Awesome article. It basically says that the Blues got their asses kicked, Legace let in some bad goals and they were embarassed in front of the largest home crowd ever. Even though the Wings were playing without their 2 top scorers. Oh, and hit by Frazen was a dirty hit - just that the refs didn't think so. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I love it.

You are letting your hate for Lilja cloud your judgement. If you saw the Colorado game, you saw Brian Rafalski give the puck away to one of Colorado's rookies who then scored. Then there was the horrible giveaway by Meech who after giving the puck away proceeded to not watch the "late man coming" which also resulted in a goal. Two defensemen, two poor plays that resulted in goals. But nobody mentioned them. You would rather bash Lilja. The Detroit D frequently pass the puck in front of the net. You need to be logical in your arguments

As much as I hate the Avs, SOME of their fans are low class morons. I won't forget seing signs in Denver during the games that say "Red Wings Suck". Low class and a great reason to hate them. You would never see that type of thing at the Joe. Then there's that ******* Claude Lemeuix...

There is no question that they have the talent, the size and the speed to potentially win it all. BUT, they are sorely missing vetern leadership (no JR doesn't fit the bill) and character to win it all. And they are a poorly coached team. Ron Wilson has never won anything. IMHO, they could be a contender along with Detroit and Ottawa but.... Consider this, they have only won 6 out of 18 home games this year. That's a perfect indicator of why they are not an elite team. With all the advantages of playing at home, they still can't win. That tells me that their problems are in there heads. We saw that when they played us last year in the playoffs. They blew leads in 3 of the 4 games that we beat them. Poor leadeship, poor coaching and a lack of character

Sammy has a 4.0% sucess rate on shots. This is the lowest on the team among all forwards except Drake and Downey who have limited ice time and aren't out their to score goals. Tops on the team are Homer (22.4) because of him standing in front tipping in shots, Fillpula (19.6), Huds (15.1) Draper (15.0), Cleary (11.0), Pavel (10.2).
-
Drake needs to go. He has a total of 2 points and is -7. Nobody else other than Derek Meech has a negative +/- and he's only -2 after having played in 8 games. We cannot have a defensive liability on the ice and Drake brings nothing that Aaron Downey doesn't. Unfortunately, we will not be able to unload Drake. He needs to be waved and his minutes given to Flip or Huds

What? You ship off Lebda and replace him with whom? Lebda is very fast, he's not overly big but he can be very physical. Who do you want to play in his place? Meech? Quincy? No thanks. As far as Fillpula, he isn't going anywhere. He is very good on the puck and excellent defensively. You need to think this through, Lebda is not going anywhere nor is Fillpula. Sammy, maybe. Hudler, maybe. But we are not going to get Martin St. Louis for either of them so forget this "premier" player crap. You haven't been paying attention this year have you? Aneheim better than last year? Are you on drugs? Aneheim is 1 game above .500. Last year they almost one the Presidents trophy. They are 28th in the league in goal scoring because they lost their 2 top scorers from last year in Selanne and Penner. And they just traded Andy McDonald for a washed up Doug Weight. So gone from last year - Selanne, Penner, McDonlad, Bryzgalov. New this year Schneider, Bertuzzi and Weight. Better than l;ast year? No friggin way. Finally, somebody with some common sense!
-
yea, sure, phoenix is gonna trade away Doan....
-
It shouldn't be surprising. Look at the numbers again. Their best year was their second year and it has decreased every single year since. The novelty has worn off. Granted that this year has been a bigger decrease but the trend is just a continuation. It's all about how you interpret the numbers.
-
Oh NO. Not Forsberg again. The guy CAN'T SKATE. And I mean that literally. Let it go man... How bout this, we pay Z $8mil a year for the next 7 years, make a couple of minor trades and call it good. Yea all those early playoff exits... We won 3 friggin stanley cups in the last 11 years. The last one was in 2002 which was only 6 years ago. Last year we came 1 bad call away from the Conference Finals. Maybe we should trade all our small guys for big strong guys like the Sharks have. Where did that get them lately? Take another look in that glass. It's half full my friend.
-
I agree. Nobody is going to shell out $4 mil a year for Mr. backsurgery. He's played in 15 of their 28 games and has 2 goals and 5 assist. That's less than 0.5 pts'game. And he's -1. Thats not much for that kind of money. Incidently Penner's numbers are 14 points in 29 games - still around .5/game but the difference is Penner hasn't missed a game and then that thing about Penner being at the begining of his career and Bert being past his prime. Bert for Penner (essentially) - what a stupid move. I'd get rid of Bert twice before I got rid of Schneider
-
The funny part is that it won't matter. The Ducks are 12-12-4. And why are they a .500 team? Because they can't score. They are #29 out of 30 in the league in GFA at a measly 2.2. And why the scoring slump? Because they lost their 2 top scorers from last year - Selane and Penner. And neither of them are coming back. Just like Tampa and Carolina - one year wonders. I'm smiling as I type this.

