    Official Bring Back Markov Thread

If this was last season I might agree. Lilja was HORRIBLE last regular season. But, in my eyes at least he had a really productive playoff, and he has REALLY stepped up his game this season so far. Also, Kronwall is doing awesome. He hits... no he destroys people. He's young, and very very talented. Give him a little more time to blossom and he will be a star player here.

    Wings to move East?

I would love to see it, but also am very skeptical until I see something. Why? Because Bettman has managed to completely ruin the game already, and I really see no hope for the NHL at this point...unless somebody like the players, the NHLPA, the ownsers, SOMEBODY stands up for themselves and gets our game back (with HOCKEY rules, not ******* basketball rules, and hockey teams in hockey cities -- I still feel bad for Quebec and Winnipeg) I would love to see us playing the Leafs, Rangers, Bruins, Habs all the time!!! I'm sorry but I just can't get into this new NHL, especially the rules and the schedule. Det - Nash, Det-Columbus , Det-Phx ... ??? I just can't try and pretend these are real rivalries. On another note, if this DOES happen, whats to stop Chris Chelios from signing with the Hawks AND the Wings and playing in 2 conferences at the same time?

    Finally Downey is playing

I liked what he had to say in between periods, and I liked what I saw from him during the game. If it were up to me, when Sammy comes back, I would trade him (yes, trade sammy) and get somebody with some more grit and heart. Then, I would also leave Downy in the lineup. How many times a night do we hear that "Samuelsson couldn't handle it" or "Samuelsson just couldn't get there" or "Samuelsson bumped off the puck" ...constantly.

    Larry Murphy on FSD

His hair is almost as bad as his announcing. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Having your name on the Stanley Cup mulitple times, being an outstanding defenseman, and in the hall of fame does not give you the right to all the sudden start a career in broadcasting.

So is anyone regretting we got rid of lang?

No regrets at all. All Robert Lang did in Detroit was loaf around all the time. Quite simply, I thought he was lazy and a liability when he was on the ice. Now if we could only send Samuelson to Chicago I would be more than happy haha - Joey

    Hockeytown is DEAD

I would definitely say the changes to the league are effecting attendance. Bettman has truly ruined our game. It took him over a decade to do it, but finally he has met his goal. The NHL is a complete joke. It's not the game we grew up with, it's not the game the players grew up with.

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

It's like my brother says: It's pretty sad when I could probably go buy a replica wings jersey with proper letting and numbering from some fool on the street in Alberta, but I can't buy one from the Redwings

    Hockeytown is DEAD

Yeah I thought it was pretty sad last night when the loudest parts of the game were for 1) Orange Hat Guy 2) The Knitting Lady 3) Some soldier returning from the war Don't get me wrong, I got up and cheered for the guy too...but why is the crowd completely dead the rest of the game? Some fool from Edmonton in front of me was louder than the rest of the whole rink.

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

Maybe a big part of the issue is that growing up, we never got jersey's from the JLA because they were always way more money. I always had them from places like Perani's, or B&R, or Eastside Sports. Perhaps I never even noticed the ones at JLA were wrong until now, because now other places like hockeytown authentics are selling the same ones. I will definitely be buying any future jerseys from local shops and verify they use the letters from the company mentioned. In addition, I still refuse to ever buy a jersey from hockeytown authentics or anything for that matter until they, reebok, or both get their act together. Even if they order jerseys from reebok, they are still selling and endorsing garbage jerseys in a store that is supposed to be official redwings merchandise. Thats my view on it.

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

Brilliant post!!! Thanks so much for your well thought out, educated, and intelligent reply. This is all I really wanted -- a straight answer from somebody that actually knows. If this is in fact the case, then shame on Rebok, and shame on the NHL for going with them. I heard Chelios has already been complaining about the new jerseys retaining moisture. Regarding what you said above about stopping the unique sweaters...yes it's true not everybody wants a jersey of a big name star. Actually, in my family we have a running joke and game...we actually try to obtain and look out for the rarest classic wings jerseys. It's fun for us to name off random players that played here when we were growing up. Like, at the game we always have somebody we declare the winner on the evening haha... For instance, somebody wearing a Dave Lewis jersey #52, or #16 Chabot will just have us high fiving, laughing, and having a great time. My last birthday, my brothers got me a #25 Mark Habscheid and I wear it proudly lol ...we countered by getting my one brother Alan Bester, and my other brother #27 Schnepps haha

