I know holland wants the prospects over-ripe, but with Nyquist, Andersson, Kindl, Smith, Emmerton, and Mursak banging on the door hard this year, I cannot justify us hanging on to some of these other players. Hudler for one (Sorry Huds, you don't get my vote for mayor anymore) and probably also Cleary (after next year). Homer and Lidstrom are set to retire, Stuart is likely gone to the west coast. Helm, Abby, Quincey are up for Re-signing. I don't think Holland would've gotten Quincey had he not intended to sign him over the offseason. Janik is UFA this year. Simply put, we need an effective plan B. and is it just me, or do we need to take Hudler off the 2nd line and put Cleary there maybe? park his ass in front of the net?

according to capgeek, we have Cleary at 2.8 through next year. I think he's done after that. Cleary is slipping back into laziness. Nystrom has his elbows down and the puck is right there for either of them to play. If he thinks that Letang is going to get the puck before him, doesn't he have a right to blow up Letang from handling the puck, i.e. Good Old Time Hockey? Eddie Shore? Had Letang not tried his best (and failure) Datsyuk impersonation, and taken the body hit, he would've been body blasted into the glass, probably written off as a hard and clean check. After watching the vid, it does not appear to me that Nystrom targets the head in any deliberate fashion. Of course, if this was the pittsburgh broadcast, those dillholes Steigerwald and Errey would be calling for Nystrom to be banned from the league.

I'd rank St Louis ahead of Nashville. Trotz gets his way like Hitchcock. Turns mid-grade average guys into overachievers. Nashville hasn't had anything of "star power" on their first 2 lines since Arnott and DuMont were rolling the 1st line. Sure, Erat shows some skill, but without Rinne/Weber/Suter/Lindback manning the defensive zone, Nashville would be just above Edmonton and Columbus. Nashville needs a GM that will get them what they need. Not a 7 mil per year goalie. St Louis has a coach heading the team in the right direction, a solid ownership forthcoming, and some promising young stars ready to go. With Halak and Elliott holding the fort, that makes prospect Bishop tradeable. Face it cprice, if he's not out of Peoria next year, he'll be in an NHL barn somewhere. Tampa could sure use a #1 goalie prospect right about now, and St Louis could use more shooters...which Tampa has a s*** ton of....Ryan Malone and a pick for Bishop and a pick?

The only thing SJ has done different this year than years past is not bury Niemi into the ground with excessive amounts of games in the reg. season, mostly because Niemi was injured the first month of the year. Adding Burns has not given them a spark, and hell, i'll say that their D has gotten worse since 2008 when they had a super D in place (Boyle, Ehrhoff, Blake, Vlasic, Murray, Huskins, Lukowich) Marleau's getting older. Thornton is getting even more washed up. Pavelski is learning how to dive from Thornton. Couture is young and having an effective season thus far. Havlat is injured (again). But SJ has no DEPTH. Handzus isn't scoring as he used to be able to. I've seen what he could do when he was with the Flyers. He isn't the same guy he was. Remember last year, game 7, it took the Sharks playing their top 6 in excess of 25 minutes that night to put us away. They also went 23+ in games 4, 5, and 6. The Sharks were too gassed and that made them easy for the Canucks to pick apart. No matter how good Niemi or Greiss are, they're gonna get blown up again. If the ownership of the Sharts had any real interest in winning, they'd intervene since the GM isn't doing it. Thomas has angered the hockey gods by putting himself ahead of the team. He will be Smote.