Along with Tootoo and Hartnell. Dirty players.

That's a bunch of crap that you are just repeating from the Versus anouncers last night. He came back to win the cup that he almost won last year. Nobody in hid right mind would say that Dom doesn't care. Everybody agrees that he is ultra competatitve. He's not playing great right now but to say it is because he doesn't care is just plain wrong. Yea, you're right, Osgodd can handle the pressure becuase HE WON A CUP......wait a minute, so did Hasek. Let's see Hasek won a cup 5 years ago. Osgood's was 9 years ago. That has to be one of the dumbest arguments in LGW history.
-
You're on drugs. the cup has been around for 80 years and the first 65 there were no Europeans so that argument is invalid. In fact, there are no teams in the league that are "primarily" European. The wings have 22 players on the roster and 12 are European. That's only 1 more than half. You need to get over your anti-European sentiment and enjoy the game. San Jose has lots of big strong Canadians and Americans and they can't seem to get past the 2nd round. Those "sissy" European Red Wings beat them last year.
-
That's the biggest bunch of crap I have heard in a long time. You are streotyping Europeans as "soft". European's don't play hard? Yea, sure watch Z , Datsyuk and Homer dogging it every night. And as far as soft, every one knows what a wuss Valddy was. And Homer is such a crybaby . Right... We need some more big strong Canadians like San Jose. How many cups have they won? Or how bout Aneheim. Who are they missing this year since they are #26 in the league in scoring? Selanne, the European. We ought to get rid of the Lidstrom guy, cause Euros suck.
-
You are taking a pessimistic view. A few things to consider - Datsyuk is only 26 Z is what 24? There are a couple of forwards who are COULD be very good - Filpulla, Hudler On D Nick has only a couple of years left and is irreplaceble but there are some good prospects - Erricson could be very good Kronwall has as we all know great potential but whether or not we will ever see it - who know In goal, Jimmy Howard may be a top goaltender in the next year or two, In short, I don't see them falling out of the playoff, there are too many guys in the system with potential
-
Huh? You said that you left out any teams that don't have a shot. The you should have left out the Ducks. They are dying without Selanne - 26th in the league in GFA. And the Rangers are worse. 29th in the league and that's a team that was supposed to be good offensively?
-
Bryz went to Phoenix yesterday. As far as they won't win the cup with Ozzie or Dom, what do you base that on? Can you believe that Tampa won with Khabibulin? or Carolina with Cam Ward (who?). Then there is the fact that the wings did in fact win the cup with Ozzie at one time and with Hasek another time. They could very easily have won the cup last year with Dom and in fact they almost did. The wings can win the cup again with a very good goaltender. They don't have to have the #1 in the league. The way Ozzie is playing, he would fit the bill. The way Dom played last year, would do it also.
-
You need to stick to NHL07 or whatever it is. We don't have the cap space for Alex O and we still have to give Z a bucket of money this summer. Let's see, who would Washington want in a trade for Alex? Z? Datsuk? Lids. It really IS out of the question
-
Worst in the league?! That's a ridiculous statement. Goalies are rated on GAA and save pct. For golaies that have played at least 10 games, his GAA is 9th worst. Both Khabibulin and Chris Mason are worse. As far as save percentage, the stats are meaningless. Why you say? Because he has not had enough shots on him. He has faced 199 shots on goal. There are 39 goaltenders that have faced more. You can't compare save percentages between a guy that faces 576 shots (Thomas Vokun) to a guy that faces 199. What does this all mean? It means that it is too early to tell. After he has faced 300 or 400 shots (double what he has now) then we can compare. He's not playing great, but it's way too early to panic. That's exactly right, he isn't playing like a wild man like he normally does. I think part of that is that he's sitting back in the net watching the game at the other end of the rink. He needs more shots on him to get it going. Dom thrives on competition. He's not getting it now. He's best when he's making spectacular saves. There hasn't been a need for it in the last few games he played. Unfortunately, that means that the other team needs more chances and that's contrary to what the wings want to do.
-
You're kidding right? He has 15 points in 19 games and he is a +6. But then you probably think Lids sucks too.
-
Give me a break! 1 bad game and he's "done". ALL goalies have a bad game now and then. This is a total of 1.
-
Sounds great to me too but it just is not going to happen. Sundin is not going anywhere. This rumor keeps popping up but there is no truth to it.
