That's why I hate the majority of interviewers. They ask these pointlessly obnoxious questions that you KNOW what the hell the player is gonna say. What can they say? You delivered them a script and they're gonna follow through. And they all talk themselves to death. Half-way through the guy's paragraph of a question/commentary the guy coming off the ice is already three quarters braindead from the punishment. -- "So Kris, it's been a good twenty minutes of skating and passing the puck and shooting at the net. Do you expect there will be more of that? The Kings are up on you two goals right now. What is the key to winning this game?" "Uhh... scoring some goals, *******? I mean, we just gotta bring it to the net harder and play a tougher game. We gotta step it up." "Thanks Kris, it's been great having you. You heard it from the mouth of Kris Draper Mickey and Ken, this is John Keating, douching out. Back to you."

I think he needs to be a healthy scratch for a game or two. It was after that broken stick play that I was like... seriously surprised Babs put him in again, which should've been an instant benching mistake. Lilja's a decent contributer to us as a 6th Dman otherwise, but he's not having a great start at all, yeah. And I'm seriously not worried about Dom, he's 42 but you don't turn into "teh suck" overnight, as much as rabid Detroit fans may shout.

I still am having trouble with the idea of ending your own game. It's just so rich an image that I don't know if I want to see the real thing later, you know? Maybe it won't be as funny as I have it built up in my head? Those poor Leaf fans, good god.

I think the answer could be somewhere in the tao te ching, because this is clearly a question that involves Deeper Workings of the Universe. But the simple version might be no matter how masterful the teacher, not all s*** on the wall sticks? Or maybe not all sticks break as evenly to lay on the blue line? That's what I'd think too. Considering that we're not even two weeks into the season though, I ain't in too much a hurry to see the kids pick up their game. They'll find it, sure as the sun rises.

That much is true. But no picture can match reading post after post of stunned Leaf fans and imagining the utter disbelief inherent in watching that showstopper. Those are the real meat and cheese there, good sir.

Ian, how are we "more" deep? We really upgraded only in Rafalski. I like Hank, he's my favorite player on the squad, but I would say that makes us a "little deeper"... and that's it. That's true, the Wings didn't lose any depth, but we didn't gain any either. We are, for all intents and purposes, the same team as last year. Minus Lang's point production and J Willy. I don't count Dallas Drake as a depth addition.
