Trade Flip? You are nuts. Flip is going to be the next Z. Penner has had 1 good playoff. Everybody is drooling over him just because he's big. I'd like to have him but not at the expense of Flip. There is more to Hockey than size.
-
What are you talking about? Hudler sux? I don't think that I have ever heard that before.
-
I agree with all that except to say that Legace was the only reason we lost to Edmonton. I agree that he was the biggest reason, but none of the guys played well that series except Z and would you believe Robert Lang. We were clearly lacking the passion that we showed this year. I think that we were just outplayed by an Oil team that wanted it more.
-
What? They had broken us? We dominated game 5 start to finish. They won on a lucky bounce off Lids' stick due to a ridiculous penalty call then a bad turnover in overtime. We almost came back and won game 6. At the end of the game Selanne said that that was the most scared (of losing) that he had ever been. Doesn't sound like they had alot of confidence. If we had got our asses kicked the next 3 games, I would agree with you but we lost 3 games by a total of 4 goals and one of those were in OT. That doesn't sound like a "broken" team.

Here we go again with the enforcer debate. Why is everybody so anti-euro and pro North American? More stereotyping.
-
With or without an enforcer Dickhead - opps I men Pronger, would still run at guys. I don't want an enforcer taking up ice time for a guy like Fillpula. The world has changed. Forget the enforcer and for God's sake don't start the "we need more grit" thread again. We have enough. Look a SJ. Biggest, fastest, youngest team in the league but can't get it done. That must mean that there is more to winning than bigger, stronger, younger. The same applies to enforcers.
-
They are both going to retire. Why would Selanne play another season. He won the cup last year for the first and only time. He has nothing left to play for and wants to go out on top. Foresburg had ankle surgery again this summer. He's done. Now let's move. I'm ok with the lineup we have.
-
I agree. As long as we win, I don't care. I love to see Datsyuk undress a defender just as much as I love to see Dion Fanuc get leveled by Dan Cleary. It's all good. Don't forget toughness alone won't win anything. Just ask the San Jose Sharks - the biggest, youngest, fastest team in the league who got their asses kicked by the "soft" wings Hockey isn't played on paper, it's played on ice as we proved in the playoffs.
-
Sean Avery - good character and leadership. Are you serious? The guy has some talent but ends up in the penalty box way to much and as such puts his team at a disadvantage. good character and leadership? I'm with you. He had 174 PIM last year and 157 in 2002. That's not an improvement. This is why we don't need him back.