    New sweaters suck

I totally agree. Yeah, lets destroy 75+ years of tradition for RBK , haha what a joke

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

Why have all the replica's officially sold by the Wings in the years prior to 2006-2007 all had exactly matching lettering and numbering with regards to their size? The replicas sold before had the right letters and numbers and were STILL cheaper. Nothing has changed here, except that they are now making replicas with wrong numbers for the same amount of money. What I am asking for is what always was before -- replica jerseys that had no difference to the authentics other than the ones pointed out earlier, which was fight strap, certain minor stitching differences, and a patch...not something as dramatically different as completely wrong numbering

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

I'm glad I'm preaching to the choir in your case. At least we have 1 more informed person now that will not pay for this garbage. I can tell you Perani's hockey world will do you a good job. Thats where my brother went for his holmstrom after we got the ebay rip off version from hockeytown "authentics" in Troy. His new one looks perfect.

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

You are absolutely correct, and now I recall these other minor differences. Thanks for correcting me. These are all things that in the past didn't merit another $150 to me personally...as long as the lettering, logo, and numbers were correct, oh and also the "C" or "A" if I had a sweater from a captain. I once got a Gretzky LA jersey that was so badly butchered I can't even wear it out of embarrassment now. Anyways, since I would never spend alot of money on a jersey then go ruin it by actually wearing it to play in, the replica was always perfect for me. I guess that has changed. I guess the thing that bothers me is that nobody working there will even acknowledge the problem, and that I know there are a lot of fans out there, or people buying sweaters for fans that are just not that into it or knowledgeable about the difference. To me, the wrong numbers is a very significant difference, and I wouldn't even want a jersey that was done like that. Oh, the other thing I guess is that they have made something I used to love to buy cheaper and dumbed down, so yeah of course that makes me mad. Something I bought before is now the same price and less quality.

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

I agree, it could easily be a matter of making things cheaper. If things have changed to the point where they can't even make a $155 replica jersey with proper numbering, then I *still* will never buy one again but thats just me. At the very least, let people know. The people selling them seem oblivious to the fact that anything has changed.
  16. joey_corleone

    Hockeytown NON-Authentics

In the past, the only major difference was that the "official" ones had 1) The fight strap sewn in, and 2) tougher stitching around the elbows. That was IT. There was no difference in lettering or numbering. This was as far back as I remember, including CCM, KOHO, and Nike. Again, it was only last year that these lame ones started popping up. Before then, there were never "replica" jerseys being sold in general around stores, and certainly not from the actual redwings organization with improperly done numbering

What does not make any sense is that this all the sudden started last season. I am 25 years old. I got my first Yzerman jersey in 1987, followed by one in 1995, and 2002...all perfect. I've had many other jerseys over the years, and so have my brothers. We've worn everything from Small to Extra Large. It has to do with the ratio in size. It makes no sense

    Hockeytown is DEAD

It's nice to see sold out crowds...it's nice to be a part of them. But, my father before me had season tickets all through the 70's, the dead wings era...and now I have season tickets. I am a fan. I will always be a fan, weather the wings are great or they are in last place. I will be at the games, and enjoy them so that is all that really matters to me. It might be kind of refreshing to get rid of all this bullcrap marketing they've been promoting for the last 10 years. I'd rather just go down and watch the game and cheer for my team, and not have to deal with listening to some retarded pop song about "hockeytown" or whatever.

    Fighting Haters

I don't know, but I was laughing and smiling all night after seeing Dallas Drake drop the gloves. So classic. Attention NHL: If everybody hates fighting so much, why is the entire crowd cheering and on their feet ever time a fight breaks out? Credit to Don Cherry - Joey

    Versus Airing Wings Game Early

This is infuriating and very bad news for me. I myself have Comcast digital cable, with an HDTV. When it is on both FSN and versus, versus gets blacked out for me. The problem is that Versus has it on their HD feed, versus-HD, and FSN doesn't hardly ever televise road games in HD. So, I am stuck with the crappy SD feed once again.
