just because they are big? You're kidding right?
  18. chrisdetroit

    Is Bab's a little shook?

Talk about overeacting!. It's 1 game in January, two if you count the Minny game. Early playoff exit!? Based on the last 2 games? Our PK exposed!? It's 5th in the league. Are you on drugs?

Sat. Hotstove: Rob Blake to the Wings?

    If you allow for games in hand, based on percentage of points available and pts earned, Aneheim squeeks in with the #8 spot just ahaead of that awesome Colorado team with an awesome .565 winning percentage..... Ironically, we eould play them in the first round GP Pts Pct. Proj Pts 1 Detroit * 46 70 0.761 125 2 San Jose * 43 56 0.651 107 3 Minnesota 44 52 0.591 97 4 Vancouver 44 52 0.591 97 5 Dallas 47 55 0.585 96 6 St. Louis 42 49 0.583 96 7 Calgary 45 52 0.578 95 8 Anaheim 46 52 0.565 93 9 Colorado 44 49 0.557 91 10 Phoenix 43 47 0.547 90 11 Columbus 45 48 0.533 87 12 Nashville 43 45 0.523 86 13 Edmonton 45 44 0.489 80 14 Chicago 44 42 0.477 78 15 Los Angeles 46 36 0.391 64

Sat. Hotstove: Rob Blake to the Wings?

Yes, they do suck. Look at the numbers, they are near LAST in the league in scoring. They have actually given up more goals than they scored and they are on the verge of not even making the playoffs. I'm not sure how you can say that they don't suck. There are 16 teams that make the playoffs and to be near the bottom of the pile and not being able to score more goals than you give up, well...what more needs to be said. Last year they were good, this year they suck. Alot has changed since last year No more Penner, McDonald, Selanne or Bryzgalov They've been replacesd with washed up Schneider, Weight, and Bertuzzi.

CuJo to sign with Calgary or San Jose

San Jose has 2 big weaknesses that will doom them in the playoffs again: 1. Coaching/character/maturity whatever you want to call it. The symptons are blowing leads in the playoffs repeatedly, and having the worst home record in the league. 2. No back-up goaltender or not having any faith in their backups. The symptom is that Nabokov plays every single game. He will be worn out by March. - ala Brodeur and Nabokov, though good is not in the same league as Marty. Interestingly poor coaching has something to do with #2. What coach in his right mind would start the same goaltender every single game. This is just stupidity. You'd think that Wilson would at least put in the back-up against some of the weaker teams. In summary, San Jose NEEDS Cujo. Of course they won't go after him because the Wilson twins are not that smart.

    Friday's practice in Ottawa

I agree, I don't think that it is as important as it's made out to be. Not many guys at the NHL level are intimidated. You can see this when little guys like Rex or even Dats throws a big hit. I'll never forget when Cleary (I think it was Cleary?!) laid out big bad Dion Pfanuff in the first round last year. Pfanuff got up and had no idea where he was. Intimidation from a big guy like Pfanuff?! I think not.

    hudler-filppula-cleary-franzen

I agree. If you give it some thought it's really not a tough choice. It can't be Flip because he has shown great offensive talent and excellent defensive play. This guy will be a superstar. Forget getting rid of Cleary because his work ethic in probably #1 on the entire team and he is offensively gifted as well as a very grity player. So that leave Rex and Mule. Rex is probably more talented offensively but Mule is big and phyisical while Huds is neither of these. so it really has to be Huds. But I really wouldn't want to lose any of the four especially not for one of the washed up guys that keep poping up on this board like Feds, Foppa, etc.

    Adam Foote

PRONGER! Are you on drugs. I would rather not win the cup than get that dirty son of a *****. Him and Claude Lemeuix are not welcome in Hockeytown. Kenny is not going to sign a classless scumbag like Pronger.
