Bingo. I don't get the animosity from fans, yet the organization seemed to be a-ok with the process all along. I mean, there is a salary cap, and with all the extensions and such, we really couldn't afford Hudler's contract. He made it very clear that he only wants to play for Detroit and the arbitration turned out well (as far as I know it wasn't the disaster that arbitrations usually are in relation to slaughtering the player and org). It really seemed like a win-win situation. Some players got to develop on the Wings while Hudler made some dough and stayed competitive for a year. Now he'll be back at a great price.

Wow, I had no idea that Z is almost a point per game player in the playoffs. Crazy stats.

I'm pretty sure the greatest ending to this thread is someone from the boards popping in and saying, "So you're the guy that asked me for an autograph!"

Funny, because after looking at your pics... I disagree. I definitely see similarities, IMO. The beginning could easily be his D in a hurry and the flourishy 8 or S looking thing looks similar to his B, especially in the second picture. And the 17 looks like it is written in a similar way.

I collect autographed Wings cards only now. Past and present players. The secret is to find those who deal and trade regularly(some great websites out there), and you get some great deals. I just started this past year and have a nice small collection started. I'm actually in the process of scanning and uploading my collection to flickr or photobucket, if anyone is interested. That sucks. I would make a big deal about it, b/c that is not very fair. However, maybe the mistake is in what Zetterberg says? Maybe he was supposed to say 21 times, but said 20 instead? And they actually chose from the 21 pool?

I was thinking he was going a little overboard with the Vezina talk, but if you really look at the numbers, and he keeps it up the last few games, he has a case for at least being nominated. If you take out the goalies that haven't started at least 41 games (half the season), this is where Howard ranks... Wins 5. Ryan Miller 37 Wins (65 starts) 9. Jimmy Howard 32 Wins (55 starts) GAA 1. Ryan Miller 2.21 2. Jimmy Howard 2.24 S% 1. Ryan Miller .929 2. Thomas Vokoun .927 (23 Wins, 2.45 GAA) 3. Jimmy Howard .926 That's just crazy to look at.

I am laughing so hard because everyone is thinking exactly the same thing. It sort of feels like God is playing a joke on the Wings fans eh? I never changed the channel so fast.

Some of my good friends are really good friends with the band. I'm happy for them. The song is infinitely better than all previous years winners, that's for sure.

Why is everyone ignoring this link? It pretty much shows that is reasonable to argue about Ovy breaking the goals record barring major injury. Even if you take away the hypothetical "monster" 70 season and a few of the goals from each of the other ones, he could still break it. I don't know, it seems pretty reasonable to me. Will he do it? I think it really depends on the next 3 or 4 seasons. Points? Not a chance.

Truthfully, if it had to go the way of sponsorship (of course it does)... Little Caesars whatever would be ideal. But as someone pointed out, Illitch isn't going to sponsor his own arena. Maybe Caesars Windsor will sponsor! haha

Anyone have recommendations on parking today? I'm kind of scared since the Auto Show is going on. Usually we just park at Greektown Casino for free and take the People Mover, but I have heard that sometimes when there are events going on they charge for parking. I'm coming from Ypsi-Arbor.

I think Datsyuk would have to be the clear choice. Imagine Dats on the ice with 2 other Dats? The same instinct and playmaking skills perfectly in tune with his linemates? Imagine being on the other team and being hounded by 3 backchecking Datsyuks? Terror.

It's kind of funny when someone posted on here saying they wouldn't be surprised if the Wings missed the playoffs... and 2 weeks later, Jimmy D is sort of saying the same thing. Their GOAL is to contend and make the playoffs. Essentially, that is the most he expects our team to achieve... funny! Well, I'm in for the long haul.

I see nothing wrong with the OP. It would create discussion if people weren't so quick to flame him. After watching these 2 games, the Wings have some serious issues that need to be addressed over the next 20 games. If they continue to put forth the same effort of these 2 games, regardless the circumstances, it would not be surprising to see them sitting on the outside looking in down the road. It is clear that chemistry is lacking right now, hopefully Babcock can find a way to fix that.

Me and my g/f went Friday night - we were trying not to use the little map, and we somehow got stuck in the f'n helmet for like 20 minutes lol. It was pretty cool though.

I'm curious as to how we're going to handle OT with half a defense. My heart was not made to handle situations like this.

I think if it he leaves it at "Ovy should die" or something of that nature - maybe it has no legs and people ignore it. But once he says, "I'll go to jail, I don't care anymore" it certainly becomes a lot more real sounding than before. It won't hurt to check into it. Better to be safe than sorry. The whole "Oh it's just the internet" philosophy scares me.

I hope I don't regret staying up tonight. This is not the 2009 Wings right now.
