The Avs pulled a practical joke with that one, but I don't know of any other examples of teams embarassing themselves that way. And they won't retire Feds or Shanny. I don't think anyone has to worry about that.

Feds' mark against him would have been the contract hold out season had he stayed, but I think you'd have to reach for something biggerthan that to make him lose his retirement worthiness. Shanny's marks are different: non-Detroit homegrown, began his career in another town, but those ones don't matter so much. I think your "Shanny shouldnt even get a honorable mention" is somewhat laughable, but I also think his caliber of impact as a Red Wing is the thing that's debateable. And the thing he'd be evaluated on, again, if he had stayed. Feds was a shoe-in though, practically on the same level as Lidstrom.

Doan might fill Sammy or Franzen's shoes, but I don't kno-oooooow.... I don't expect Holland is dealing to 'fill a gap' left by two injured third liners (but 2nders here) like Samuelsson or the Fronz.

The current Wing prospect. I'd like to say that tonight Ellis was greater than Kopecky, but that was a fluke goal. If he keeps working hard like he's displayed lately though, he might just send Kop back to the healthy scratch list when Franzen returns.

My "default" is pucks. They're small, light to carry, and they store better than photographs may over the long run. But I think picking something unique and you like is even better.

I never have found the "PP!" or "GOAL!" celebrations in the thread to be much of an issue either. It's like handcuffing and bolting fans down to their chairs at JLA: How else do fans posting on LGW show their excitement on the board? I've yet to see people go into overkill mode on announcing/cheering a new development in the game, really. I know, there's not much, and agreed on the Nostradamus thing. I guess what I just take issue with the most is the mindless and effortless predictions - and that's all someone comes to post here pre-game after 20 other people have already done the same. "wings 10-1!!!!! (Drake, Downey, Kopecky, ...". At least pick people that you have some reason to think will score? Or an outcome depending on this reason or that? I'm not trying to sound like the boss of everyone (a la Crymson at times), it just gets repetitive to see it over and over again, gdt-in, gdt-out. edit: clarification

I'm sure they aren't that dumb. It takes just a quick article search on the net to realize he's raised a lot of bad questions. The baffling thing about all this though is: How did he think coming out of shape was okay? Was he contractually bound to come over so he decided to just go through the motions, then head home?

I'm not sure the predictions really add much to the GDT either though. They aren't exactly discussion material after all. Some people find them fun, I guess, and that's cool, but it's about equivalent to the one to two word in-game posts the disclaimer mentions from my vantage point.
