Who cares if it's Dats or Z scoring most of the goals? The fact is that the HDZ line is one of the best in the game right now. Why would you mess with it. You are forgetting that hockey is a team sport. I don't care if Dats finishes with 2 goals and a pile of assists. It's about the team

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Ao6Q...p&type=lgns Finally, now we can stop talking about Foresburg!
-
Me too. They wern't that great last year either . The hockey gods were good to them, getting Minny in the first round and a Canuck team in the second round that couldn't score. When we had to travel to Calgary then San Jose. And lost two of our top denfsemen. Then they get that lucky bounce in game 5 in the dying seconds on a very questionable call against us. After we blew them out at home in game 3 by 4 goals. I hate them more than the Avs. Especially that punk Pronger.

Looking at it from where he sits now, he can't be happy. The Ducks have close to zero chance to win the cup this year. Without Selanne and Neidemeir they are just another mediocre team. It's only been 15 games but it's already obvious. He could have stayed in Detroit who with is definitely in the hunt.
-
Exactly how can you eliminate that concern? People want to IGNORE that concern because there is no way to eliminate it. Since he had his second ankle surgery just this past summer, how do we know that the ankle will hold up? You don't. "If we can eliminate that concern" ?! You might as well say, if he was 10 years younger.
-
Yes it could be he would because he would take minutes from one of our young guys. Young guys are the future, Forsberg is the past. Move on already. How bout this, put Hank, Homer, Dats, Lids and Rafalski on the Power Play and be prepared to be amazed. Oh...wait, we already go that. Lang left a void? I think not. There is a reason that the Wings didn't even make Lang an offer. The Foresburg of 2002 could help, but he retired a long time ago. What is left is a guy that has had surgery on both ankles and can't find a skate that he can wear. Why would you want that guy?

Agrred. Erricson is going to be a top 4 defenseman. He stays

Remember this pesky salary cap thing. Well, realistically you can only have a few 6M+ guys on a team, 3 or 4 max. We got Lids and Datsyuk. This summer, we will add Z to that list. Kipper is one of the top 2 or 3 goalies in the league and he is going to get at least 5mil, maybe more. Plain and simple, we can't afford him. Just like we couldn't afford Brier or Ryan Smythe or Druary. End of discussion Oh, and I forgot Rafalski

That's a load of crap. The Leafs are not going to trade Sundin, he is their only decent player. Sundin is Sweedish, Detroit has lots of Swedes, therefore Sundin will be traded to Detroit. That's pretty stupid logic. I'd take him in a minute but it's just not going to happen,

Foresberg can't find a skate that will work on his surgically repaired ankle. How much is he worth if he can't skate. I'll pass. Because he is much better defensively than Hudler or Kopecsky.

Tellqvist a star of the game, and Zetterberg not? Am I missing somethi

Boy this is a silly discussion. We beat their asses. Who cares who they name the stars. Give me the win, you can have the stars. -
Nasville a powerhouse last year? I think not. They were way overhyped and benefitted from playing in the same weak division that we were in. We went 6-1-1 against Nashville. They were eliminated in 5 games in the first round (for the second straight year). The Hawks are much improved and might make the playoffs. Same goes for St. Louis but neither are cup contenders. The BJ's are no better and the Preds are going to be much worse than last year. The Wings are vulnerable? Where did he get that from? We are 6-2-1 and lead the league in goals. Probably the same idiot that predicted that we wouldn't make the playoffs last year. Some of these guys need to actually start watching games.

One of the GR kids was wearing #14 in preseason. I disagree neither #14 nor #91 should be retired. They were both great for us when they were here but they weren't in the same category as Lindsay, Delvecchio, Yzermann, Howe, Sawchuck or Abel (or Lidstrom).
-
This isn't even debateable. HIs number will be retired and he will enter the HOF as soon as he is eligeable.
-
yea because doan has lots of years left in him and Flip just doesnt have any potential - no skills whatsoever. Let's get rid of all our small skilled guys and get a bunch of oafs like they have in San Jose or Aneheim. Shane Doan is a career -35 for god sakes. But he's big and that's all that seems to matter on this board.

Lindros... LOL.... very funny Come back time? You mean retirement time

TSN's "Expert" Panel Standings and Cup Picks
chrisdetroit replied to Captain_Yzerman19's topic in General
So who do the Rangers have on defense that will carry them to the cup?.... exactly. Defense wins cups, Therefore the Rangers are not going to win the cup. -

Sounds good but let's not forget these are the same guys that picked San Jose to beat us in round 2. -
He had back surgery last year. What more do we need to discuss?
-
We cannot give a roster spot to a guy just to be an enforcer. He needs to be able to score. Period. The game has changed. You don't win with a bunch of goons like the Broadstreet Bullies 30 years ago. Cut Lilja? Oh, you must have missed the playoffs last year.
-
yea..............right.........
-
Defense wins cups. The weak link in the sharks is defence. Hence no cup, It really is that simple. They didn't come that close to beating us. They blew leads in three games. What was the score in game 5? 4-1 without Schneider. They are sorely lacking leadership and the coaching is suspect. They don't scare me at all. Defense wins cups. Period.
-
This is really a silly conversation. I think that the point was that if Nick was on any other team, he would have been captain sooner. Duh!
-
What? Good defense has to be a 4 or 5
-
Yea, 1967 (the last Leafs Cup) was a long time ago. Bigger and faster is not necessarily going to get us the cup. Look at San Jose. On paper, they should have at least 2 cups, but they have never been to the Finals. Why? Leadership. Coaching. They are certainly bigger and faster than most teams including the Wings but they are lacking the leadership and the knowledge of what it takes to win. I think alot of people on here minimize these things. San Jose is a glaring example of this. Bigger and faster would be nice but maturity and leadership are more important as well as coaching. Look at the Flames performance against us in the playoffs. A great example of poor coaching. So forget about bigger and faster. It would be nice, but we can win without it.
