OK, I'll say it. They are no longer cup contenders. They not only lost Neidemeier but Selanne and one of their best young guuys in Penner. The wings would have bought out Fedorov or Lidstrom? Are you on drugs?
-
I don't agree. Illitch should spend some of his own money to renovate the Joe. All of the things can be fixed without building a new building.
-
Anybody remember the "knock the puck down with a high stick and kick it in" goal in game 6 against us?
-
Lilja isn't going anywhere until he has his chance to prove that he can play in the regular season like he did in the playoffs. If he goes back to his old ways he will either sit or be traded. I'd give him until Christmas. I'm betting on the new Lilja beating out the old Lilja.

1 good year does not put them in the same category as Colorado. No Neidemeir, no Selane, no Penner. No chance in hell that the Ducks will make it to the WCF again. They lost their best forwards, best d man and best young player in the same year. Colorado didn't lose guys like that after their cup. Put the ducks on the scrap heap with Carolina and Tampa.

Yea, they really suck don't they. Give me a break. Yea we really sucked in the playoffs.
-
Certainly in the top few. What about Hasek? He's gotta be up there.

Ok. Call it something different if you want. They lost Timonen, Hartnell and Kariya. All free agents that they chose to not make any offers to that were even close to what they eventually got paid. Then they traded one of the top goalies in the league so that they could slash payroll. Now you could argue that Mason is better, but one good year (actuall 1/2 year) does not make an NHL goalie. So in summary, they lost their best D-man (Timonen) their #1 goalie (Voukon), their best forward (Kariya) and one of their best up and coming forwards (Hartnell). All because they didn't want to pay them. Based on this, there is no way in hell that they are going to turn around and pay big bucks for Foresburg. Foresburg '02 would be nice. Foresburg '07 naaaaaaaaaah

It's total speculation. They list Nashville and in the same article it talks about a big contract. This is the same Nashville team that had a fire sale. Sure, they are going to throw big bucks at Foresburg. Total crap. And please Kenny, say no to Mr. ankle surgery. So will Selanne. Bye bye Duckies. First and Last Stanley Cup.

Man, you beat me to it

See Aneheim. Oops, I thought that you said goons, not monkeys Never is a long time.

Let's see the Ducks won the cup by beating the hapless Minnesota Wild and the ofense challenged Canucks then barely got past the wings. The following summer they lose their best D-man in Neidemeir, their best forward in Selanne and their best young prospect in Penner. Add them to the scrap heap of 1 year wonders with Carolina and Tampa. The only burning question is will they even make the playoffs and if so how are they going to do it without Neidemeir, Selanne or Penner. With over the hill Schneider and bad back Bert? I think not. I love it! What a great summer when both Nashville and the Ducks teams implode at the same time! in tacked? I love it. It's intact. ROFLMAO

No Lebda is not going down. More likely Lilja and Meech would battle for the last spot and Quincy would go back down. We need Lebda for his speed. No thanks. As this thread indicates we have enough D-men so we should hold our ground with Markov. Although I really like him, he is not the future and he would be taking ice time from a Quincy or Meech who are the future. Missing the playoffs? How on earth does somebody think that either Chicago, Columbus, Nashville or St. Louis is going to finish with a much better record than us. I know you didn't say it but I have heard this before and it is just such a stupid statement that - well, I don't know what it say. As far as the final four, we were in it this year with 2 top d-men out and we have basically the same team.

Rumor: Ducks won't match offer for Penner
chrisdetroit replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
It's a really good deal for them? You're kidding right? The guy was a rookie last year. $4.3 million plus 3 draft picks for somebody that has a track record of 1 year. No thanks. -
No, actually I read somewhere that Dallas has the most travel. Everyone of the other teams in their division is 2 time zones away,
-
Agreed but it is also an anti-European issue. People don't identify with the Europeans. Note that the names you mentioned- Yzerman, Shanahan and McCarty are all from North America. How many Canadians/American big names do we have? None. Except maybe Chelios. Our bigest stars are Lidstrom, Zetterburg, Datsyuk, Hasek. Every one is European. Rafalski is too new and not realy a "big" name. People were really excited when we got Bertuzzi - a big name and also Canadian. The anti-European bias is IMO a big part of the problem.

No more washed-up has beens taking ice time from Flip or Rex. I'll pass. Uwe Krupp
-
What? You mean free agents like Yzerman, Lidstrom, Fedorov, Datsyuk, Zetterburg? The Wings in the last 10-15 years have built mainly on finding gems in the lower ends of the drafts. As far as free agents, sure they grabbed a few high caliber free agents but they also got some big names with trades - Shanahan and Hasek come to mind. To say that they relied on free agents, is just not accurate.

The wings go down 2-0 to SJ in game 2 after having lost game 1 at home.

Mlive: Russian club Vityaz Chekhov courting Markov
chrisdetroit replied to SuperCalaFilppulastic!'s topic in General
There are 29 other teams in the league that agree that he is not worth $4 mil. Otherwise he would have been signed with one of them. It's been 3 weeks and nobody of the 30 teams has offered him the money that he wants. That's all 30 teams. He can eithe lower his price or play in Russia. Even Lowe isn't going to overpay for him. No more washed up players please and Foote isn't going anywahere. -
Neither, they are both washed up. Let's move on.
-
He needs to play more physical and with his size, he could really up his game. He really picked it up in the playoffs and this could be his break-out year. We need him to be physical and the goals will come. Agreed Kopecky and Gigorenko have not show much (or anything) at the NHL level and Kronwall has not been consistant even when he's not injured. Filpulla, on the other hand has played brilliantly most of the time on the ice. He's shown to be very good defnesively also. He reminds me of Z.

The Aneheim Ducks win the 2006-2007 Stanely cup despite their #1 defensemen being suspended twice during the playoff. The first time in the WCF he recieved a 1 game suspension for driving Tomas Holtrom's head into the glass. Then during the SCF, he elbowed and Ottawa player in the head, recieving another one game suspension.

Agreed Burke would be stupid to turn down the draft picks AND pay Penner $4.3 M a year. He has great potential but at this point in his career, we isn't worth that kind of money. Plus that would give the Ducks Salary Cap problems. I say, let him go. It is ironic that he essentially traded Schneider and Bert for Penner. I love it. Burke screwed himself. No thanks. We don't need him and he is going to retire anyway The best line-up in the west without Neidemayer, Selanne or Penner? You're kidding right? No way that Schneider and bad back Bert can replace those 3 guys, two of which are easily in the HOF.