Who will challenge the Wings for Central title?
chrisdetroit replied to Bert44Wingsfan's topic in General
Lose more than 3 games? That's going a little bit far. There's 32 games against Central teams. You are saying that we would go 29-3. That's not even realistic. I would bet we loose 1 or 2 to each team and maybe sweep one of them to total 5-7 losses. -
Management practically admits offseason mistakes?
chrisdetroit replied to WingedWheels's topic in General
Exactly. And now these people want to pay for bad ankles Foresburg. No thanks, I'll pass -
There are probably 5 or 6 teams that would pay Z the league maximum in a heartbeat. Does he deserve $8Mil. Hell Yes! What? Missing the playoffs? With Nashville, Chicago, St. Louis and Columbus in our division? We could play half of the Grand Rapids guys and still make the playoffs. Seems like we were a top 4 contender this year and we lost nobody of significance. Forgetting the guy that missed 95% of the season due to back surgery and showed nothing after returning. I wish everybody would stop bring up Foresburg. Ankle surgery for a hockey player is a carrer ender. Foresburg will retire this summer. Yea because we really sucked in the playoffs this year. He obviously had no idea what he was doing last year. He only added a 42 year old goaltender and a D-man that Nashville didn't want. We showed no grit in the playoffs. Fire his ass!
-
You're not serious are you? He wasn't motivated to play his best because he wasn't on a good team?! We want guys that will give 110% NO MATTER WHAT. Nothing else is acceptable. Character is a very part of the game. To suggest that we sign a guy like Yashin who will only give 100% when he wants to is nuts. My guess is that we will trade for this top 6 forward. I would take a completely healthy Foresburg too but there are none of those available. We all know what Foresburg USED TO BE ABLE TO DO. Unfortunately, right now he can't even skate. So why do people keep dreaming about signing the Foresburg of 2003? It's just like the fantasy of signing the Bertuzzi of 2002. Those guys don't exist anymore.
-
Because they are only looking at the big names and not analyzing the entire team, The Rangers do not have a strong defence. Defence wins cups. Therefore....
-
Basic math says that you can only have 3-4 guys that make $6 mil plus. We have Lids, Datsyuk, and Raflalski. Next year Z will be added to the list. Since all the big names are $6mil +, we aren't getting any of them. So you can dream about guys like Hossa or Heatly but it is not going to happen. Basic math.
-
You're being sarcastic right? All's we have is Zetterburg, Datsyuk and Holmstrom. LMAO. And we should sign Foresburg even though he can't skate becuase of ankle surgery. And Aneheim has better Defenense without Neidemeir... ha ha ha The impact Todd Bertuzzi would have had....ha ha ha ha. The guy just had BACK SURGERY after which he played like a big slow old forward. He looked like Darien Hatcher would look like playing forward. Be serious. Finaly, somebody I agree with! Well said.
-
Wow! How did you read that into the article. I read it as here's who's left and the Wings would never pay more than $4m for Yashin. Nowhere does it even suggest that they are interested in offering Yashin anything. I guess that's how rumors start.
-
Modano is at the end of his career and his scoring has dropped off quite a bit. We don't need any 37 year olds that score 22 goals.
-
No. WIthout Neidemeir, Aneheim is screwed. Without Neidemeier OR Selane, Aneheim is done. Another 1 hit (year) wonder just like Tampa and Carolina. You can't loose your #1 Defenseman and your #1 Forward and expect to be at the same level. If Selane were to go to Philly - who cares? Philly was the WORST team in the league last year. There are 20+ guys on the roster. Signing 3 or 4 top notch guys will not suddenly make them Stanley Cup contenders. For them to even make the playoffs would be an accomplishment.

Holland: Free Agent Shopping is Probably Done
chrisdetroit replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
Yea, let's remove Holland as a GM since he's doing a lousy job. We haven't won a cup is 5 years for the love of God! And let's see, we heven't been to the final 4 since, oh this year and we haven't finished with 100 points since the lase 7 years in a row. There must be somebody out there that's doing a better job. Let's see... Buffalo lost in the ECF two years in a row then gave up their top 2 players, Aneheim won the cup this year but 2 years ago didn't even make the playoffs. Who else? Oh, San Jose lost in the 2nd round 2 years in a row. Yea, Holland sucks, he doesn't have a clue. -

Lost everybody but Hasek? Rafalski for Schneider certainly isn't a loss. Lang and Calder? Come on, those aren't losses. Bertuzzi a loss? That's debateable. Grigs with any effort at all is at least equal to Lang. Calder didn't even play in much of the playoffs so he's the odd man out - no loss there. So that just leaves Bert who admittedly had potential but really is a crap shoot. So we really are in my opinion, only down 1 guy. If we don't sign anybody else, Kopecky gets the ice time. Yes, I know, Kopecky << 2002 Bert but 2002 Bert left the building. I think our chances are better. Why would they be lower? Because we let Calder and Lang go? Because we lost an inefective Bert who just had back surgery? Are you serioius. -
Foresburg just had ANOTHER ankle operation. He will retire before October
-
It won't grow because without Niedemeir and Selane, and all the lucky breaks they got this year the Ducks won't make it past the first round. That's two holes that can't be easily filled. yea and Buffalo lost in the conference finals 2 years in a row. Anybody expect them to make it next year?
-
In no way did they "beat our asses" this year. One game was won when they pushed Hasek into the goal with the puck, and one game they won when they chipped in a puck off Lidstrom's stick with 30 seconds left after we dominated the game. The only "ass beating" I remember was a 5-0 score in California and they were on the recieving end.
-
Or Selanne, or two soft teams as opponents in the first two rounds. The hockey gods were very good to the Ducks this year - that doesn't happen 2 years in a row...
